  1. So what came out of this? Did you manage to get this settled?
  2. Hi OP, how did your renovation go? Did you manage to get all those done within your 25k budget?
  3. I agree with Didi. Its gonna cost you more if you damage the gas or water pipes/mains.
  4. I always leave the bathroom doors open to ensure ventilation.
  5. I agree, everyone needs to earn money. The lesser you pay, the more he need to scrimp to have profits.
  6. The designer must be able to understand your requirements, so 2 way communication is a must. Your first meeting is probably for the designer to understand your needs (what actual work that needs to be done) and likes (type of design that you like). From there the designer will proceed to prepare a quotation for your purview at the next meeting. You need to ensure that the person you are talking to is the actual designer/project manager and not just a sales person, some firms use sales person to sign projects and pass it on to someone else to handle later. If possible, ask him to show you actual units that he has completed.
  7. Homogeneous tiles - durable, not worried about water spoiling your flooring, comes in multitudes of design, marble look, wood look etc. Easy maintenance. marble - looks great but maintenance is a hassle, will lose its gloss over time and easily stained. Laminate - looks good, feels like wood but will spoil if it gets soaked since its wood. might as well get vinyl. Vinyl or resilient - an upgrade over laminate. will not spoil when soaked since its not made of wood. multiple designs, mostly wood grain or cement screed look. Easily maintained. Solid hardwood - wonderful look and feel. but expensive to buy, expensive to maintain.
