  1. Kiven, cheer up. Hopefully things will get better from here.
  2. I love your tiles!! Wanted to do something like this for common bathroom but contractor and hubby afraid orange will be too dark.
  3. I'm doing good but can already feel the tiredness of having to shuttle between houses and workplace. Thanks. Yeah we're gonna be firm. Glad that the reno co is also accomodating. Thumbs up to them despite the initial hiccup.
  4. The price is not so bad cos the floor's area quite big. Yeah, I can survive on Mac also but have been warned by the husband not to eat too much fast food. Haha. He can foresee me making trips down to Mac on my lazy days.
  5. Visited the house a 2nd time today, after work. The wardrobe was up in 1 day - today Common toilet wall tiles rectified - orange for the shower area MBR toilet wall tiles rectified - all the whites have been taken off, correct beige tiles are up
  6. Hi Ann, Your reno is turning out okay so you can bid your worries goodbye for now =)
  7. After the wrong tiling, I've became a more cautious owner and made an effort to go to the new place every morning (past 2 days) to check on the reno. Today, am very pleased with the electrician. Rooms' new SSO and telephone lines have been installed. Kitchen and common floor tiles have been laid. The tilers have removed all the wrong tiles and are still waiting for SBH to deliver the reordered tiles. Wardrobe was halfway up when I came at 11am, should be done by today. I'll put up the pics later when I get home from work. Another happy news, reno co said it's ok to remove painting works from quotation.
  8. Welcome to RT. Just like you, I've also just realised there's a 24hrs McDonalds near my new place too. Think you've got yourself a real good bargain. How to find 3k COV nowadays? Ours was at 15k COV =( Good luck in securing a good reno co.
  9. New, your house looks fabulous, I don't know where to start commenting. Everything looks very good. The toilets look cool, different from what I've seen so far.
  10. Really cool chairs. Congrats on the completed reno and enjoy your new house =)
  11. Your reno progress looks good. All seems to be falling in place. Looking forward to the photos.
  12. Ok, meeting went well just now. Contractor's nightmare is coming true cos we have told them to redo, by hook or by crook cos those done were not what we wanted. They had to reorder the tiles just now. Hopefully it will come by this afternoon. Electrician has started work today and Im very happy with him so far. Do you think we can scrap painting works from the quotation even though we have already signed for it. The reno co is charging us 1.6k for whole house painting. I just got a lobang at 900 bucks. Save $$.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement seashell and the rest. We WILL try to get them to redo but what pissed me off big time was an sms from the on site manager. I already told him I am coming and since my husband already complained to the project manager (aka owner of reno co) about the tiling, the PM is also coming down. Then this site manager smsed me to say, "Pls pardon me, I only need one person to be decision maker." Now who has MORE right to be there? Even if PM is there, I'm still the owner and even PM has to listen to what I want right?
  14. Was glad that we met the electrician today because we got to see the tiling works. However, we are very unhappy because the turnout was not what we expected. Tomorrow there will be a meeting between us (owners), project manager and site manager. This was what I got for my common bathroom We expected to see more orange but we only got 2 miserable strips. An almost white bathroom! Not what we wanted. My husband wants them to remove and retile. Im just hoping things won't turn ugly. But I'm very frustrated. Master bathroom The bathroom is supposed to be in beige yet we are seeing white tiles in the area. The white is just supposed to be at the shower area (front and back). =(
  15. Decided to scrap the electrical works from my quotation and engaged our own electrician. He came down to the flat today and quoted us for an estimated amount of $950 4 nos of new double socket outlet 1 no of SCV point @ $70 4 nos of telephone point @$40 each divert lighting points for a 3 areas change all switches to Clipsal and sockets change electrical db 14 ways install all lights Our initial quote from the reno co was a. light/ceiling fan points – 2 nos. @ $50 =100 b. 13A twin SSO – 3 nos. @ $60 =180 c. heater switch for hood / hob – 2 nos. @ $60 =120 d. SCV point – 1 no. @ $120 =120 e. telephone point – 1 no. @ $100 =100 f. remove and install only new light fittings (chandeliers) – 12 nos @ $15 =180 And this was only the provisional amount. Doesn't even include all the changing of switches, etc.
  16. Yeah true. Haven't even buy lights =( Definitely more $$ flying.
  17. Ok thanks. I'm definitely painting over it too.
  18. dmay, you are using Citygas. Is the piping in copper and can we paint over it?
  19. Mickey!! So nice. Really can't wait to see the finished product. Cool man.
  20. Hi, welcome to RT =) At first it looks like a simple reno but when you see the amount of work to be done, it is actually quite an overhaul. I thought my reno could be minimal too but having to change this and that, it became quite a major reno.
  21. Went to my house today to talk to the technical officer in charge of my reno. The reno co. was so nice. They actually sent postcards to inform my neighbours of my ongoing reno (actually advertising gimmick also la right). They included the phone number of the technical officer so pity him if people call in to complain about the noise. Heh. Managed to take this pic only of the house. Reno day 3 One guy was busy closing up the entrance of the mbr toilet. Tiles have been delivered. They're starting tiling works tomorrow onwards. The Citygas guys are coming up to install the piping tomorrow. Now I'm a bit concerned because my piping will be in stainless steel but Citygas pipes are in copper. Thought wanna have the stainless steel look. Must consider repainting all pipes to have a uniformed look. The guy said citygas pipes might not be able to be painted. Can anyone confirm? Very ugly lei!! Anyway, bought the sanitary wares and toilet accessories from Heritage already. Now $2000+ poorer =( Settled for a Critzo sink, supposedly anti scratch. Actually very sad because I wanted the stainless steel pipe for under the basin but both the technical officer and the salesman said that PVC is better and last longer. Cannot achieve the look that I wanted but choice got vetoed by the husband aka financier. Next week probably going to Balestier for lightings. Mickey, saw your kitchen light in Vlux but it cost $300+ after discount. The husband made noise saying why I want such an expensive light for my mini kitchen. Haha.
  22. Thanks Mickey for your input. Have just received the schedule of work from contractor. HO is fixed on 4th Feb and I really hope can finish on time. Tomorrow going to buy sanitary wares and lightings.
  23. Yeah CJREDDEVIL, as long as reno, of course excited. Thanks. Happy new year to you too.
