I bought my Amasco 46" Monte Carlo fan in chrome from Geylang for $580. It doubles up as a nice hanging lamp when the fan isn't turned on.

I second steamrsz's comments on Pure Airconditioning.

Good choice of fabric I'm using the same for my ottoman.

Yes, you are quite right. It's priced per piece. But $168 is still over my budget. Plus there is going to be more wastage because I want the lines to go horizontally for the drawers. I've till the end of this week to decide on silver or black. Worst case scenario, I can live with the black laminate drawers.

Yes, the mosaic wall blew a hole in my budget. That's why I can't afford the Aluminum Ripples laminate for my drawers (@ $168 per piece). I've to settle for the Brushed Black laminate @ $38 now. The top cabinets remain in Brushed Aluminum @ $90. I've asked the tiler to mix a grey grout for the mosaic wall so it blends in with the silver metal squares. I want the little mirrors on the mosaic to pop. The feature wall is created with cultured stone tiles, but they do look like real bricks. The tiler hasn't applied the grout, which will be regular cement color. I'm going to paint the wall in "barely grey" white to match the walls so the color of the grout doesn't quite matter.

Off to a great start for Week 3. The tiler did a great job with the feature wall in the living room: Can't wait for him to start on my kitchen backsplash tomorrow:

thanks ivy. i'll upload pics of the tile work next week. you can find more pics on my personal blog (link below). the handover is scheduled for mid-aug.
-
hi, the tile has a slightly rough surface so it will not be slippery when wet. the color of the tile changes when it gets wet too. very cool.
-
60cm is too high. I'm going to move as low as I can. Anyway, if you keep them all on one panel, the clean lines will be maintained.
-
I'm hiding all switches in the kitchen cabinets and aligning the power points along the side of the cabinet, just above the solid top. This way, I don't have to mess up my mosaic backsplash. Also, I'm hiding my toaster and coffee maker with a shutter. When I need to use them, I just pull the shelf out.

I got my system from Pure Air. The System 3 should be around $3.2K depending on installation requirements.

I just bought the new Panasonic Envio System-3. They are having a promotion now. Lots of PR on their eco-friendly technology. Nice sleek design too.

Sure, give my aircon guy from Pure Air a call. He has a wide range of brands for you to select. Good service, good price.

We started on the tile work today. So exciting Tip of the day: If you like to be fully involved, dry laying is an interesting and crucial part of the design process if you want your tile walls to look good. The rusty copper tile wall in the bathroom is going to look great, especially when the light hits on the rusty areas. The brick wall in the living room will enhance the overall loft feel. It will be painted in "barely grey" white to match the rest of the walls. The powder room will not have any tiles. As a design element, my ID has etched horizontal lines on the cement wall with a plastic scraper to create texture. It will stand out more after the whole room is painted with white epoxy paint.

I bought my Ariston Avant Garde Hob, Franke Linen Kitchen Sink (exclusive to Asia Excel) and Teka Elan Pull-out Mixer from Desmond. Great service, good price and very knowledgeable.

Gave up on that model too. Bought the Monte Carlo model that doubles up as a lamp when the fan isn't turned on. http://amasco.com.sg/products_detail.asp?pID=39&scID=1

Electrolux Front Load Washers And Dryers
Ripples replied to adrian_john's topic in Electronics & Electricals
I bought my washer (EWF1073) for $935 and dryer (EDE57160W) for $657 including free stacking kit at the last Electrolux sale. Both yet to be delivered. -
I'm using Pure Airconditioning too. Their pricing is better than Natural Cool. I bought the new Panasonic Envio System-3.

If you like a second opinion, call my aircon guy - Eddie (9858 9084) from Pure Air to take a look.

Hi My reno is going to cost around $65K The majority of the cost is spent on the kitchen and bathrooms. The remainder is spent on feature walls for each room like a metallic mosaic kitchen backsplash, a patterned wooden panel to conceal the 1st floor toilet, a cultured-stone wall in the living room, a vertical garden wall in the balcony, a full length mirror wall in the master bathroom, etc. I want each space to have a focal point. Hence, the price to pay! By the way, I think you did an excellent job with your reno. The transformation is fantastic. I'm sure you and your family will enjoy the space for years to come.
-
Hi Red Devil Yes, I'm calling everyone for the briefing tomorrow to make sure the corrections are done to my satisfaction. Luckily, I haven't paid for the aircon. I'll hold back the payment till the job is done. No, you don't have to apply for the permit yourself. Get the aircon company to apply it for you. My aircon guy did all the paperwork for me.

Beginning of Week 2: The debris has been cleared on the first floor. The kitchen/dining area space is huge Most of the cement work is done. We'll start to dry lay the bathroom tiles on Friday so they can start the tile work next week.

Thanks Char for your vote. Looking forward to view your pics.

I went around Geylang and Jln Besar this week and no one has any stock. They aren't bringing in new stock because the fan is too expensive.
-
Thanks Angel. I like the silver option too. However, the silver laminate is in the $168 range while the black laminate is in the $38 range. I'll have to look for a cheaper silver alternative or have to spend more. Corian Silver Birch Solid Top:
