My wife used to be in this industry although current one is also quite applicable...

True enough, both do the same coordinating works but an ID provides computerised drawings to propose designs & space saving to suit owners' liking till it's finalised. As for contractors, we give them an outline of our own perspective to work on. However, individuals vary... Some go extra mile in providing ideas to improve while some just go ahead with what you provide. etc Anyone can also argue the above on my personal opinion. The line separating both can be thin or thick, up to individual... End of the day, we, as house owners, choose to pay more or less, based on our own judgement and comfortability. Just my personal view.

Hi maxsim, May I ask why choose ID instead of contractor? In most cases, contractors will quote much lesser than IDs'. For my case, the quote from my contractor is quite reasonable for a complete overhaul & he offers advise & sketched plans like what most IDs do. He also does time coordination for me on when to ask the aircon pple to run the trunking, etc. Til date, everything is quite smooth for my side. Only difference is he does not provide 3D computer drawing which makes the owner feel very fascinated about it prior to renovation. Otherwise, he is just like an ID to me. Jus my 2c for your consideration

Hahaha... I din Yea, I'm feeling very excited on the transformation now. Really hope everything will turn out well man!!!

Sometimes we must really stand firm and not give in to them... Just that current situation is pointing towards his favour as you have already signed the paper. Like I say, I'll do the minimum if I'm in your shoes. Just treat this minimum damage as learning lession. Bo bian liao. Now can only wish he will do a good job for you with the works assigned under his charge. At least no aftermath clearing sh*t job for you to polish up.

Day 5 & 6 Sand & cement has arrived. Met up Jason again yesterday and finally signed with him. Gave us a good price, whose quote was the lowest among the few we sourced out. Workmanship was told to be good, as my colleague had used him previously. Will give my reviews once all is done in due course. Next, we went over to LUSH @ Paya Lebar & their BENZ SC 3-seater immediately caught our attention. It's using full leather, and the soft feel is really good. Only trade off is we got to do monthly maintenance to leatherise it. Can't resist & finally settled for it, together with their Odyssey Chair. Very satisfied with our buy so far. Hopefully, delivery on site will have no hiccups. Wife will also be ordering the following items through her own contacts at discounted price Kitchen sink: Reginox range Kitchen/toilet mixer & shower column: Hansgrohe range Toilet WCs & Basins: Johnson Suisse range (Como, Monte Carlo, ....)

Day 4 Today, debris & broken wood almost all cleared up. Tiles also arrived. Coming week should be able to see my floor being Met up Jason this morning. Back of his van full of fabric to choose from and he gave me his quote for installation of blinds for whole house. Overall $200+ below what MGL quoted us, based on equivalent cost of fabric @ $7.50 psf. Most likely will go for Jason cos' he was very friendly and provided me with very valuable advise on blinds & ideas on strategic installation.

Hi Wendykoh, I seriously feel that this ID is carroting you. 6k for windows is ridiculous, unless you have 40-50 panes of windows!!! My contractor only quoted me 2k+ for my 20 panes of sliding windows. For re-tiling works (excluding bedroom somemore!!!), toilet fittings & kitchen carpentry, costs already amount to 34k is daylight robbery if you ask me. I spent ard this amount doing a complete overhaul for my 4RM (109sqm). Personally, I recommend to do minimum for your house if there's still time to turn back. Rest can still look for a recommended contractor to do it for you. From your narration, he seems to be someone of lousy attitude & profit sky high seeker. Good luck

Yo fastfirefish, yours is @ CCK... Mine is @ Holland but our floor plan is mirror layout.
-
Hi fastfirefish, By your floor plan, I realise that your layout is exactly the same as mine. For a moment, I thought I have clicked wrongly to my own thread. haha. Anyway, good luck to your reno! Understand that you are undergoing many problems now... Really hope to see your revamped house soon!

Went down earlier & hacking works all completed, inclusive of my new Mtr Bedroom entrance. So far going smoothly as planned.
-
Wow... U really die-hard Honda supporter!!! Good luck to your reno!!!
-
Hrmmm... By then, my neighbour below my unit will be able to see my flooring if he gulps down redbull... Somemore, red bull more expensive. Bad idea CJREDDEVIL! Thanks sherwinsm Your layout is pretty cool & big floor space. Can we exchange? haha Mine will be 3.55m. I've enquired Beglas & the cost will be 2k+ liao. *thinking thinking thinking*
-
Hahaha I dont mind bro. Anyway, I think if you just want contractor to do hacking only, best to go direct tiler who provides hacking inclusive. Otherwise, my contractor should be able to do all your wish list with us having a peace of mind. Check ur PM bro

A Simple House For A Simple Couple In Old Airport Road
bluewater replied to Chinchye's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
Hi bro, I told my contractor about it and he proposed to lay a piping (with a pull thru' rod) to my TV console so that the trunking problem can be solved when my installation comes end Dec 2010. Sounds a long way hur. So, still thinking if I should. At the website, I noticed that we need to necessarily lay the cable all the way to our TV console. Just lay from our main door to nearest power socket will do. Is it true? -
Yo ossify, when you starting your reno? So far, only see renovation in progress at one unit @ lvl 2 & mine at my block around the vicinity.
-
Hi discoburg, are you driving a FIT previously or now? Cos' there's a "discoburg" @ FJC also. Anyway, nice house progress & layout you have there. Will be following your T-blog progress to see its turn out!

Ya, Rondy seems like a joker guy... Chinchye, I don't have at the moment... family planning comes maybe next year after I tide over this big project first... Wallet only can allow one thing at a time Was thinking to paste strip stickers on sliding door when comes children. What's your opinion? If not, what other ideas to construct the divider to make the house blend well? Big headache cos' I told Edmund about my dilemna... He also concurred & told me he will think what other alternatives...
-
Yea Rondy! He is indeed working very hard when I bought 100plus up. He told me my flooring is very hard :D But I told him must hack good good... Can see he was feeling the shagness cos' using 1 hand to hold the driller at times. Wahahahhaa.
