Thanks Dr A , the COV isn't fanstastic, our block is furthur away from yours its near the Victory Family Centre, so no major "pull" factors to increase the COV and we hacked the walls & rearranged the floor-plan, it was quite a bold step for us & as usual we were greeted with the usual bewilderment from our relatives when they came to visit. But the old folks do have some sense of wisdom, coz we hit a snag when we sold off our place, almost everybody loved our place but they were not so comfortable with the additional expenses of reconstructions the walls. This also affects the COV. Food for thought for those "hackers" out there. My recipe for future home-owners, add 3 ounces of "do-what-you-like-coz-you're-happy" but do not neglect that 1 ounce of "good-old-fashioned-common-sense" Thank you, , we opted for a timeless look, & it appears we have achieved it. We opted for no handles as handles tend to look dated over time & frankly we just don't like the cluttered look when you see handles all over the place. We still love this look & will recreate a similar theme for our new apt, but minus the light coves. Been there done that..its not as cool as it is when you need to change light bulbs & refill moth-balls supplies so that moths & lizards don't start a habitat there...& don't even get me started on the granite slab pebble walkway!! err so?? we're not moving out coz we hate our kitchen ok...hello!!! that would be all those boxes behind the stand-fan. Oh ya, it was really "fun" packing them...it's gona be even more fun unpacking them later

ohh lower floor..yea then you needn't be too concerned then

you mean you already paid 100% for all items or just the deposit? i'm not sure abott H&B practices but we were given the option to change any items as long as we gave due notice & as long as the total item costs were not cheaper than the deposit paid. It gives us time to make the necessary checks. blind faith vs substantial amount of $$$...hmmm $$ wins

Electricity Consumption
titanax replied to keltong's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
SPOWER's e-mail to me years ago, should still be relevant, except for the tariff part, which now is $0.2413 per kWH : Dear xxxxx, We refer to your email dated 04 June 2002. All electrical appliances are rated in Watts (Wh) or Kilo-watts (kWh), where 1 kWh is equivalent to 1000 Wh. The definition of a Kilo-watts (kWh) is the amount of electricity consumed per hour. Therefore, the higher the rating, and the longer you use the appliance, the more electricity the appliance consumes. The total electricity consumption by an appliance per day can be calculated by multiplying the estimated electricity consumed by the appliance per hour by the average number of hours used per day. Hence, using the example of a desktop for reference: CPU = 300 W Monitor = 100 W Total electricity consumption = 300 W + 100 W = 400 W Total electricity consumption in 1 hr = 400W x 1 hr = 400 Wh 400Wh = 0.4 kWh To find out the consumption in cost, simply multiple the total consumption by the tariff rate. So supposedly at an Tariff rate of $0.1502 per kWh used, after 1 hour of using the desktop, your consumption in $ would be $0.06008 (0.4 kWh x $0.1502 x1 hr). Should you require any further clarification, please do not hesitate to call our Hotline at 1800-235-6841. Yours sincerely, Law Wing Chi Customer Services -
