  1. nope.. we not goin for black... cus i think scratches will be easily seen on black.. we hope to go for a dark grey kind of solid top.. in between black and white.. so bottom laminates will be black, grey solid top and white laminates on the top cabinets..
  2. hehe bottom.. only the bottom is laminates i supposed... but nvm its ok.. still very nice place! my colour combi also gona be sth like urs! but less the white solid top... think i go for easy maintenance.. i lazy to clean! hehe.. i see u like taking shots with depth of field too..
  3. oops.. hehe sorry, the floor planner diagram of our floor plan did not showcase that "column" in our main bedroom... the weird column is as shown here... Rasp, i think urs is a horizontal beam above ur bed? mine is a vertical column beside the bed.. for which there is a funny tiny vertical window also, (like ur living room, but which u boxed up)... and our window in the main bedroom is only a small one.. so i think wont have any issue with the curtains.. thanks though! anyways thanks ossify and Angel, cus we'd thought abt leveling with a falsewall behind the bed long time go, but forgot about the idea totally... bad memory! indeed, 20cm is very very small.. if we flush against the false wall, we might still be able to get a 40cm space on both sides of the bed..
  4. very classy and sleek kitchen! ur black laminates dun look too wavy.. which is gd! care to share which brand of laminates is this? 1mm? thanks! wow.. and the paintings are very lovely... greeny adds simple colour to the living room!
  5. oh yah.. hehe i remem opening n closing ur bifold door in ur kitchen.. read dat u're still lookin for household stuffs.. this comin weekend 7-8 nov got philips carnival sale 9am - 6pm, 620A Lorong l Toa Payoh wah then u must be super busy with ur wedding preps now eh? and ensuring everything in the house is in order for ur wedding.. heheh
  6. wow... can i have the recipe or link from where u did this no bake cheese cake? any tips for perfecting the rounding of the cake? urs looks soo nice and clean! err pardon me, the cupcakes needs to be baked hor?
  7. hey ling! so u got from GR Link in the end.. benny and his wife very friendly hor? btw, ur 1 piece WC is which brand? Baron? cus hor i think the back of Baron WC will have a very short gap between the wall and the bottom leh (which makes it very hard to wash the bottom back of the WC)... and ur kitchen pearl finish sink... which brand issit? does the tap come in a package? dat day we were rushing for time, so didnt ask abt the sinks...
  8. we've a tiny issue when we went down to the site for a visit with our contractor... There's a funny beam in the MBR which kind of already dictate how far away our bed will be from the window wall.. bedside tables of different widths... does it look weird?
  9. ossify, the pic u attached is dangling from the ceiling swivel one right? looks good eh.. but wires gotta think of a clever way to box them up or make it very tidy. have you seen this sold anywhere before? cheap? Angel, we've seen sth like this but from floor to maybe half height pole at the OM warehouse, but cannot put tv console already, cus that pole thingy on its own already quite space consuming..
  10. good luck! and hold on to ur last payment of 5 or 10% if u can!
  11. hehe yep yep but u provide some gd ideas! dats the adv of forums.. injecting new ideas! and u've got good lobangs for toilet accessories and fans all over sg too leh.. eagerly awaiting ur buys.. hehhehh Angel, we wont be doing a full height feature wall with a swivel for tv separating the study area and bed, cus will make the room very much smaller, n i feel a lil claustrophobic... so will prob be having a normal tv console, and a lazy susan for tv on top of it... so dat we can watch tv from both sides if we want! anyone noes where to get a lazy susan for tv? hopefully can support 26/32 inch lcd tv.. saw one at ikea, <$20, but can only swivel 60degrees... we need one dat can swivel 180 degs...
  12. wow i never thought i can squeeze a jacuzzi in that tiny little toilet! but actually i'd prefer more of bedroom space than giving space to the toilet, esp since we're not goin to do much to the bathroom.. oh we did thought of placing the wardrobe behind the tv, but i think that'd make the entire room look very much smaller due to the full height blockage... and the length of the wardrobe in the middle of the room will be lesser than at the toilet there.... ahh... every placement has an advantage and a disadvantage...
  13. heheh so retro indeed! like a little bruce lee... well.. i think most of us also got our hair sabo-ed by our parents when we were young ah... maybe next time when he goes to school he will start becoming conscious of his image.. hehh.. ooh yes ur wallpaper is very nice.. but ex indeed...
  14. oops, heh sorry, my ofc pc colour sucks, i cant see the line between the 2 toilets.. but but but... i wont have my pseudo walk-in-wardrobe (albeit with sliding doors) if i do the toilet tis way... and then my wardrobe doors will be facing the bed with a tiny (30cm) walkway between the bed and the wardrobe doors... ok back to work now! will b back again tonight... sigh, hate it when theres limited internet in ofc..
  15. hey felixp! maybe u can call them up to check.. last time my hubby enquired with RHB, they say after u submit, better call 3-4 days later to give them a little nudge..
  16. we havent told our parents our colour choices.. think they'll faint at white kitchens and galaxy walls... yah kopi, if can be any amt of red, just do the linings at the side there red lor? better than no red..
  17. helo tuababy! thanks for the curtain contacts too! JandG, yah... the living room is huge! can cater for big family and friends gathering.. but hor actually the mbr not very big... dun have space to put normal sized bedside tables.. urs oso hacked 2 in 1? think u havent posted ur bedrooms rite? but ur lightings in the house makes it look very cozy! Thankew Angel! yah.. easy to plan = too many ideas leading to headaches over choices.. hahha..
  18. Hey Rasp, the corridor is not exactly an fs requirement but rather, a workaround to the inconvenience if we dont do it this way.. actually there's another layout initially, which is to build up the study area (which is now the dining) into a room, but that'll block out some light from the dining windows, and make that new room quite redundant... I havent actually seen anyone with a corridor like this, and im keeping my fingers crossed that it'll turn out ok! hehe, yah ur toilet tiles look very 3D with the white lines lo! hehe thankew thankew!
  19. hey ossify! thanks for the suggestion! we also hate the thought of mold leh.. but if we combine 2 toilets into 1, then it'll be not so smooth for us to access the 1 toilet, and if got parents temp staying over with us will be quite inconvenient too.. dats why we're thinking of installing the ventilator at the toilet window, and hopefully it'll minimise the mold!
  20. hubby told me casette system is the window unit aircon? i think u dun need to have that.. cus when i enquired for my 5 room, i could do a 22k btu **** room, 16k for my 2-in-1 room, and another 9k for the last room... all can fit using toshiba or mitsubishi electric inverter compressor... the big one lor... maybe u can jus bring ur floor plan down to gain city or any of the aircon shops to let them advice... i got mine at gain city marina.. sales guy Victor very gd service.. we bugged him 3 times before giving him any sales.. lol
  21. we're at 600+.. wah hehe.. urs dun sound like simple stuff leh... change of tiles is quite major leh.. u changing whole house floor tiles? we're not changing any tiles, but overlaying the toilet floor tiles only, cus contractor went to knock knock and said its ok to overlay.. we'll be hacking one wall, and same as u, the usual, L box, aircon and lighting... not changing the doors too cus its still in gd condition, jus reached 5 yrs only... ur unit also no existing aircon? u not in any hurry to do the reno? who have u shortlisted so far? we're in a rush, dats why sourced out many many things way in advance..
  22. actually he cant meet our budget too.. hes not the lowest quote too but one of the 2 lowest but we felt at ease with him, and he could do our reno within our stipulated time frame.. dats the main factor... i dun wana keep chasing... ok no probs! i'll pm u tmr cus its in pdf..
  23. Next up was the process of looking for a ID/contractor, which we'd started in july.. Main concern: Design: no need very fanciful, we want to keep it simple and clean cut too Time issues: 6-7 weeks of reno, cannot be delayed much as we needed the house if possible by early Jan due to our wedding in end of Jan.. Response time: easily contactable (i'll go crazy if i cant find my contractor! haha) Quality: wanna stay here for a longer period of time, if i can.. so must be decent.. Reviews: Whats better than a real life review? of course, not everybody under same company has the same group of workers.. and of course.. Budget: more for less, with a decent price tag... no need dirt cheap, but we aint rich, so gotta keep it low.. We've looked up a total of 7.. 1. Ideal H*use.. Quotation was ok, but alot of things left out cus they were the 1st ID that we approached, so things like the huge glass panel in the doorway wasnt included.. But what irks me was that after 4-5 weeks of giving us the quotation, we told him we were still waiting for a few more quotations from other IDs, he said, "why? the rest not interested to do for u ah?" sth like trying to put down others... 2. Renoz*ne.. highly recommended by a frd, ideas seem good, but quotation was way out of our tiny budget... 3. U-H*me.. also recommended to my hubby by a forummer, the ID seems ok, detailed and very honest with his opinions, promised to check some stuff out like whether can find remaining tiles from HDB for our resale flat if we needed more toilet wall tiles in case during hacking of floor, some wall tiles are damaged.. but quotation and queries werent answered after > 3 weeks.. ID called hubby back more than 4 weeks later and apologised due to some family matters and wanted to meet up instead of sending us the quotations, we asked for email quote, but it never came.. 4. Henry ID-N*te.. Had quite a good chat, easy going guy, estimated our reno to be less than 20k (within our budget!) but quotation came back exceeded by 10k.. However, thanks to Supersimon and wifey for letting us view his place! 5. Jas*n U&B.. Seems quite easygoing.. gave him a list of what we needed to be done and colour printed drawings of what we want, cus we thought contractor, maybe better to show directly instead of just saying to minimise miscommunications.. But 2 weeks later, requested us to fill in his excel and email him... quotation came back totally missing out on all the things we want... i think the list of action and colour printed drawings MIA liao.. 6. Yeak.. Very good reviews.. emailed him our list of actions and drawings as well, but no quotations after 3 weeks, hubby called and chased, but still no quotations came after more than 6 weeks.. 7. Henry Impress21.. also emailed him our list of actions and drawings, quotations came fairly quickly, abt 1 week.. decent amount.. so we decided to meet up and discuss further on the quotation.. Next few revision of the quotes were reasonable, and we were brought by Henry to view Rasp's place.. Seeing Rasp's place and her very detailed reviews (thanks girl!), set our minds at ease. Very easily contactable and prompt in sending us the info we need. Usually they say, its either the 1st or the last fella u approach... so in our case, we've given our house reno job to Impress21.. Even though the drawings arent superbly impressive and digitalised like most here, we dun mind, cus its not difficult for me to put into softcopy and add in the colours.. I dun mind doing these if it helps to keep the cost low.. On a side note.. we'll be getting our keys on the 2nd appt in exactly 3 more weeks and starting reno in 22 days! yay!
  24. hehhehe, thank u fellas. kopi, my FSM say no red and green only.. phew.. but u'd see an odd arrangement in the house later on.. different school of FS i reckon.. dsman, comin right up on contractors/id! simon, my pre reno pics got the owners and our parents face.. must mosaic first bef i can post up... hehhe..
  25. yah.. ur valuation is very high... but i guess urs shld be near the lrt and on a high floor.. but gd for u dat u got it below val! oh! hmm weird leh, we saw 109, 172, 174, 110.. but dun have such a layout... usually is 1 bedroom at left hand side, then living room in the middle.. then the other 2 bedrooms on the right... but anyways... are u doin major reno for ur flat?
