Need Advice: To Apply A Renovation Loan Or To Use Savings?
Batman replied to dolphinz's topic in Finance and Insurance
Just bear in mind that the interest are pre-calculated. i.e even if u repay in full (say kanna toto or 4D), there is no rebate of interest. -
Congrats bro on ur new purchase. From your description above, by my reckoning, it will cost u at least 50-60K. Cos I did mine 2 years ago with similar items except hacking, open wardrobe, building wall n electrical wiring already 30K liao If u have the time to "project manage", then by all means use contractor. If not, ID maybe a better option.

Guess a picture will paint a thousand words

Yeah beware of "hidden costs"... From what I see, there are a lot of "supply labour......." How about the tools? Scarly they say u need to top up $50 per item for the use of "tools", then jia lat liao Just my point of view lar... better be safe than sorry. Good luck bro

The Helping Hands Mover
Batman replied to kenkoh88's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
Just got them to do a "survey" of my place. Quoted S$280 per trip and the guy say "confirm can move all in 1 trip". 1st 20 boxes are FOC, subsequent 30 boxes (used) @ S$60, which works out to be S$2/box. Have yet to confirm with them as my previous mover (Rodex) was also cost competitive and efficient. They will be coming over to do a survey tomorrow. Hope the above helps -
Nice reno! Just 1 silly question... how to change language in taobao.com to english? Or it is not possible to do so?

How Many Led Lights For A Room To Be Bright Enough?
Batman replied to ashleymay's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Exactly.. LED down lights aren't cheap in the first place.. Some more if u get 4x3W, isn't it equivalent to a normal down light, in terms of watts?? -
Just my 2 cents.... if u can afford to pay COV, y still go with HDB? Bite the bullet n go private.. if property appreciate, just sell n cash out lor. Dun need to give a da*n abt any tupid rule rite?

To Buy Or Not To Buy?
Batman replied to Lisa's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
My philosophy: There is NEVER a good time to buy anything. From electronic gadgets, to cars, to property. If u think the price is fair and right, go for it.... Ah bo at a later time, u will say "Aiya had I know it........" Good luck and all the best -
Currently I am renting a 3BR condo at Sherwood Condominium situated at Jalan Jurong Kechil. Our commitment is 6mth + 6mth from August onward. However as I'd found my new place, and I should be moving in by end-Jan 2013, I am looking for potential tenants to "take over" from Feb 2013 until July 2013. As it is on 6+6 terms, effectively the new tenant can only rent it for 1mth and move out after that with no penalties. However if he/she need to extend it by another 1-6 months, only need to inform owner in advance. Hence it is a very flexible arrangement with the owner. Most importantly, the rental rate is lock-in at a very attractive price of 3K/month!!! Even Clementi HDBs are calling for that price! For those who are keen, please feel free to drop me a pm to discuss. PS: STRICTLY NO AGENTS! I am a stay-in tenant and just wanna share this good deal with fellow families who are like me; buying new properties and need a short-term place to rent. I know how is it like looking for those short term rental. Either too expensive or location too inconvenient etc...

Beware of Roger Ong from DENNIS WEE REALTY PTE LTD, CEA Licence Number: L3005183F / R017888A This nin listed the unit as "View To Offer" http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/listing/8347505/for-rent-southaven-ii hence sent a harmless sms to enquire the rate for a rental property. Got a return call and he sounded rude rite off. Eventually "suan" by saying: are u able to get a private unit at $x,xxx per month? Point is, being in service line, the least u can do is to be more polite when talking to potential clients rite? Hence peeps, do beware of this UNFRIENDLY and UNCOUTH agent!!!!!!

i chg my main door lock from normal to digital type. my existing one was bigger than the new one. hence e installer put in a piece of 'metal adapter' to 'fill up' the empty space. i think ur concern shld be: 1) whether e shop u gonna buy ur lock provide any installation service or not 2) if yes, how much do they charge for installation? also take a few pics of ur existing door lock so that u can show e shop staff to get a better estimate, else there could be hidden costs.

unfortunately, its not possible as its the degradation of the plastic itself.....

Drilling False Wall - Hit Something Hard Like Metal
Batman replied to ariesmun's topic in DIY Corner
or worst still, it maybe ur water piping! personally i'd advice u that u get some real strong n heavy duty tapes (like 3M type) to stick ur soap container. if tat's not possible, just buy the 3M corner rack (the one that's on TV advert recently) to stick and u can cover the hole. just my 2 cents -
agree w asoon88, my place has also got a chimney hood installed and we clean it EVERYDAY after cooking. even the best hood will have oil stains. so its down to maintenance
-
i'd also received a reply via ebay that says that e price is between 680-700, so 690 (full price, b4 8% disc) seems fair.
-
in my case, i bought them myself n pass it to my ID whom in turn pass it to his carpentry guys. e labour is FOC since in any case whether i supply myself or their usal dampers, they also have to install.

wee wee!!! how's urs getting along? started already? trust me, the toilets aint that big. especially the common toilet. its only just nice. all credits to Adrian, cos he's e one who propose the black red theme n he was e one who chose point out the rosey tiles to us when we were at the shop selecting tiles back then. more credits to him bcos the rosey tiles cost abt 11-12psf, whilst our quote is only for tiles up to 3.50psf. he gladly absorb the cost difference as we'd chosen cheaper tiles for other areas. so its a give n take.
