  1. Oooo... the unveiling ceremony!! Love your countertop! Is the countertop matte s/s?
  2. This week was a visit Geylang and Jln Besar period. At Geylang, went to Universal Union, Heritage, Baceras, Homeone,A lighting, Toyomi (next to A lighting) and whatever else between Lorong 25 - 35. Was not impressed by the service at UU and Heritage at all! UU salesman gave monosyllabic answers and was more interested in answering his phone than attending to me even though I went on a weekday afternoon and there were very few customers. Heritage's selection was small and the sales person was a little snooty. I spent the most time at Baceras and was rather impressed with their 2nd flr's selection of sinks. They have things there that I've never seen in any other shop! So may probably go back there again to get the MBR bedrm sink. Went to Jln Besar today and GR link was sadly closed. So went to Hoe Kee, Song Cho, Bellari, Royal Fanco, Adamas. Was served by May in Adamas and I made a deposit of $200 for the following stuff: -Bravo 1818 Kitchen sink (matte s/s)+dishwasher dispenser+ sink trap (s/s) $240+25+90 kitchen sink tap in matte finish -Lab sink for common toilet (to handwash clothes)$250 -Cuizino tempered glass domino gas hob (single burner) $220 -Bennington Multipoint heater $240 -MBR toilet shower set+rainshower(forgot to take picture)$280 - might discard the rainshower head and just have a common showerhead -Common toilet mixer+ shower head $230+80 -Where possible, I tried to get a matte finish for the mixers and taps to minimize cleaning of water marks but those tend to cost a little more. Everything is apparently made in Italy (haha.. not sure if it's just designed in Italy but made in China) but the shower stuff come with a 2 year warranty so not that bad lah.. Total damage was $1640. Am still short of the WCs and the MBR washbasin, then I'm done with the bathrm & kitchen essentials. Have finalized my kitchen and loo lights and my ceiling fans (will drop Crestar starlight.. too ex) and use Fanco Aroma for the LVR and MBR.. one dissappointing thing that all the lighting shops told me was that the light from the ceiling fans would not be strong enuff and I would need supporting lights, so I've a bit of headache for that since I don't want to do cove or downlights. Will be heading to M'sia next week and if I've time, will see if I can get the kitchen n loo lights from there and hopefully safe a bundle by buying there.. not sure if I've the time to leave and shop around though, but we'd see.
  3. Gimz, $150 hacking and patch skirting cheap! One contractor quoted me $300 for hacking and patching skirting while the other quoted me $380!
  4. 56' meh? I tot 54' niah..
  5. heh.. yah hor.. Maybe when i go to Home expo again.. ask them to draw a rough sketch for me.
  6. Went to Home Expo yesterday with friend yesterday night and was contemplating between Parador Timeline Series in Oak Silver Grey and the Pergo Family Series (can't rem the code but it's also greyish color). Price diff is quite great : $7 pfr for parador compared to $3.99 pfr for pergo. family.. of coz parador is supposedly from germany and has the pro-air thing that cleans the air around you. Parador is also prepared to hack and patch my skirting area FOC..I like the Timeline series because of the width of the planks. Am seriously wondering if I should splurge on the floor or not. Went around expo and and fell in love with the Crestar Starlight ceiling fan series. It's extremely quiet with a simple lighting kit, DC motor instead of AC motor and comes with a lifetime warranty. It's $480 incl of delivery and installation. Fanco Aroma was selling for $350 incl of installation n delivery. Will be going to Jln Besar to check out the prices before going back to expo again to decide. Crestar Starlight - probably for MBR Fanco Aroma - LVR and maybe CBR (notice that the designs are all rather similar.. )
  7. Philips sale no more liao... 3 days only.
  8. Here are 2 other plans I had thought about. Kitchen 3: I think it's neater and gives a wider sense of space. But this layout means that my steamer and oven would be on the other side, which I'm not that keen as I feel I'd be using the steamer and oven more than the hob. Kitchen 4: the most compact design with everything a turn away..but is it too cramped?
  9. Yah.. lighting is a concern..that was why I was asking you about how your lighting is..haven't figured a way out of this without having some sort of top shelving with undertop lighting... oven and steamer are not built it. Steamer must pull out and away from any top cabinet so that the steam will not ruin the cabinet. Retractable surface-a possibility but would be dependent on the cost.. Having a door to conceal the rubblish chute is actually more to gain extra storage space by hanging stuff inside the door... (keep rags, plastic bags, etc) I'm thinking of placing the cat litter box where the pipes are..so that the sight and smell of it will be hidden. Create some shelving above the litterbox to put the cat stuff and cleaning detergents and have an area to put the ladder, magic cleaner and all that... decisions, decisions decisions...<sigh>
  10. Have been thinking about my kitchen design... headache. As I'm keeping the storerm, i would like to maximize the "blocked" space. I would also like to have my steamer and oven at counter-level for easy usage that will be concealed with storage with sliding drs. Here's the legend: Dark Blue- Fridge Light Blue - WM & future dryer Purple rectangle - single bowl BIG sink red rectangle - 30cm hob If I do this, my appliance cabinet will be next to fridge.. so all the cooking will be done at one end, while the opp wall will be the washing side (layout similar to gimz & baby). WM, rubbish chute & pipes will be concealed by full length drs (either glossy white laminate or woody laminate). But I understand that L-shaped cabinets are expensive to do.. Just dunno how expensive that is. I'm also concerned about the passageway to the kitchen with the fridge on one side and the bottom cabinets on the other side. The other option is to do a parallel kitchen like this With the appliance cabinet near the sink. But that would mean I would have very little counter space. If i stack the oven on top of the steamer so as to have more counterspace, it would be hard to look at the fd cooking. So how? Any ideas, anyone?
  11. Dun have... I think they are the sole distributor for the Japanese brand. If you go to the Kallang Leisure Park shop, be forewarned that the male sales supervisor is rather 'tao' and a bit bo-chap. The Jap/Korean salesgirl is nicer but English not that gd.
  12. heh... I don't need to do operation on the countertop. No need that good.. easy to maintain can liao. Countertop is something that you cannot bring with you when you move house.. Having said that though... I was drooling over Song Cho's (the stainless steel chicken brand) kitchen system that they got from Japan. But it's hideously expensive - about $1,000+ pfr. You can only view the kitchen system at Park Mall or the Kallang Leisure Park shop. Plaza Sing don't have. http://www.songcho.com.sg/product.asp?page...&Parent_ID= Their stainless steel countertop is embossed, so you won't get scratches and the intergrated sink is totally drool-worthy. The website does not do justice to the kitchen system at all.. must really see to admire it.
  13. Yah.. the food steamer. For me, I used the steamer all the time when I was living overseas. With the steamer, don't have to watch the fire.. can go bathe or do other stuff first. My soundbar is not the blue-ray one..got the one with normal DVD playback...
  14. Yah... I don't like the grout lines, tat's why thinking of spray painting.. But after hearing your story, I think I may just tile or cement screed the kitchen floor. Strongly leaning towards cement screed for kitchen and maybe retiling the toilets.
  15. Chai Chee not bad if you live in the newer blocks. My family used to live in one of the last maisonettes that HDB built..quite a gd mix of people, and super mkt and fd court just across the rd.. But if you live in the older blocks, then yah.. got a lot more older people around
  16. Key's haven't even got yet.. So dunno when..
  17. Somethings ok.. I didn't take note of their TVs and other stuff since I was focusing mainly on the soundbar. But I don't think the other stuff were really cheap. Eg. Philips steamer was selling at $100 (from $179) but I know that the Tefal steamer sells at $99 and I think it's better coz it has a flat-based container whereas Philips didn't. I bought a Philips DVD player for $39 thinking that it's cheap. Then I went to Courts and they had those limited sale items for Samsung DVD player for $27! Get the soundbar though.. I think it's really worth it! It's abt $200 cheaper. Reading gimz/baby's T-blog made me wonder if I should've bargained at Courts for my display piece of F&P fridge and washing machine (like that did for their wm). I'm not the bargaining type..always feel very pai-seh, just ask if got discount or not... if dun have, just "orh" and keep quiet. I think must train my skin to be thicker so that can save $$
  18. Ok.. that's it.Confirmed not spray painting... will hack and retile since the price is abt the same anyway..
  19. Bought some stuff already..Thank God for interest-free installments! Fridge F&P stainless steel E440TX (display piece)$1079 (Courts) Washing Machine F&P WH70F60W2 (display piece)$719 (Courts) Philips Soundbar HTS5120 $399 (Philips Carnival Sale) Vacuum Cleaner Samsung SC4170 $79 (Isetan sale) Philips Induction Cooker (early housewarming gift from friends) Guess my wishlist of appliances will change based on price.. Bought some other stuff too at the Isetan sale like ironing board, knifes, chopping board set.. $$ does seem to disappear rather quickly doesn't it?
  20. For me as I've only gone for 1st appt and have not paid the balance amount yet, I've told my lawyer that I will not be proceeding with the sale of the flat until they give me a photcopy of the owner's IC with the change of new address. I've also asked my agent to try and get me the owner's IC with change of new address.. Didn't tell him that I won't proceed with sale if he didn't get it though.. and I've yet to pay him his commission, so I'm not too worried.
