  1. Congrats on your new place! Since you have decided on it and can't change it, ENJOY IT!
  2. haha.. if your quote includes kitchen cabinets+ blum+sink+hob, can!
  3. Maybe what can be done is to use 1 countertop (62cm) as a base, then place 2 countertops on top of it (the 2 countertops meeting at the centre with overhang from the base and cutting it to desired width)... like this
  4. I'm scratching my head over the cost of the stainless steel countertop for the kitchen.. 1 contractor quoted me $1,800 for 15ft of stainless steel countertop. The other quoted me $950 for 14 ft. That means the first quote is abt $120 per ft while the other is only $68 per ft! So is one too cheap or the other too expensive?
  5. nice! can't wait to see how your epoxy flooring turns out!
  6. Ooo... looks like we are all going to DIY our dining table! If my door tabletop doesn't work out I'll be going down to Ikea to do the same thing...
  7. Hi gimz, check with you..without the top-hung cabinets, how did you place your kitchen lights so that your countertop area will be bright enough and won't get shadows when you stand and chop things?
  8. Very happy for you! So what's the final bathtub layout that finally got approved?
  9. Am thinking of doing cement screeding for the whole flat's flooring (incl kitchen and bathroom). can those who have done cement screed floor share if it's slippery when wet (esp toilet)? I don't want my parents to slip and fall. Having cement screeding will also do away with grout lines on the floor (which I hate!) Spray painting is an option, but it's not cheap.
  10. I'm using bedrm dr, not the main dr, so it's likely to be hollow.
  11. So exciting! I wanna see completed photos!
  12. Hollow door cannot ah? Pots of food shouldn't weigh that heavy bah?
  13. Talking about lights... was thinking of doing either this http://www.instructables.com/id/Barrel-Drum-Lamp-Shade/ or this milo tin lamp http://www.readymade.com/projects/article/...an_pendant_lamp
  14. Sure, of coz u can copy! then I can see how it looks like first PVC pipes may not be strong enuff though, you may need to use galvanised steel pipes. I did think of using non-inverter, but I'm a very light sleeper, so whenever the air-con goes off, I'd wake up coz of the sound and no "wind" is circulating. Lights are not going to be a feature in my place.. i just need plain, ordinary types.. I've got 2 metal bird cages that i bought in HK abt 8 yrs ago which I'm going to re-purpose into lamps if the electrician can do it for me.. that will probably be the only unique lighting aspect for me...
  15. Heh... hoping whoever I get to do my place to help me do it... I will use one of my bedroom door as the top, laminate it, then hopefully get someone to get the pipes, paint it and drill it.
  16. For me, because I don't cook that much, it's not that much of a problem. Mine will all probably be 1 pot dish .
  17. Took a walk around HN & Gain City today..didn't expect the gas hob and WM to be so expensive.. gave a call to Goh Ah Bee too... GAB can't give an discount and the price is not that competitive (maybe $50 or so less than retail price). Am wondering if I have to go down in person so that they can give me a better quote..:-( Gain City quoted me $2089 for a MHI System 2 inverter+installation. Add $150 for the s/s brackets, $60 more for upgrade to 1/2 insulation (no upgrade, it's 3/8 inch) and$60 more for gauge 22 (no upgrade it's Gauge 23).Just checked the price of the same thing on Coolserv and it's abt the same price.. am wondering if it's worth it and can bargain till how much freebies.. Will probably go down Jln Besar tmrw to check out the cost of all the toilet stuff and lights. Will also check the Bellari outlet there too. Their website kena virus 1 yr ago till now haven't fix. GR link, Poh Joo, Hoe Kee & Lightings.com.sg-- here i come!
  18. Hi, would like to check for those who bought a domino GAS hob (not induction), which brand did you buy and for how much and where did you buy it? I just went to Harvey Norman and saw the electrolux, bosch and brandt gas hobs in stainless steel and glass. Really like the bosch domino gas hob in glass BUT SO EX!! It's double the price of those in stainless steel! Electrolux also not bad coz got cast-iron stand, but somehow it didn't quite appeal to me... So would really appreciate everyone's advice on this!
  19. How about you don't put in a tub but build a partition wall( to the usual height of a tub), tile the floor area and the partition wall, so that it becomes your tub? That way, it's technically still a "shower area" but one with a REALY HIGH curb. I've seen an old H&D magazine that did it, let me see if I can find it and scan it for you.
  20. Hi Reira, Can you give me the contact of your electrican, plse? Thanks!
  21. Pictures from the Valuation Report:
  22. Heh...got it already! I really want to do what they did... have a whole wall for figurine display.. But that would mean no space for bks... so am still thinking how to balance it out..
  23. It's the whole look with the chairs that makes it so drool-worthy.. not easy to find..
  24. Wah... very nice! Do you have a dishwasher? I don't see a place to dry plates after washing..
  25. Can someone also pm me Alex's contact?
