  1. I don't think sandblastered glass are done by spray painting. Usually they hit the glass surfaces with sand particles and then wash off.
  2. possibly a few issue. Some might be tiles having problem with uneven thickness, some might be tiler workmanship issue. As a whole, beyond repair. How to take out? Only way is hack off everything n redo. Haha!
  3. Some of my purchases so far: 1) Hob - Hobz tempered glass hob. I feel it looks good with high flame suitable for asian cooking. 2) Hood - Hobz hood which high fan flow speed. Well, in principle high fan flow doesn't necessary = oil retention efficiency but if speed is slow, it will make everything worst. 3) Washer. My wife and I consider very long before choosing this model which we are going to order shortly. We compare between Samsung, LG and Panasonic inverter. Since washing machine is used like 2 hrs per day or every 2 days, inverter dont seems necessary. Therefore we decided on Samsung, WA12VP because of Diamond drum, mist shower, AG+ and the 5 years motor warranty. 4) Fridge. Since we are going to on the fridge 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it is better to consider one with better energy efficiency. Therefore we thought Panasonic inverter will be useful. Took us 1 week to finalize the above..
  4. My place already start hacking yesterday and will continue today. Wow! Whole house is extremely messy. Patrick's standard is very high which is good 1) He rejected the whole lot of foyer tiles because the tiles have different thickness and some has slight warpage. It looks reasonable and acceptable to me with very slight problem but since he say not good, will return and re-choose another design. 2) He also say the kitchen sink is not suitable for undermount despite shop saying can undermount because the surface is not the flat type. Patrick mention can do but there will be issue in future so I need to change it. I read that for undermount, if we didnt do properly, it is a very drastic change because by replacing sink, have to remove the whole solid top...Wow! Nightmare. Overall a very detail person...Hope everything will progress smoothly.
  5. Mine got approved easily but lots of rules etc...
  6. Guys From what I know, RHB is the cheapest but whether it is the best in terms of service, I dont know. If you want to add in electrical, curtains etc, ask your contractor/ ID to be middleman else it cannot be done. Also **** strict because they need your contractor to sign and also put down renovation company name etc...As for those non company registered, I dont know can or not
  7. Hi I have spoken to opennet till I vomited blood..haha! If you are a young chap, by all means call their hotline..Ok, back to your questions. 1) Hide fiber inside false ceiling? Impossible from what I know unless you open up your ceiling for them. 2) Drilling holes in ceiling and let cables run through? Impossible too because they say without trunking, will affect the cables.. 3) Opennet contractor install trunking inside false ceiling? Impossible too. They will do it outside From what I know, the only way for opennet to run the trunking and cables thru your ceiling is to open up your ceiling, then get them to run the trunking inside the ceiling. I know this is **** frustrating and lots of bull**** but this is the only way.
  8. Hi I feel inverter for washing machine may or may not be practical. Why? Top load washing machine dont use as much electricity as compared to front load ones. Therefore I feel no need to go for inverter since they cost more. How often do we wash or clothing? once a day or once every two days? Practically I dont think we will use as much as fridge (running on 24hours) or aircon (consumes a lot of power). Might as well consider samsung diamond drum with AG and mist shower? Since it removes bacteria and also save water or other brands?
  9. I wanted to get this initially but I think what is the use of inverter since we don't use washing machine as frequent as fridge or aircon. Is it really worth paying for the inverter?
  10. good! Haha! I feel very nice tiles. What laminate did you choose to go with your design?
  11. I wonder how good is toshiba washer but panasonic is confirm good. My mum's panasonic lasted us close to 10 years. Now I intend to get samsung diamond drum. Less tangling, AG+, mist shower. Looks good!
  12. I just started a reno t blog for my reno. Anyone interested can view at my reno t blog. Thanks
  13. I guess we need to confirm our fridge size and washing machine size as soon as possible so that they can proceed to build the base. Currently, I have shortlisted the following models: - A) Fridge 1) Panasonic Inverter, NR-BY601X. I presume this is a great fridge and will probably save power over time. Electrical charges are so high nowadays so I think Inverter might be a good move 2) Samsung, RT63. This is also a power efficient fridge. Really tough to select. B) Washing machine 1) Samsung diamond drum, WA12VP. Seems like good features with mist shower and AG 2) LG, WFT1000. My friend say LG washers are good.. No big difference really but my wife and I dont like the detergent compartment for the Samsung washer. Too tight.
  14. I will be changing my foyer and kitchen tiles only. I will not be hacking the rest of my areas.
  15. We have been staying here for close to 8 years already and we think it is time to renovate our old place. During this renovation, we decided to engage FSM to provide his input. After speaking to 2 contractor and 5 ID, I decide to go with Patrick from Ho Bee Renovation since I can do some sketches myself and probably design our home ourselves. After discussion with FSM and contractor, this is the finalize layout. We decide to give the living, dining and kitchen a total facelift. There are nothing much to touch up for the rest of the area.
  16. Hi Just to share my personal experience: 1) I have asked a total of 6 companies to quote: A) Ho Bee, B) 4 ID companies, C) One home based contractor 2) 3 ID companies are > 20% higher than Ho Bee, 1 ID company is 10% higher than Ho Bee, Home based contractor is 15% lower than Ho Bee 3) Out of 6 companies, Ho Bee has their own HDB license, 2 other ID also has their own HDB license and they rest all outsource tilting and hacking to others with HDB license 4) I suspect one of the ID is a contractor with 3D drawings and rendering. Reason is because the other 3 ID are very good in color matching, blending, layout etc...but the so call "ID contractor" is lost at color blending and layout. 5) I find out that some IDs didnt put in all the optional items. For example, layout of single gang switch or adding of blum hinges etc..Ho Bee put everything in black and white as optional items 6) One of my friend feedback some IDs/ contractor everything can before signing contract and after signing contract, everything cannot so choose wisely. 7) As for pricing, difficult to gauge and compare apple to apple. A cheaper one might not be good/ bad and a more expensive one might not necessary be good. As ppl says, good things dont come cheap. 8) As for 3D, after renovation, it is useless. So I really wonder it is necessary. I just engage Patrick and reno is going to start next week. Let me share my experience later.
  17. Usually standard made ones are average in quality and also I find e tracks like flimsy. custom ones can actually choose the design, laminate n of course better supported tracks.
  18. any pics to show? If we wants to buy those stainless steel wire baskets for kitchen cabinet, do we need to get Patrick to buy or we need to buy?
  19. Is it a good idea to use white glossy laminate? I worry it will be scratched and the white will turn yellowish fast.
  20. Hi Some people didnt submit but for mine, my contractor submitted already. I am still waiting for HDB to approve. Once I got it, I will update here. I think it is possible but it depends on some condition and location. Approval subjected to HDB's approval..Not within our control.
