Chasing my contractor for flying me aeroplane, or not sticking to my HO is definately not acceptable in my dictionary. I really take my hats off to those who can tolerate it. I certainly dont have the patience for people like this.

Pinkiedreamy, dont worry about Ah Soon fans. This forum is free for us to speak our mind. I hope this posting here can be a good reminder and notice to everyone on what makes a good contractor. Sticking to HO date agreed earlier is certainly one of them.

Gaku70, u r a strong person. If a contractor I pay my hard earned $ do this to me, he will get a big F from me liao. He or she can be sure of that. I mean datelines are datelines. Maybe its a lesson learnt for all. My friend told me before, he worked out an Agreement with his contractor that if he fails to handover the flat on that certain date, he will incure penalty charges. Something like that. Maybe its good, hot contractors like Ah Soon should have that clause embedded in the contract so he dont go back against his words when it comes to handing the unit on the agreed date. As for the $ you incurred, hope you can get back the $ from Ah Soon.If can't, what to do but just move on and hopefully a brighter day is waiting for you ahead.

Northwest Interior Nw
ncy replied to kksg2000's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Since there is a post now discussing about NW, I would also like to comment about my displeasure on them. I spoke to a lady as well. Basically aft discussion at her office, she never even bothered to come back to me. What kind of attitude is this? Is this NW so great that they can afford to cherry pick their customers? If yes, then I hope you get a reality check soon. If this is confined to the lady's boh chap attitude, hope NW wake up before this lady ruin their business and reputation. -
Will take the pics when they send it to my home tomorrow.

I am broke for now, so not getting AVR255 + HKTS 7BQ speaker system hahahaha. Just using my old Phillips HTS I bought couple yrs back. Btw, I was hanging around PC Show yesterday, saw Sharp booth partnering with Gain City is selling their A63 model at $1399. This is a very good price in my opinion for this model for a 42 inch Full HD. -
Yes if they keep quiet can assume its the std prevailing rates. But its always better to address in a jest like, "Hey, some agents are doing 0.5%". Test whats their reaction to this, I know I did that hahahaha

Hi SKQuek, I started mine like 1 mth before the reno date. And only managed to scheme through 5 contractors for comparison. So I reckoned if you start early, you can learn more the tricks of the trade and also have more contractors to choose and compare. So there is no hard and fast rule in regards to when to start sourcing.

I am also using 707 Compact. Had been using it for the past 1mth. Suprisingly the cheaper heater I bought, Mistral also is good. But then again not sure which of the 2 above will stand through the test of time.

Thanks Sam for the advise. I dropped by at Silver River and bought myself a side table for $89 and a bedroom side table for $99.
-
Yes it used to be like 2% for seller and 1% for buyer but I believe somewhere last year, the rules was changed making it flexi. I had personally met agents who are offering 0.5% for buyers.

I agree with you as well Thommy. I also have very very short span of tolerence with keep chasing people for something we are paying $$$ for. -

Thats true, this Audio House like to boast their stuffs are cheap, but when you check its really not that cheap. The Samsung Series 5 during the HN Warehouse Sale was also selling at $1199. Btw, how much did you paid for harmon home theater and whats the model #? -
How about Silver River at Little Rd, trustworthy and worth paying a visit?

I personally feel that there is simply no substitute to fire when it comes to cooking. I think induction cooker is a good to have like the 1 cooker set by Sona that one can keep in case those houses without PUB gas supply has run out of gas and is in need of cooking. Thats there induction can come in.

My Neighbour Have Elephant Pet
ncy replied to GiLBs's topic in Moving House: Packing, Storing, Moving To Your New House
The new house I moved in also almost same situation. While my home reno was going on in Apr, I am not sure whether downstairs or upstairs neighbour come and complaint to my contractor workers that the work done is too noisy. But then again, can it be helped? Have official letter from HDB and its done in accordance with the stipulated time where all works must be stop by 6pm. Now I am staying there and my upstairs neighbour quite noisy above. Running with huge footsteps, dropping stuffs on the floor, then some unidentified noises from their floor. I think its the kids doing as once I went upstairs, saw alot of school shoes outside their home. If this is indeed the neighbour that complaint about noise from my reno previously, I am dumbfounded. -
You can try going to Sim Siang Choon just to see the various range they have. Then identify what you like and then hunt down for the best bargain you can find islandwide.

I can comment based on my personal experience. I had stayed about 1 yr before in Potong Pasir. The unit I stayed there before also no PUB supply. Back then I was using Union as well. Didnt have any prob such as leakage or any safety hazards before. Thats y due to the price and also my personal experience using Union before, I went for Union again.

Yes I used a System 3 Panasonic aircon before. Bad experience. While I was renting, the owner installed Panasonic brand. The one is my room was leaking. I am not sure if its due to the fancoil itself or due to the trunking of the aircon. But what I do know is that aft it happened, I got someone to service it, then few mths later it happened again. So I really have bad experience with Panasonic. On the other hand, my friend in Msia also used the same model. His one was okay.No problem thus far. So guess it all depends on luck, maintanence and also maybe how the guys that installed it run the trunking. Anyway for my new home, I am currently using Toshiba Non Inverter System 3
-
Yes I agree as well this is indeed a very smart tactic. I did on individual basis, called up the stores individually to get the price and just award the buying to the stall that offers the cheapest. I even bought my aircon without stepping into the stall I buy from. However if I can turn back time, definately will use this method of bulk buy and award to the lowest in total.

If I can turn back the clock, LG is out of the list. But my soon to be wife is very particular about the drums. She said a machine with the drums moveable is not good. As for me I am idiot in choosing washing machine, I be better of choosing tv or aircon hahahaha.....

I bought LG washer top load model #WF-T95G00TED. Got it @ $599 with a $100 NTUC voucher. What I can say is that when I first got the washer, 3 problems cropped up. The machine emits a foul smell. Not sure why. Second is that the machine makes alot of noise, can feel the drum hitting against the wall of the machine, and 3rd but not least water starts to seap out of the machine.\ Got LG technician to come and look at it. He managed to do some balancing on my washer, then tried, not so noisy anymore. As for the smell, overtime, it has gone. As for the water seaping out, apparently its from the pipe. Maybe got blockage. Verdict, I am not really a fan of LG stuffs. I think their products are very surface, meaning make it nice on the surface. Durability and functionality is really a question mark here.

I had my fair share of experience buying Ikea furnitures when I was renting an apartment. Bought the sofa, coffee table, sofa bed and some other smaller items like side table, lamp....etc. From my experience, its ok to buy the smaller items from Ikea but I will really shun from buying their sofa, bed, wardrobe...etc. Think their stuffs r not long lasting. But then again, another man's meat is another man's poison.
