As we have a huge backing in our mbr, which is actually the back of the wardrobe facing our bed, we needed to be sure of what laminate we chose for that, so off we went to sungei kadut to the EDL and Lamitak factory one early morning.. the guys at both factories were very nice, showed and adviced which is better, which will turn from white to yellow so not advisable to take... they also showed us the big piece of laminates 8ft by 4ft.. practically all that we chose were shown in big pieces to us.. easier for us to visualise.. they also gave us A4 samples to take home! some of the laminates we chose, basically white and black throughout. we like this core laminate very much, every part of it is white, including the inside! so when its scratched, its still a white scratch.. but too ex.. i think abt 120/piece.. so we gave up on this..

Our toilet fittings were delivered yesterday! pearly kitchen sink that came with very cool drainer baskets to hold rubbish! all of it stacked nicely in the common room, away from all the false ceiling which is gonna happen next week! then, we headed down to our contractor's office with our chosen laminates jus to take pics of the colour combi with the solid top... kitchen colours, bottom pewter, grey solid top, upper white cabinets.. mbr toilet vanity cabinets and white with specks solid top..

why sigh? u only paid 8k, compared to 50k which is like... *faint* oh u noe that our blocks there the carpark only accessible by 1st and 4th floor right? true, if u have kids next time, easier for ur wife to push the pram on a straight ramp.. and i think we share the same carpark.. next time might bump into each other! hahah we're also doing reno with money saving and the least cleaning in mind, but we didnt hack floors and change the doors... doing lots of carpentry though..
-
hello nolit! oh wah, another fellow neighbour! which block are u at? no blog to share share your reno progress? hehe.. ^5! Uncle benny offers very good service and pricing hor? they just delivered the stuffs to us last week.. we are not going to hide the bomb shelter door, gonna cut cost and just repaint the door.. initially wanted to cover up, and also do up a small shoe cabinet just beside the bomb shelter, width just enough for 1 shoe size, but its about 1.2k for that entire feature, so decided to forgo it and get ikea shoe cabinets and drill on the wall opposite the bomb shelter instead.. we got the Joven 25litre heat elevation storage heater.. not sure if its powerful enough for our rain shower or not.. when will u be starting reno? if u start after end jan, we can better advice u then, cus we'll be moving in then..

-
yes.. ure very lucky too! i heard from my agent that theres a flat in our plot sold for 50k COV.. which floor is ur flat on? ehh no leh, we're not enlarging the bathroom, we're only hacking the wall between mbr and the common room beside it.. ooh, so who have u engaged for your reno? will u be doing major changes to it? hehe, glad to be of some help!

Had carpentry discussion with our contractor and carpenter till midnight last night.. shag! Now we were given a few things to think about and gotta get back to them soon.. 1. Stainless steel kitchen pull out basket to fit lower kitchen cabinet of 900mm The chicken brand sells about $280 for 1 layer.. dats about $560 for one cabinet.. I think its useful cus in my mum's place, we dun have those, so I have to reach beyond all those that are nearer the door for those deep inside.. And I also dont need to bend too much to take stuff.. not good for back.. 2. Shelving or cabinets with doors above the washing machine area? I wanna go for shelving, just plain simple shelves so dat i can store some washing powder and cloths above that area. will not be getting any dryer, so dat space gotta be utilised by shelving and cabinets.. but carpenter says, shelving with all the barang barang will be visible the moment we step into the kitchen.. not very nice la.. but shelving is cheaper.. some more things we have to consider, but notes all with hubby... more thinking for me later...

hey nirvana, read thru ur half asleep post , and i think most of us will experience what u did. lucky u have ur hubby who's so optimistic.. cus im like u.. cheer up, when u move in, all these small blunders will become insignificant when ur furnishings come in... looking forward to ur ikea blum hinges tips.. cus we also thinking of using that, can cut cost and hopefully hold up the weight..
-

hello! we also got our aircon installed by gain city yesterday.. and toshiba too.. i think the gap between your aircon and the wall is due to the uneven-ness of the wall... even in our mbr, where our aircon is only 16kbtu same size as 9kbtu, also got a small gap... and yah... im also baffled by all the thickness of the insulation... the salesman never say they will use thinner copper wire based on btu size hor? -
Hey Mickey! Ya seems like progressing well, but I'd rather not count my eggs bef they hatch.. anw, it's also becus I'm not doing any hacking of floor tiles, keeping all the existing ones n only overlaying toilet floor tiles.. The siong one is the carpentry.. We have quite alot.. So when dat time comes I also gan chiong liao.. your reno progress also ok ah! Very daring and unique changes!
-

wow.. your ID's design house ceiling looks stunning with the bling bling lights.. u can also use urs as a showroom when its done! -
hey kopi.. ya! hopefully can HO bef our big day end of jan.. hmm, for ceiling fans, we're intending to go for KDK A11YS, small blade but powerful enough for living room and bedroom.. we experienced the power in our neighbour's flat... so far lowest price of tis is 160 at hong liang.. we also considered fanco fan FF9 56" $165, FM2000 52" $98, FM3000 48" $75 at lightings.com.sg... but if u see all these models, u realise they are all plain plain ones... we like plain and simple..

had our aircon installed by gain city today.. the msian guys were earlier than the appt time, we were still on the way in mrt! haha the installers were very nice, answered us even though we really asked them alot of questions... after watching them work, i think i peifu them for their detailed work and skills.. bending and measurement of the copper pipe has to be very precise else they gotta redo again.. skilled! they even brought their own dust pan to clear some of the dust they created! our 16k btu unit in the mbr.. no trunking visible here.. trunking all in the walkway.. however, im a little afraid if the painter will be able to do a nice cover up of the blue paint if the aircon is installed already.. but, it doesnt seem like theres any better time for the installation... the compressor which was just short enough to go thru the aircon ledge window.. else gotta do balancing act from kitchen window to ledge! armed with a camera with nothing to do, take photos lor.. can see that tiny little bit of water way..
