I had identical experience as you but i"m not as nice. I hope we are talking about the same agent from the same company, else there are really too many of these pple around in the market.
I had lodged a complaint to IEA, ERA and HDB and seek their advice on what to do in this case. It is not fair market practise.
Because we as buyers are trapped. If we want to buy that house, we have to "engage" this person so called representing us when in actual fact, he did not even help to nego on mybehalf or source houses for me. I found him! And throughout he had been trying to fetch the highest price for the seller and still insist I pay him 1% for that house! I would gladly pay if he's really acting in my interest.
It's the exact same case. He claimed there is another seller's agent whom we never met.
Lucky for us, we found out about this before we sign the OTP or any agreement.
I'm quite disgusted with how the entire system of property agents had turned into.
