Wow, 500 extra to change the door? Ok thanks for your advice, time to make some decisions soon.

Hi again, Yeah we went to all those places too haha, except we went to Alumix over at Toa Payoh instead. We kind of crossed Ximula out because of the price. Did you consider Alumix?

Hi Vinmiche, I went to Choo Chiang at AMK and I got the prices for the silver LeGrand switches. 1 gang 1 way: SGD2 2 gang SGD4 3 gang SGD5.80 4 gang SGD8.20 1 13A SGD3.80 2 13A SGD6.80 heater SGD9.00 doorbell SGD4.00 SCV pt SGD4.00 telephone pt SGD4.00 All before GST. Hope it helps. And my ID says its usually better to stick to white, unless you have a wall with wallpaper or your wall colour suits silver. Else, you may have "silver spots" on your walls. Oh and my electrician wanted to give me MK switches. I asked to give LeGrand and he said all the wiring costs will cost 20% more. What a bum. Anyway TS, sorry to hijack. Haha. Wanted to ask what is Everjoint's address. Need to get appliances. Thanks!

Hi Kartell, Went to ClosetDesign to find Luke, but he wasn't there that day. Ended up eating Bak Kut Teh instead.. hahaa Anyway, wanna ask you about closets, want to compare the type of wood used by Lumiera, Cupboards, Alumix and ClosetDesign. Any idea? Thanks!
-
Hey Dan, My friend is using Lumiera and she swears it is the best. Haven't personally seen it though...

Kick his nuts.

Where you headed to anyway? Some of us on this forum might have been there before.

Wow, fast replies! Thanks! So, do these sets have to be a special type, or any teapot set that we see will be good enough? Saw a few of these at Chinatown Point but not sure if this is the tea ceremony type... Thanks again!

The cheapest option is to go borrow from the library. I did that for all my travels. Then, if you want, you can photocopy the pages that you are interested in and bring it along with your trip. Takes up less space and is lighter. Have fun planning your holiday!

Hi guys, My wedding is coming up and I was wondering where I can find the tea set for the tea ceremony. Thanks!

Hi, for your BLUM cabinets, did you ask your contractor to install the system during the carpentry time, or did you add it in yourself (as in buy direct from BLUM)? And apart from BLUM, got any other anti-slam, or soft closing door companies? Cos I hear that BLUM is pretty steep...

Probably for the next 10 years. So, if yours 20 years still ok... maybe 10 years just about right to leave and let the next guy do the rewiring then haha! Yeah, the rewiring is quite expensive, quoted like 50 bucks for each lighting point, 70 bucks for single 13A points, 90 bucks for double 13A points. Comes up to quite a bit!
-
Hi pinkpetter, need to ask a question since I see you quite seasoned already... My place is a 12 yr old condo. Wondering if it is necessary to do rewiring of the whole place? If don't need, I will only do wires for new lighting points etc. Can save a lot of money! Thanks!

Oh okay, I'll go check it out tomorrow! Last time I was there, I was served by a lady. Hopefully Luke will be around tomorrow. Thanks!

Hi, in the end, got a unit at Chiltern Park, just in front of Lorong Chuan MRT. Hehe. Convenient. Actually I liked The Florida, nice family themed place. But the place I was looking at was being sold because the owners were divorcing. And, since my wife and I just got married, decided not to go ahead with it. Not nice vibes lah. Price was very reasonable too. When we went to view, almost got problem with security because one party said sell, the other party don't allow viewers to go see. So, decided better not lah. Hehee..
-
Nais!!! By the way, did you check out other closet companies like Alumix and Cupboards and Lumiera? I first went to Cupboard Design months ago and I actually thought they were quite expensive... Or is it just me?

Think can DIY. No need electrician. But I hear switches and power points are easier. Heaters are tougher. Anyway, FYI guys, got these prices for clipsal from Chan Huat last weekend. It's the normal white one without LED: 1 Gang: SGD4.60 2 Gang: SGD8.15 3 Gang: SGD10.50 Heater: SGD15.75 Doorbell: SGD7.80 Phone point: SGD6.95 Single 13A point: SGD5.55 Double 13A point: SGD10.50 Dimmer: SGD16.60 Anyway, my ID offered me MK. I didn't really notice it in Chan Huat because it was more expensive than Clipsal. Think I should take the bait?

Mansionette should be 1500 sqft thereabouts right? Hmm, should be ok I guess. For your kitchen cabinet, the price looks reasonable. But since it is not specified, you could ask your contractor what laminate they are using, does it have ABS trimming, type of rollers. Should be included for that price. Also, ask your contractor whether it is a good idea to overlay your tiles in the toilet. Means, the tiler will have to check and see if the old tiles are hollow underneath, which may be the case if water has seeped through. If it is, then the old tiles are not so secure. Hence, if you overlay new tiles over the old ones, and if the old ones get loose, so will your new one. But, if the old tiles are ok, then overlaying is fine. Speaking of tiles, check with your contractor what price of tiles he is getting. If he says, for example, SGD2.90 psf tiles, then you know if you choose something more ex you will have to top up. If less, then discount lor...

ID Emboss is a sub of Ko Hong. Used to be able to get a GST waiver through ID Emboss but not anymore since it is now a GST-listed company. OrangeCube is not bad. They have quite nice designs, and... once in a while, you can get GST waived too. See their quota. For cupboards, can check Cupboards by OM. They are at IMM and Liang Court. The outlet at Liang Court has more cupboard displays. But, they are on the relatively more expensive side. Actually, they are having a promotion now. Second set that you purchase is 50% off. Might be quite worth it. Another cupboards company would be Lumiera which is located at Furniture Mall. So far, after comparing Alumix/Ximula, Cupboards and Lumiera, Lumiera is the cheapest. They say they use solid wood imported from Australia. Seems not bad-lah. Worth checking it out. All the best with your reno!

How big is your HDB flat? With regards to your painting, better specify what type of paint, whether or not they will paint the pipes, doors, door frames, etc. For SGD1900, your unit better be HUGE and they better cover everything =)

Very nice! And The Florida! I almost got a unit there. But not the penthouse. Decided to go with another project in the end. Nonethless, very nice work!
