Hi, I too stay in a condo and know very well of these weird management restrictions for the sake of 'beautifications'. Anyway I will suggest you a comination of (1) and (2). Dont put real plants in your planter area - just put in some fake plants which dont need to be watered but still can look pretty. Then install sliding grill door and just lock it. You can open it occasionally when adults are in home or your kids are being well looked after. Once your kids grow up, you can think of other alternatives. Hope that helps!!

Hi! If its not too late, here is my piece of advice. You can try the Gaylang Sarai Road in Paya Lebar. During this Hari Raya time, lot of shops put up their display counters along the roads. And there are quite a few who are selling carpets. They are beautiful and very reasonable (within $200 dollars). You have to burgain though. I have bought one and there has been no issue with the quality so far. About Ikea carpets - I have bad experience. I bought one for$250 and within 2 weeks, lots of fur/wools started coming out eveytime from the carpet and at the end we have to roll it and put inside the store room!

Hi sorry for hijacking this thread. can someone suggest me a contractor/roof guy to lay a gutter channel for my existing patio. The patio already have a roof top (polycarbonate cover) but during heavy rain all the water is splashing inside and making the whole place wet. I want to prevent the rain water from coming inside. Hi You can try at Unicane at Sungei Kadut. They are specialised in Rattan and teak wood and since they are wholesellers - prices are also quite reasonable. I bought my dining set from them. Service also ok. Another place is tropical lifestyle again at Sungei Kadut.

I know you didnt meant to be rude, but .... Anyway, I differ on your conclusion that low cost (although the bedframe we bought from Seahorse was not that cheap. The before discount price was around $1200 for queen size) means low service levels. Low cost can lead to poor quality but it is not directly related to the service level of the company. Example, I bought 3 lights (< 150 SGD) from lighting.com.sg which is one of the 'cheap' light shop in Balestair road. One of the lights turned out to be faulty (transformer problem) - when I called the shop, they arranged to send their men the next day to fix it. So I think it depends more on the company reputation/values rather than other aspects.

Yes I acknowledge that was a mistake. I didnt do it for the rest of the furnitures I bought from other places. But this was one of the initial buys and the salesman told us they dont take orders without full payments and we did it.

Hi Dean I am currently going thru my reno with Summit Design and honestly I think they are quite average. There are not much designs and workmanship is just above average compared to the price. U also have to monitor the work and schedule otherwise there will be deviation or delay in time (workers not available, work has not been finished, etc). So if u already know what u want to do (just browse thru some reno magazine/ internet for ideas), my advice to all will be to go for contractor rather than ID. Cause it will be a lot cheaper at the end. Since I have learnt and benefited from so many forummers here, I thought I will also share my input for the benefit of others.

Hi For the knowledge of all forummers, I have recently experienced very poor service levels from Seahorse. I bought two mattresses and 1 bedframe (Storage bed type) from Seahorse at Suntec City almost 1 month back. I have already made full payment. Last Friday they came to deliver and while assembling the bedframe, they found that it is defective and could not install. The delivery guy said that he will come back and do it on Tuesday ie tomorrow. I agreed to that. But Saturday, I was informed by Seahorse, that they can fix it only after 3 weeks!!! Reason is that their factory is in Hongkong and they dont have any service centers in SG! This is so unacceptable. If you are giving a defective furniture, you can not simply take so long to fix that (Note that they will only fix the existing bed frame and will not give a new one)!! I was very upset and called their Suntec branch and the sales guy very flatly denied to be of any help...I was really pissed off by the service level but since I have already paid in full, I guess I have not much choice but to wait.. Wanted to share this info with others, so that you are aware of the kind of services they offer!!

Hi I have bought few lights from lighting.com.sg. Beside being cheap their after sale service is also really good. One of the lights (ice cube) turned out to be faulty and in another they have given warm light instead of day light. So I called the shop and in 1 day time, they came and changed everything!! Also gave me free spare bulbs for the ice cube. They are really good. I will definitely recomment them to anyone.
