Thanks for your reply. The thinkness of Vinyl as compared to Laminates indeed an important factor to consider. Thanks.. Recently during a visit to an ID, the ID mentioned that Vinyl mentioned that Vinyl being rubber is definitely much more water resistant than rubber and hence the popping up of the surface is much less unlikely.
However, he still recommends laminates as some laminates like Supreme have lifetime warranty so you can be rest assured that it can be changed. In addition, Laminates are more scratch resistant and the labour work to lay vinyl is more costly. With these pointers I think I would very most likely go with Laminates. Unless another ID tell me another story. Will keep everyone here updated...
