Yes, usually the grand total will have a 10% wastage due to the length of the plank. If your house got more difficult corners special shape it could be worst. -
For Those Using Laminate Floor
gigi.wang.87 replied to cj9404's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
According to my knowledge, Supreme AC5 is being tested in Singapore PSB (able to withhold >6500) using their malaysia made from Stalheim Industries Sdn. Bhd thats why they proclaim as AC5. If you wish to find out more you can contact PSB Singapore. However as compare to Europe tests (AC3 - AC5) will be of higher standard, personally I would rather use Europe floorboard. Good real AC5 boards are available from Quickstep, Kronotex and Pergo have it and it cost around min $7. There is an upcoming laminate floorboard call the Parador. Parador (http://www.parador.de/en/) has 19 colours. They have the first ProAir system for laminate flooring and engineered wood flooring that clearly reduces unhealthy airborne substances indoors such as formaldehyde and unpleasant smells such as tobacco smoke. The ProAir system is based on the organic protein, Protectin. Using an innovative process, the active substance is applied at the factory. Protectin sets off a physiochemical process, which ensures that harmful substances and emissions are absorbed, broken down and neutralised - an active principle that was derived from nature. This process is permanently effective due to the almost inexhaustible absorption capacity of the ProAir system. This is confirmed by extensive tests by the ECO Institute for the Environment. With Parador ProAir you can breathe freely. (gotten from germany website) -

Tarkett Laminated Floor
gigi.wang.87 replied to songyuhan's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi Mito, I can understand from your point of view. I would have been fed up if I had been misled by the amount in such a huge difference from $2.9k to $4k after final measurement. However I did notice that it was $3.6k from the floor plan and subject to measurement, thus the $4k came. It was an increase of $400. I have friends whom have installed Tarkett laminate floor board and it was never decrease from the first quotation cause of the wastage and stuff. I have to say that it was the service of this particular salesman whom had miss out your bedroom and cause the confusion. He could have put your selected colours on the quotation and this will further reduce the confusion of not having the actual same colours. I totally agree that services performance in Singapore should improve. -
You can also try Tarkett comes in AC4 standard $5.50 for non-V-grove with V-grove (>$6.20), I chose the non-vgrove. The advantages from these boards are trees from deforestation and comes with ion formal delhyde. They have factory installation license and it's from Sweden. So far in the market only kronotex comes with AC5 standard with 12mm thickness, however it is very expensive (est $8++).
