That doesnt sound so good ! I am also having L&S in lot of my rooms now. Reached an agreement with my ID...get to choose fewer colours but can go for L&S. I want bright rooms! But peeling off doesnt sound normal. Could be an issue with the way painting was done. Have a 18 month old running around the house...bit worried about the staining part now !! cant you wipe off stains from L&S ?

Havent updated my blog for sometime as I have run into some problems with my project. My ID disappeared one fine day. No trace !! I have now been assigned a new ID by the firm. Fortunately I didnt pay any money to ID directly. Have to restart from scratch. With a very tight schedule it will be tough going from here. Selected my paint colours, laminates and bathroom tiles today.

The diameter is 1.5m for V60K. 3m diameter is tooo big. Got fans that big only at CAGE futsal pitch !!

my wife loves this. How much does it cost?

I have been quoted 1700$ for full house painting(5 room), but can choose only 6 colours from Pentalight range. Light and Space will cost 2100$. Is that normal? Supposedly Light and Space harder to apply. Cannot repaint just one patch. Have to paint whole wall.

Welcome to the T Blogs. Best of luck with your reno.

Hi dannywmp, You have a good point there. If you change furniture frequently, there is no point overspending on very durable stuff. For me I am planning to keep my stuff for around 5 years before I consider changing things. So going for stuff that would hopefully not break down before that period. I use my living room a lot plus have a small kid, so leather was more durable option for me. I have seen a friends PVC sofa (from Novena) which started cracking after 16 months. It was from normal Novena, not the "White Collection" part. I think "White" carry better quality stuff and definitely nicer designs. But I guess it was really poor grade PVC. The good PVC these days is supposed to last a much longer time. My Cellini dining chairs are also PVC, so I am hoping they dont get spoilt fast... Reno budget is always like that.....keeps going up. I too have overspent a lot already. But its all for your own house...so enjoy the experience

Havent finalized yet. Most probably a couple of wall lights, T5 type. Will have to see what looks good. ID will work it out.

See my earlier post for price details. Going JB is very straight forward...just need a big enough vehicle of your own/rented. For shopping you can find JB KDK dealer locations on KDK Malaysia website. There are a lot of them. Call up their number to confirm price. You can bargain more if you are buying in bigger quantity. I think shops in Taman Sentosa area are closest. After buying, when you come to Singapore immigration, just go through red channel and declare your purchase. You have to show them your receipt and they will calculate the GST. Pay the money and bring your fans home. Simple.

Renovation will start, mid November. But I pulled the trigger on lot of purchases. Dont want to wait till last moment and rush my decisions. I will be installing 5 fans, 2x 60" in living room and 3 x 56" for each bedroom. I had received a quotes from a few local shops and the price I was getting was around V56K : 508$ V60K : 558$ I paid V56K: 470 Ringgit V60K: 580 Ringgit Add 7% GST that you pay for customs + transport cost. Do note that I bought 10 fans(5 mine, 5 for a friend) in all, so I could bargain more.

QUOTE (The Electric New Paper :http://tnp.sg/printfriendly/0,4139,201506,00.html @ Oct 15 2009, 10:02 AM) Interesting article. I got exactly same models. Wanted simple/sleek designs which dont attract attention. Lighting will be taken care with LBox

Shop name/address you can find from KDK Malaysia website list of JB dealers. Fan price is nearly half of what you get in Singapore.

1. Shop name/address you can get from KDK malaysia website. Call them up to find the price. Not much difference in price between shops. They will give more discount for larger orders. My shop guy told me that lot of Singaporeans buy from him..so I am surely not the first one. 2. Yes transported myself. Had hired a big van for transport along with a friend. Its possible to transport in a car but you need to get rid of the boxes and take out the fins/motor etc. That way they consume very little space. Boxes are pretty bulky. 3. We got 10 fans in total. Yes declared at customs, they will calculate GST. Do read the customs rules. If you stay in Malaysia for 1 day/2 day/ >2 days then there are different custom rebates calculated. More number of days you stay, more rebate. Regarding warranty, I have to go back the JB shop. Usually the problem is with motor, which is easy to carry. Can remove the fins. Other thing that gets spoilt is the remotes...but I have 5 of them now....so can spare a few. But the shop owner did say that they have seen few cases of KDK fan coming back for repair. Anyway the reason for buying KDK is their reliability. For the same price I would have got a lesser reliable brand locally. Installation will be done by my electrician who will charge the standard price.

Got from JB town. Brought myself. Had to pay GST at customs. Still much below the local prices. Saved around 1000+$ in all the fans. Check my blog for photos.

haha. My wife also hates the size of these things...but when I play some good music, she forgets about their looks To buy speakers/amps, you should start at Adelphi mall. You can get most of the well known brands of speakers and amps there. Go and audition a few setups. Make sure you keep some budget in mind and then audition setups within that range. Dont get poisoned by those highend setups. They sound very sweet and blow a big hole in your pocket. Adeplhi address http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...vel_site_12949/

I got my KDK fans from Malaysia(JB). Well worth the price. Their 56" and 60" models very windy and have thermal sensor for auto speed regulation. Also the most reliable brand.
-
Bought my ceiling fans today from JB. Went with KDK as its the most reliable brand and I wanted clean cut designs without lights. KDK models are much cheaper in Malaysia. Bit of a hassle if there is a defect, but price is almost half. Ended up buying KDKs for all rooms. Got good discount for buying in bulk. Height of fans could be bit of an issue but I will manage. No false ceiling, only Lbox. 2 x V60VK , 60 inch for Living rooms 3 x V56VK, 56 inch for bedrooms. Cant afford to turn on aircon all the time and hate those standing fans which get in the way and pose a hazard for my kid. These ceiling fans should keep the whole flat "airy".

To answer my own question, the man to contact is Mr Soh 96721871. Myself and a friend of mine are using his services to get a dedicated power line for HiFi. He will only be doing the HiFi power line setup, rest of the work will be done by my ID's electrician.

A friend told me his bad experience at his final inspection before 2nd appointment for his flat in Punggol. The seller really made sure she cleaned up every last bit of her remainings. Tried to pull out this cheap speaker wire which was set up via false ceiling for rear speakers... When she couldnt, she said you return it later ! My friend agreed because he was going to throw it anyway as his home theater setup already costs 17000 $ and he would need much better cables. Worst was they took out all the used batteries from their a/c remotes. Now this guy had paid a very good price for his flat with high COV(still one of the top prices for Punggol 5 rooms). But some sellers really super greedy, will pull the last penny if they can.
-
One unexpected problem has been that I caught the HiFi upgrade bug... Was helping a friend audition some speakers/amps.....ended up buying myself also !!! Now I will have a home theater setup in living room and a separate stereo setup in study. Wife not happy

Yeah..makes sense. I am also leaning towards keeping the existing aircon till I have more funds. Only problem could be some technical issues. The aircon piping currently passes through the wall where I propose to have my master bedroom wardrobe !! Later if I need to change piping, whole cupboard will be affected !! These things can never see when selecting a resale flat !! Can only learn from experience.
