if do alot of cooking, then white tiles for kitchen, won't it be difficult to maintain if there's stains, especially after cooking got oil. Will the tiles turn yellowish down the years? Unless you "ku la ku la" mop up the floor after cooking everynight. The wall tiles also 白白?

Laminate Flooring Help!
dyleen replied to reena8282's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
decals may not last as they are stickers, through constant walking, stepping, and mopping it, don't think the colour will stay either. if you have the budget, perhaps you can hack away the tiles of the dining room and lay another tiles of different colour over. Or a simpler way will be using carpet. You can lay carpet at the living area, it does give a cozy feel =) But why do you want to divide the area so clearly? I feel that if the whole living area and dining area uses the same tiles, it gives a spacious feel, also in future if you ever want to shift your furniture around, you will not be restricted by the different tiles. so do consider using carpets/ rugs my 2 cents. -

those are wall decals. they are like stickers, but for sticking on walls and glasses. singpore do sell them, range around $30 per piece. if interested, can order from china - www.taobao.com just search for 墙贴 and you can see alot of very nice wall decals. the prices are in renminbi. so just take the price divide by 5. of cos, shipping fees also must include. hope this helps =) -
I noticed alot of pillars. the before pictures, the living room looks HUGE the previous owner hack all walls? with this nice decor, i think 40k is reasonable. you did a major overhaul right?

After 1.5mths. The handover day is drawing nearer. Though alot hiccups, and will go ito details once all handover, and all the nice nice pictures taken.

Veri nice reno done. Before and After pictures, really give a great sense satisfaction at the end product. Care to share how much the damage? Oh yah, nice wiw, is it part of the MBR or hack into another room? And lastly, love the kitchen. white kitchen always looks neat and clean.

erm...personally i like anything thats purple or pink. Maybe that's why the 3D design looks nicer. Maybe when the purple glass are up, as what the Id said, it will look nice? Of cos, still must you like mah. else wait everyday you go inside change and feels irritated looking at the staggered design, ruin your day how?
-
via LRT will be sufficient. in SK, LRT very convenient. WOW u mean you have one whole room as wiw? so envy...... In that case, then I agree with your colleague. If you're sleeping and facing it, it looks complicated. But if just a dresser room, then it can just be a design mah. something different? unique? isnt that also the purpose of getting an ID, so that they can design something different? lolz

Maybe we should organise a ONE DAY tour in sengkang, when all done with renovation, and we go viewing from house to house. elane1311, IDs always ask us to trust them. but sometimes nice to them may not be nice to us. some of the ideas my ID wanna do to my house, but as the renovation moves on, I told her to change. cos don't like the feel of it. Although she was upset, cos we changed her designs, but I was insistence, cos I will be staying there for the next 5 years. It could be a fresh and new idea of hers, and she wanna give it a try, but I don't wish to let her have her way, knowing that I won't like it. Well, we went ahead with the change, she also no choice. And I'm glad with my change. yesterday also rather upset with my ID. cos she gave wrong instructions to the electrician. I wanted all the light switches to be place behind a wall, somewhere near the rooms. so that upon switching off the lights, i can walk into my rooms in the dark (distance shorter - common sense mah). But somehow, she place the dining room lights near the rooms (correct) but the living room she place them all at the main door area upon entering. meaning now i have to walk to door off the lights after watching TV, then walk in the dark (a longer distance) to go to my room. I told her that's silly right? Worse of all, she claim my hubby was the one who told her that arrangement. lucky my hubby came up after work, and demanded an explanation and said he never told her such arrangement, then she say will rectify, but that means got to do something to my false ceiling (drill a hole!) then mend it. I din want it. cos drill and mend, then the false ceiling not perfect piece. haiz. ID, if don't be there when they work, certain things just don't go well.

i spoke to my ID about tempered glass, and ask how come some have the tempered glass word/logo embossed on the glass while others don't. Her reply was, glass with the word "tempered glass" embossed, are truly tempered glass and the company will with reponsible with warranty if anyting happen to the tempered glass. Whereas those with no logo or word embossed, means the company can say it is tempered glass, but no proof mah, so even it is not, and you accept the goods, then anythings happen, they not responsible. Tempered glass will not shattered into pieces right? mayb this is one which the co. will warranty?

hi ynove, for the ventilation fan, I was quoted the same as you. SilverBullet, $120 is the cost of the fan itself. but 350 is inclusive of the installation. Initially we wanted to get from KDk too. but the installation cost is MORE than that of the fan. So we've decided to try it out w/o the ventialtion fan and see if there's really a need when we move in next mth.

i agree with the rest. You should insist to have the wardrobe door change and be firm that you did told him your preference. However, the ID may insist that you wanted the zig-zag, since there's no proof of your preference. But Just insist you want them to change and simply dislike the zigzag. Share with you my experience, I have a partition done up to 85cm in height. But when delievered, the ID did a 1m, and insist it was agreed to be 1 m between she and my hubby. But of cos, both of us insist that 1m is way too high which we can't possibly wanted it, and was very firm that it must be 85cm. so ID did the change lor. of cos the unhappy is the carpenter, but I can't blame carpenter cos ID gave wrong instructions. And Im glad I insist the change, cos the result is much pleasing to the eye. As for the lighting, was the lighting point originally given by HDB? did you ask to relocate? If no, the perhaps check with your ID is there anyway to rectify and get the light more centred in the Living area or Dining area. cos being in the middle of no where, when you place your furnishing, it will be rather difficult cos there's no centre point. Then this nice light will lose its purpose - meaning when you chose this light, it is suppose to be part of the focus , yet now, it is out of focus le.

the brown walls, also wall paper? can share how much yu spend on wallpaper? where you get them from?
-
yah, i also think stickers will be better, can keep changing after few years. how much you charge if do sticker?
-
this ID of yours not bad le. quite abit of freebies. mine only things like free installation of toilet bowl, sinks, etc. Nothing from her is free. Very difficult to get her give freebies, probably cos she absorb the gst bah. But hor, mayb your ID knew about the type of wood? then carpenter charge him cheap, so with the price he quoted you, he can earn more? tats y can give those freebies?
-
newnyew, you do wall murals? those sticker type one? thinking whether should do a wall murals or buy decals n paste paste
-
erm, you mean blockboard for the TV feature wall? can it support the TV? I know some will add metal to the back of the wood so that the wood can support the weight of the TV. But for my case, my TV is a 50inch one, so I guess my ID dare not take the risk of not using solid wood, cos I did warn her and get assurance from her many many times that if the wall falls, then I'm after her. When drilling into the wood, will somehow know if the wood is solid or not, cos like i've mentioned, my TV guy told me the wood is hard when they tried to drill. and he commented my id very nice still use solid wood. anyway, I saw your PM. Let me go home check my quote and let you know.
-
thanks. means my id din cheat me. Initially I have doubts about the wood my id use for my TV feature wall. but when the TV guy came and mount and drill, say the wood was very hard, and claim my ID uses solid wood, I kinda feel relieved.

erm...taxing anot ah....the one in the living room will not be on often, unless there's a gathering at our place. then the other 3 rooms will not be on. so i guess wont be too taxing bah. but i know most pple will recommend 3+1 instead of 4. we personally feel that living room will not be used often, so din bother to have an extra compressor just for the living room lor.

Ventilation Exhaust Fan Installation For Toilet ?
dyleen replied to tientien's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
hi, you can give kdk a call. They have contractors who can install for you. From what I understand, They will just remove 2 panes from your louver window, and replace with a fixed panel for the ventialtion fan. If I didn't remembered wrongly, the cost of that fan plus installation = $350 we wanted to install but looking at the price, we decided to try out w/o the fan and see if there's really a need to anot. cos the ventilation fan itself only 100+, meaning the remaining 100+ (which cost more than the fan) is the installation inclusive the fixed panel. -
those with layers one, are chipboard or plywood?
-
For my case, the resale I bought was 8years old, so I guess the 3 aircons oso sama sama age bah. We also installed aircon in our living room. We actually got rid of the aircons and change a system 4 one. We opted to change cos din want to have any problem with the old aircon after moving in, cos it can be quite messy. Also, aircon life span also not very long, probably in another year or 2 the old aircons might give alot of problems, so we might as well change it once and for all.

My ID did it for me. I'm not sure who is the supplier. but according to her, the solid top, mirror all different sub-contractor. As for the cost, let me go home check my invoice and let you know =) But if you're doing solid top for your kitchen, then get the same supplier to do your toilet.
