hey nirvana, thanks for the info, im thinking may as well just get a pair to let them try the hinges first, den go get somemore when confirmed... anyway, cheer up! your house is looking very goood! sometimes take a step back, and look at the whole picture, i know the minor details still get to us, but like ur hubby says, when we stay in there, who will scrutinise all that little things? its you, and your furnishings that make up the home you have.. as long as the edges are not sharp and wont cut when we brush across, i think its ok. i asked ard abt the ABS trimming when i was looking for ID/contractors.. most of them say the same thing.. usually ABS only on door frame...

hey danny, your kitchen very nice! i think we have the same colour combi for the kitchen, but urs is black solid top, mine is grey with white specs solid top.. hehe.. which company's laminates are u using for that pearly black laminate? oh, i also have a dark grey colour wall in my house, same as simon's... think both sets of parents will shake head vigorously on their first visit to our house when its done...

hello! your place is looking good with the ikea fittings, sorry to hear abt the measurement issues, but agree with u, change the little things to suit it rather than the major things, cus also duno how it can turn out from the rectification.. but thanks for sharing so we can all learn from it! the drawers from ikea must be bought and given to carpenter before they start right? but the cabinet doors, we can install it on the hinge later right? think thats what the ikea ppl told me when i asked them.. $9 for a set of 2 for the cabinet doors i think... thinking of getting it this week.. the hinges part i mean..
-
wah we oso intending to get that leh! its very heavy ah? u used glue or tape? sad... beyond repair?
-
glad to hear that it was rectified asap! but we have engaged our own electrician for the wiring.. but thanks for the tip anyway!

hey ossify, u also intending to use the acrylic board near ur hob area? cus i read the info on the webby u gave, although it says good thermal insulation, im also wondering if it can withstand the heat from the hob and the pots and wok...? and also read somewhere that 150 deg celcius and above... but... 150deg like not very high also....
-
ooh thanks ur suggestion sounds good! i was googling and saw can get acrylic board from art friend too but i assume dat will be more ex, but will definitely check out dama.com.sg ... yea i noe u have alot of acrylic, but u start reno later leh.. so too late for me.. haha.. but den again, this uplift can be done at a later stage cus no hacking/drilling involved.. thankew!
-
oooh, black glass for feature wall.. nice.. we also wanted to do black glass, but budget issue.. cant wait to see how urs turned out!
-
hey ossify! can count on u to gimme new ideas most of the time leh! thanks! this acrylic board, any idea where to get and got any pics for illustration? means i must cut the acrylic board to its exact length so that it can fit into a groove on the solid surface between hob and washing machine? the groove must ask the carpenter to prepare for me hor? the thickness also have to tell them beforehand... think i read in ur tblog that u also getting some acrylic stuff for ur home too..
-
something that im considering.. should i do an uplift of about 15cm at the hob area? because my hob is facing the washing machine, im afraid the frying and splurting of oil will stain my washing machine easily.. if i do a short uplift, at least i minimize some of the damage? dunno how much it'll cost though, cus contractor says it costs more to do the backing from bottom base up... its something like what reiki did for his kitchen at the stove there.. (ps: pic taken from reiki's tblog.)

wow.. tis is ancient.. i think i never even saw this in my grandparents' house last time!
