hi doremon, yours is a 5 room i guess? mind sharing which contractor/ID quoted you? you can PM me if you dont wish to publish the name here. coz i am also in the midst of finalising the contractor/ID. here's my personal take on it: 1 To supply & lay Living, Dining & homogeneous floor tiles (up to $3.40 psf tiles)$3,000.00 2 To supply & lay Kitchen homogeneous floor tiles incl. waterproofing $1,200.00 maybe you would like to check out which tile shop is the contractor/ID using? then check out the tiles there and see if the price range is to your liking. for all you know, the tiles you like cost below $3.00. i am assuming that the tile range for the kitchen is the same. 13 Additional storage option for kitchen $960.00 what is additional storage option? 35 Double electrical point - $60 per pt this is kinda vague. the electrical part may cost more, esp if the no. of points is larger. also depends on whether you have false ceilings, L-box and the wiring for all these may need to be done. maybe you can get them to quote based on a fixed no. of points and for each additional point thereafter. another way is to do site visit and do more planning as to the no. of points. What about installation of lights and electrical fixtures? installation of bathroom wares and accessories? installation of kitchen wares and accessories? I am assuming that they have come to do measurement in your home before giving you this quote? If not, perhaps you should get them down and do detailed measurement. The pricing might change after that. LV -
Granite Tops Just checking with those who have used Granite tops. How thick should it be? Other than China and/or Europe, any other possible source? Kitchen Cabinets Do I need to let the contractor know I intend to use Blum drawers? If I use the Blum drawers that can take a heavier load, does it mean the contractor need to ensure the cabinet can hold the load? Thanks ! LV

just to add to what ossify said....if u are really concerned, u can buy the paint and just ask u contractor to paint for u. or you can get ICI or Nippon to supply u with paint n paint ur house for u. sometimes i get brochures or catalogues (from ICI or Nippon) in the mailbox with promotions for painting the entire HDB flat. just my thoughts. hmm..thats what i thought too....15x600....pple wont know its not laminate...until they see it up close....hahaahah.... so now i hv 2 choices...homogenous or ceramic....any ideas on the cost of per 15x600 tile?
-
hihi, thanks for the explanation....sigh...looks like hv to rethink the plans.... the initial thought was that a cassette in the centre of the living room will have equal distribution of the cold air, since there are 4 directions, rather than from only one direction. LV

hi mickey, will check SBH out...thanks for the tip LV

Tiles Just wondering if anyone has used floor tiles that look like laminate/wood. Are they ceramic tiles or other type? Any tiling shops to recommend for that type of tiles? Thanx in advance !
-
thanks....will check it out.... Thanks for the tip....just wondering why cassette not allowed in HDB. Is it coz of its weight and HDB worried that false ceilings cant hold its weight? or is it coz after installing the cassette, the ceiling height would be quite low.......
-
actually, the cassette type i was referring to is like the one below:

Air-con I've got a question on air-con. Am planning to do a system 3 for the bedrooms and a system 1 for the living room. But not sure if system 1 can cater to my living room. Had a headache figuring out where to place the fan coil for the living room. Was considering using a cassette system instead of a wall system for living room, but was told that HDB does not allow that. Is it true? Anyone use a cassette system for HDB before? Current owner dont have aircon in living room....just a ceiling fan.
