  1. At least I know that I'm not alone. Yes precisely, keep saying he will call back then never call back. I mean I don't mind delays, but at least u tell me which is the confirm date that you will be carrying out the works. Don't keep delaying one day after another.
  2. Uncle's phone is really hotline. Always busy! Manage to call through also must see his mood whether he wants to answer or not. I'm saying this because I have personally seen calls coming in when I'm with him and he choose to ignore the call. Still no news of my tiles.........
  3. I really hope so. Thanks for the encouragement bergkamp.
  4. Thanks trevorcantona. Uncle's been Missing In Action. No progress so far after hacking. Its been 4 working days and no tiles delivered yet? Is the normal for Uncle's style?
  5. Seriously I beg to differ. I really dread the feeling of calling uncle and he always never lives up to his promise. Told me that he was going to sent in the tiles on thursday morning, so wanted to collect the second payment from me tonight. Collected payment on the same day and no tiles in sight for 4 working days(excluding weekends). He also always never answers his phone and doesn't bothers to call back.
  6. Thank you newnyew! Yes I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the end result. Thank you coffee_o for your constant encouragement!
  7. I am happy to announce that my renovation has finally started today!
  8. Uncle initially promised to start work on monday 28th of September but told me that he was busy and couldn't make it. Then he promised me to start tomorrow. Called and checked with him regarding the reno, answered me "yes yes my men will be going over at about 2pm". About 8pm I went to my house and checked, nothing was done. Called him a couple of times, no answer and no callback. It always happens. Guess I'll get this kind of brushing you off feeling very often from him.
  9. Result at the end of the day, another aeroplane flown. The hacking as promised is not in progress!!! Can i check with you guys 2 things about uncle, 1) how many of you have your renovation start date delayed ? 2) did you guys paid a 20% deposit upon signing the contract? Sorry I'm asking because I starting to get a little paranoid .
  10. Thank you for the warm welcome I didn't know uncle got another brother to handle his worker and stuff. Thank you for sharing this with me.
  11. thanks Actually renovation is suppose to start yesterday 29th September. But anyway it was kind of expected that Uncle will forget it. Actually me and my wife already anticipated it and it happened. So...rightfully should be starting today as promised by Uncle. Not sure will he fly me another aeroplane.
  12. Same here! My in-laws are in CCK too. Because both of us are working, we are hoping in the near future we can ask our in-laws to take care of the kids.
  13. Thanks Stay tuned! My new place is in Choa Chu Kang.
  14. Hi fellow brothers/ sisters of renotalk, through all the research and amount of work put in, whether be it meet up with ID/ contractors or even asking from fellow members of renotalk on lobang, I'm happy to have finally progress to the step of having my own T-Blog started. I would like to thank all members and especially those that have helped before. Without you guys, I'm sure the process will be tougher than that. Of course, everything doesn't just stop here, more research and stuff in time to come. I hope I can give back to the community by sharing what I have and what I know. Okay for renovation, finally settled with Uncle Soon, as our contractor for the job. But for starters, I thought I'll let you have a sneak of the Floor plan + before makeover. At the same time, I would appreciate pointers and feedbacks regarding this learning process as this is our first home. Enough said! Now for the pictures...... *** Floor Plan *** Before Makeover
  15. Hi trustsome1, I feel for you. That's exactly what I was experiencing. It happens to me as well. But I've end up engaging Uncle Soon for the project as me and my wife are already married and thought that it is friendly on our budget after much considerations. So we had to sacrifice time for money.
  16. Hi seashell, thanks for the offer. Will consider and get from you if decided to try out. Just some updates that uncle suddenly revived my confidence in him. He actually called me up and meet with me one of time to finalize the quotation. So far so good, definitely the one that bust my budget the least. Hope he won't give me the feeling of forgetting about me again.
  17. Many thanks to sugardaddy , blackcar and beany0811 for the informative advices. Sounds like changing the lock for all the doors and grilles seems to be a must-do.
  18. Hi guys, I was in quite a situation, did some search via the forum but was unable to find anything related. I was given a incomplete set of keys for a HDB resale flat. Some of the rooms are able to unlock with the keys given, some are not able to. May I know in my rights as a buyer, what is within my power? If there is nothing I can do, how much does it cost to find someone to make a key out of the current lock? Or even replace it with a totally new lock? Please let me know of your views on this. Thank you in advance!
  19. Yes ivy, that's what I thought and I really can't afford to manage the project myself at the expense of my time. Off-topic: why my fastfirefish became fatfirefish. I know I have been eating too much.
  20. Hi blackcar, yes I guess so. Can't have the best of everything. Anyway I think uncle's really not suitable for me, due to tight schedule as I will be getting my keys next week. Got to settle on somebody who is more responsive. Wish all other forumers have better luck dealing with uncle to get the best budget reno!
