hi guys.... i've had my renov done by jason....actually kopi kor and i started abt the same time. of course mine is a small 3NG, so less things to do lah. yes, we had delays and some small small items he said he'd take care of, not exactly done. but what the heck. jason gave us other freebies so i'm very ok with everything overall. he's a very easy going guy, never try to squeeze us or deliberately go back on his word. things that he could help us with, he did, with no extra charges---like helping me fix my bed, twice! i think you can see my posts in my t-blog how frustrated i was with those delays, but in the end, he handed everything over ...about 3 weeks past the initial HO date....but i was prepared for a 1-2 weeks delay ....so my expectations were not exactly crushed. i mean, it's only realistic to buffer in delay time....like contractors are humans, they can fall sick or shipping of supplies delayed ....so many small small things that can add up, can cause a longer delay. so i think "real" HO is something that you shld forecast to 2 weeks after the HO date your give your contractor. lower blood pressure. anyway, my reviews of the work done: hacking was like that lor. hack and clear mah. lol...i dun think got "bad" hacking. lol.... tiling was very well done, very very well done, i'm still impressed after living here for abt 3 mths. painting was very well done....got 1 old uncle and one younger uncle (look like hk actor one)...no air bubbles, no paintbrush hairs .....just smooth finish. plastering was well done too... er....bi-fold doors of toilet wrong design (but i close one eye) window grills was wrong color (close the other eye) carpentry is ....well....i would have said very well done if i posted this 3-4 days ago. but i've noticed some leakage in the kitchen cabinet....so i will see if he can rectify for me this nonsense. if not, i like everything ---laminates on wardrobe/kitchen cabinets all applied sui sui (those gloss ones, where if you don't make it smooth, it's very obvious) i was around for most of the day and night when the carpenters were working (cos rushing laio, like 2-3 days b4 HO) ...and even tho it was night, if the laminate was not nice, they will remove and adjust or even retrim a new piece to fit. very impressed with their professionalism. solid top and stainless steel backing all nicely done up also. plumber also very nice guy, made the exposed pipes in the toilets as "concealed" as possible...and he's the guy who drilled and fixed all the toilets stuff (towel bars, mirror etc) very patient when hubby and i were trying out this height or that or put left or right. electrician (ah tan) also very nice guy.....helped me to do up the wiring as nicely as possible (old flat, exposed wiring lah)...helped me with lightings, 2-way switches all that. so i dun think jason is unreliable lah. i think he just needs more time and then he will get the job done. cos i feel that his workers are all giving quality work. you don't want them to rush and do a slipshod job mah. of course, cannot stretch on forever lah. maybe things can get faster if you call your guy (carpenter/electrician/tiler/painter/plasterer etc ) directly??? after a while, that was what i did. i have electrician (ah tan's) and carpenter (ah zai's) number, pls pm me if you need-----but no use if they are not the ones in charge of your unit. cos i dunno how many teams of pple there are (or were) under jason. i still dunno what happened btw jason and florence. quite sad to see things are like that.

hello guys... i've moved in!!! finally. imagine, morning , jason's guys doing touch-up/painting/cleaning afternoon, movers moving all my stuff. very hectic new year. photos to come. thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement.

time now : 4.15pm. STILL no solid top catalog to see. am super exasperated. ossify: beam is less than 30cm only gas and water pipe went thru. (i don't recall electrical wiring going thru) kopi: thanks ah.. bug him yeah? mac: thanks. actually, acid wash is very easy......the "acid" is just concentrated HCl....fuming in other words. i use this in the lab. so can say i'm used to dealing with it. won't advise anyone to go touch the stuff or to smell the stuff.....it's fumes are toxic and it has fumes cos it's very concentrated. don't do this at home ah! ------------ sigh....

am feeling very down today. firstly, dear Jason has not been able to keep to any of the 5 (five!!!!) HO dates he has indicated viz 5th, 15th, 18th, 23rd, 28th Dec. This has resulted in hubby being very upset. And after the 30th Dec, hubby would have no time to move. This means that we MUST move in by 30th or else it will be July 2010. JULY leh!!! Am bunking in my aunt's place. Sleeping in the hall now since my cousins came back from overseas. Told Jason liao, 25th they are reaching Sg, so I need to move out then. Ok, fine, sleep in the hall is better than not having a roof. But it's quite paiseh to spend a whole week in the hall right? Then hubby also no time. His boss is flying in on 31st. Means 7am to 11pm (or later even) he's gonna be gone. No choice. Will be like this for the whole month of Jan cos boss is here 1 mth. Some stuff can only do when boss is ard, so cannot take leave or turn up late for the whole time. Then Feb he's flying off. Gonna go for 4-5months. Hence, it's this week or next July. Fan bu fan ah? Initially we had buffer zones, cos naturally construction work will never complete on time ones lah. But now, I am out of buffer zone and am in such a tight fix for time. Guess what. On sat, I was supposed to choose solid top color (I have been bugging Jason to pass me the catalog to choose since 2 weeks ago). But nice carpenter da ger bring granite. Then I asked why, cos I was quoted for solid top, not granite. He said Jason say. Fine, I just choose granite, expecting I'd prob need to top up some $. Then today Jason call me, say must choose solid top, granite not in my quote. Ok, choose today (which is HO date #5) then by when will it be ready?? FYI, I've not chosen cos no one has brought the solid top catalog to me and it's nearly 1.50pm laio. No one is at my place. It is sitting empty. Got painting to do, got acid-wash to do, got touch-ups, got electrical works, got some carpentry.....but no one is around. On Sat, I bueh tahan, i started doing the acid wash myself. Cleaning up the skirting which has paint and plaster. Just hoping that what little I can do, can speed up the whole process by a bit. (Cos the guy doing acid wash is VERY VERY slow, he took 1 day to clean MBR skirting n floor which has the least amt of paint splatters). Anyone meeting Jason today? I'm nearly in tears liao.

FIVE ceiling fans...??? are you sure you are staying in a 3rm flat?

are you considering a system 1 (only MBR) or 2 (2 bedrooms) or 3 (2 bedrooms + hall)? if system 1, then can do later. not much trunking, not much drilling. if 2 or 3, then they need to drill holes thru walls to lay out piping, then cover with trunking and patching up holes ....so will tend to become a hassle to clean up the dust later. if you have movable furniture, also must cover up properly and move out of the way so they can drill the walls. dust from drilling is quite powerful, can "penetrate" coverings!

any quotes from the plumber about changing the cast iron pipe in the common toilet? i've asked my contractor, and he says no need to change, it will be changed by HDB when they (eventually) do upgrading works on old (30yr+) flats. if i get him to change, it will be like $900. as for the illegal kitchen piping....before you got the keys, there should have been an inspection by HDB right, all the illegal works should have been rectified before the keys can be handed over.

yeah....only after poking him, then i see pple come to my place to do things... else, only hear crickets and see cobwebs... Merry Christmas everyone!

a list of never ending stuff it seems is still to be done... but hor, all the older uncles that i meet are all super duper friendly xiah!!!! even with my super duper lan chinese, they smile lots n chat chat.....must be laughing at me in hokkien also!!! the electrician (ah tan) is very very nice one...and funny too...always tekkan the 2 m'sia boys doing the boxing up (cornices boys) then the old painting uncle (61 yrs!!!) looks just how i picture my grandpa to look like!! he very jaga me....very sweet... believe it or not, the plumber, an efficient and competent guy -arul --an indian is married to a chinese gal with my same name!! just the surname is different by one letter!! hers is Toh, mine is Goh, but our first names are both Beatrice!!!! and yes, my lao gong is indian too, but his name is much longer than arul's. so qiao! we all had a good laugh when we found out. anyway, end of last week i started calling jason daily....like thurs, fri AND sat!! usually, i'll call him only 1 a week....but calling him often works!!!! this week things got moving...so now you know...... main gate up window grills (Wrong color ) up covering for gas/water pipes done covering of "windows" in door frames done installation of main door and 2 bedroom doors (courtesy of kopi's old doors) done by Mr J Goh himself electric points (mostly done) aircon piping/trunking done <---by hong tar LEFT (those that i can think of offhand): kitchen cabinet MBR wardrobe re-furbishing the doors painting touching up cleaning/acid wash furniture assembly + odds and ends fan installation <---by hylight tech one more area to box-up completion of electrical stuff paying $$ (i dread to see the bill) any items i should note/look out for before HO? esp during the touching up period?[\b]

when's your handover? am so tired the last couple of days....been running up and down to check on the subcons ...(no internet to reply mails/renotalk) i poked my contractor a bit, and this week, things finally started moving... altho, din move as what he promised lah...but i also realise sometimes cannot be helped ones... as long as things get done well, ok lah....chin chye.. is your plastering all done up? it does take quite a few days to plaster, even for a small flat like ours. ceilings are quite tiring, so that would take 2 days...then the walls will be much faster. by this week you should see some nice smooth walls... make sure after plastering, your ID applies a sealant..... after my plastering, some oil (according to contractor) seeped thru the plaster and left splotches of yellow.... must seal to prevent cement "oil" or moisture from seeping thru. catch up again

no space for shower screen ah.... in any configurations that i've tried...even to the extent of rotating the toilet bowl.....still die die cannot squeeze in a shower screen. we find the basin ok. does it look for big ah? seems like still got enough space to shower....didn't feel squeezy with the basin while standing in the showering area.

the shower/heater is opposite the mirror/basin...can see the reflection in the mirror of the common room. basin is 21" length....squeeze into the corner...seems ok leh... got protrude out from the wall a bit...but ....still looks ok to me

no he is not!!! even the carpenter who is working under jason, tell me dun listen to jason when jason give me a date. he push my HO date back 3 times liao...and looks like must push at least another time... sigh. but still, jason is a very very nice guy, very easy going and i understand why he keeps pushing my HO...cos a lot of projects and he's ultra busy. why he concentrate on kopi's place only?!?!! *jealous*
