  1. If you decide to live in for more than 10 years, high grade laminate floor can last you a life time too. Given its warm n cosy feel that other floor materials may not offer. Laminate is cleaner n faster to install, no hacking work required. Plus higher grade LF offers sound bloc or silencer attatched to the underlay. Tiles look glossy n chic with certain style but current designers design your house using both or more different materials, mainly to deliver a more cosy n homely feel, even high end hotels will have their recept areas marbled combined with wood or carpet to contrast both feel and not forgetting their rooms which comes fully carpeted or wooded execpt the bathrooms. Just my observation...
  2. think its refering to 2 levels ba, correct me if i'm wrong.... or you can construct a platform???
  3. im very sure those are vinyl tiles, comes in 2-3mm thick glue down kind, they comes in wood & tile impression finishes. very maintenance friendly. you can basically use it in any part of your home besides the wet area. it also gives a cosy n warm feel when u choose wood, or even classy feel when u choose tile/marble finish... very interesting product...
  4. maybe u will like to survey the solid wood for indoor as well to feel the diff...
  5. any brands in mind? are you coordinating yourself?
  6. Is there a brand name from where you saw the sample? Maybe I can ask around to get more info and update you guys.
  7. Have you thought of overlaying with other flooring instead of hacking it up? Laminate overlay can be very cost effective and it provides a new look , unless you don't mind the current look.
  8. May I ask you, what kind of feel are you going for? Because both are still made from wood. Laminate - Best Abrasion resistance among other wood category Best Impact resistance among other wood category Vibrant color and wood tone. Feels like wood, comes in big looking planks or small staggered planks Slight hollow sound when walked on. Feels warm and doesn't gives chill when a/c is turned on Cost wise - affordable, easy intallation, less messy, less maintenance (only dry mopping needed), last a life-time Engineered - Real wood finish of choice (impact/abrasion resistance depends on wood species & kind of finishing) Real wood tone & color mix Real wood comes in long/short strips are available Better solid feel when walked on Feels warm and doesn't gives chill when a/c is turned on Cost wise - at least double the price of laminate, looks/feels like solid wood, installation takes a few days, NO expansion pre-caution needed, some maintenance required for restoring smoothness, worth trying as it doesn't cost as much as 100% solid wood
  9. You can drop by the SG Expo when they have Home Exhibitions Running, most LF co. will be featured there.
  10. Maybe we all can learn from this thread on prevention/maintenance on teak wood flooring, proper care of the wood floor is recommended for those who wishes longer life-span of teak flooring.
  11. if you are intending to re-varnish your parquet, you will need to hirer specialist to do the whole service, sanding down the eneveness across the whole floor before they re-laquer/varnish , finishes off in matt or glossy whole process may take just 1-2 days depending on size and living condition. If alot of furnitures usually they will need to hire extra manpower to move your furnitures, in order for a smooth process, you may want to move the furnitures before they arrive in the morning, so things can be sped up. I hope i answered your queries.
  12. Are you refering to those PVC kind which comes around 2-3mm thick and they uses glue to install?? If you are refering to those, they are called vinyl strips/tiles , these days they have woody finish, some comes in tile/marble replica too.
  13. LF comes from CH MY SWED GER in SG context, maybe you can check out with the sales. LF brought into SG will wear a certain quality level, ask for test reports if you are not sure, the respective LF co. will be able to produce, in these case home owner's maintenance also play apart in keeping the floor in good condition.
  14. Yeah , maintaining LF is not that diff after all, thumps upz !!!
  15. Can you elaborate what u mean by tired after mopping, is the mop not strong enuf to remove the dirt? or u have a big house n need alot of energy to mop it? magic clean and your 3m mop is seemed to be the lightest mopping equipement available to me. Nice Zen woody planty or pebbly are good combis. Mixture of pebbles n wood(laminate) with own designed carpentry tables to suite the design with adjustable low mini lamp or chandy, decorated with bamboo plants or CNY style tweeks r very ZEN...
  17. Tiling & constuction work. 7 To supply & lay 300x600mm imported marble (selective) with skirting for living cum balcony / dining / study / passage way. (Total 740 sqft). $14,800.00 8 To supply & lay parquet wood flooring for 3 bedrooms teak wood $2,900.00 skirting. Size ( 10" x 2" indo teak ) area (520 sqft).9 To supply & do cement screet for 3 bedrooms. $750.00 10 To supply & lay 300x300mm matt finish homo tiles for kitchen cum $1,200.00 service balcony. 11 To construct 10ft cooker & basin construct support with tiles finishing. $1,100.00 12 To construct cabinet / fridge / washing machine base. $450.00 I'm not sure if u realise that you can add a 12-15mm ply-wood between the screeded floor and parquet for better stability, it helps the parquet to have a stronger and lasting glue grip months/years after installation. Because when the glue between "dries" up through time, there might be loose pieces of parquet on your floor. You can oso ask for better quality glue to be sure, but be reminded good things not so cheap.
  18. Congrats on your BIG house, who needs landed & condos these days, with your space and the correct planning I'm sure it will be your haven of sanctuary eventually. I'm not so pro in RENO stuff but if you have any intention to incorporate any wooden kind of flooring to your design, maybe i can be of some help to you... Good Luck in Planning.
  19. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...mp;#entry405625 check this link for other owners quotes.
  20. Did you mean ply-wood backing for your flooring & moisture resistance ply-wood for constructing plat-form ?? your price seems very market rate to me, maybe u can get more quotes to verify my statement.
  21. Do they include you the whole range of items thyler mentioned? I guess u r paying a price for what you are getting. More items will include more cost, unless you don't intend to have all the additional features.
  22. Good things are not cheap. Cheap things not so good, if u worry of rip-off, get a few quotes to compare. I personally find it reasonable after i break it down. Get other users to verify my statement to be sure.
