  1. pic pic pics!!! with flash can liao....no need pro standard ones....
  2. wow... love to see the before and during and after pics! fab home there..the place is really transformed now... i think the kitchen wall tiles rock....really unique.
  3. curious ah, how old is his son? half the time i'm picturing a young primary school boy, the other half, a guy in his 20s, all shenton-way-style...
  4. soon he'll be busy with our little place too! he was really busy last night when i met him, he just came from dover (got 7 clients there!!!!). then going siglap for a 9pm appt... i think he was a bit late for the siglap appt....pai seh n apologies to the siglap peeps, we were chatting and time just flew by... even my hubby (indian) can't speak chinese, jason sstill can chat so long with us!! hahaha
  5. yeah, confirm from #1 - #9 lol... it's actually #6 lah
  6. i figured he's really up to his ears in work lah....his sms replies to me very chop chop ones. even tho reviews from simon the super are really good, which makes me really 'gian' to get a quote from him...but no yuen fen this time round hahah.... busy also good lah, more business mah.
  7. yups, all the #1-#9 all busy lah. good busniness for them also. last night just went for inspection....this friday collecting keys. WHEEE.....!!!! brought along our contractor (yes, decided liao) and he look look see see...then sign contract. can say it's major ---hack walls, whole house flooring changed, 2 toilets, 1 kitchen, 1 shoe rack, 1 wardrobe, 1 glass partition... $20 000!!!! but also we tried to save on some areas, like instead of tiling the kitchen, just plaster over the current tiles.... instead of having the contractor paint for us, we'll DIY *cross fingers, probably end up looking like snowman with more paint on ourselves*
  8. your house is so spacious!!! woot! shiok man... any plans for pool rooms, media room, entertainment rooms?
  9. thanks simon the super, mysweet and momo this little nook is at clementi west st 1, just behind the newly revamped ginza plaza. i took so long to ......during working hours!! *gasp* better get back to work.
  10. i think many thanks are in order...to all the bloggers who shared your home renov process....to all the jiejies n gorgors that wrote reviews on so many IDs/contractors/things to note etc etc...really appreciate the effort and time the jies/gors put in. that made this such a great resource for renov noobs like myself. i also wanna thank ptbgal also. she has kindly passed me her old copies of interior design mags. in this way, we're being in a small way environmentally friendly by recycling those mags. and saving quite some $ for me....heehee....and yes, i'll pass them on to whoever who wants when i'm done, including a few more i bought also. not for fussy peeps who want pristine pages ah....!!! expect folded pages etc. also thanks to those i've obtained contacts from.... in the end, i called up 8-9 IDs/contractors....their names would be so familiar. haha...like they are the "must call" peeps when ya look them up in renotalk....anyway, my encounters with them are documented below 1) henry from ID note 2) henry from impress21 3) mr yeak 4) max 5) andy 6) jason from u and b 7) jasper from viewstar 8) ****** from yellowboots 9) patrick from ho bee 10) naaman loh since our budget is very very tight, i've to keep our renov simple (hence my blog title, to remind to not to go overboard!!) so after approaching these guys for a quote.....#9 's wife told me cannot complete our renov in 1 mth via email. to which i replied, no problem, how long would it take and please give me a quote anyway, but no response from the mrs . #10 smsed me his email and i emailed him my renov wish list. after that, no noise. so obviously #9 and 10 are out. while i tried to get in touch with #1, he said he would call me asap. but no news also. guess these guys are really busy! but ok lah. busy then don't take up new projects shows they are committed to delivering quality lah. #4 and #5 not much reviews from them. but must say their quotes are pretty competitive. however, hubby decided that since reviews are pretty skimpy, better stick to the "safe" ones. #8 is very nice to talk to. but after receiving her quote, i tried to contact her to meet up, but no sound from her. hope she's ok. probably just busy also lah. #7 was quite dodgy. the quote fit into our budget so nicely, but didn't quote for solid top and electrical works. then i asked for those to be added, still he didn't add electrical works. in any case, the item by item listing of the quote was very skimpy and i felt it was quite dodgy lah. #2 was good, punctual and gave quote/meet ups within reasonable time frames. just that we don't have chemistry with him lah. the great contest was between #3 and #6. both are so approachable and easy-going, can get what we're trying to describe. quotes also really reasonable. tough choice.....
  11. hey, it works. hehehe....
  12. ...testing....testing... ahem. and lo, behold. (assume the link posting works) the tiny-toony abode that will soon be transformed into a pretty nice place, fingers crossed.
  13. got a quote from them.....surprisingly, the quote turned out to be less than contractors. but then i saw they omitted a few items lah, lucky this forum is so educational.... anyway, the obvious items left out were a 22ft solid top and electrical works. even then, add another 3kish, still very competitive pricing. no one used them before?? no feedback? *knocking on doors*
  14. any one? they are having an offer ...so might be worth checking out if other users have had ok/good experiences with them??
  15. different hotels and restaurants different pricing lah. also got weekday and weekend and HOT date pricing...different menu also different pricing. rule of thumb, 5 star hotels about 1k per table restaurants : $500 per table. most seat 10 per table, some seat 12, so calculate per pax to compare bah. some give free flow beer, cartons of wine etc, some don't, so include alcohol in your calculations too.
  16. eh....i emailed jason abt 10 days ago..... still waiting................................................ maybe mine is not so kan cheong for him cos i'll only get keys in oct-nov??
  17. mmm....i've emailed jason. waiting for his email quote.....1 week liao!!!! very kan cheong...hehhe.....
  18. another WC question...is it possible to rotate the WC? ie use the same plumbing/hole/etc, but turn the WC such that it's 90 deg from its current position? silly question ? hdb....so likely not possible?
  19. hoho, am a dyson fan. bought a 22 some months back, promotion so got the hardfloor head, got the mattress head free too. i find the design of dyson really well though out. like the large easy to reach on-off switch, the handles on the motor and the tubing, the way to dispose the collected dust (no bags!! and no need to touch any dust!), the way the tube coils around the motor so it packs into a neat little package, easy to take out and easy to keep, the heads also attach to the motor, so not too mah fan to go change heads while going thru the house. but i dun like the price lah. piangs. vacuum cleaner only at least it's one of the more energy efficient vacuums around the market nowadays. so in the end, i felt it was worth. and using it the past few months, no regrets.
  20. wah....100+ views and no one got old mags to get rid off?
  21. hi everyone, anyone keen on selling or giving away your used home decor mags? i'd like to get hold of some and don't mind if they are past issues. don't need to be pristine condition also, cos i'm sure pages will be folded etc. hopefully, not torn and falling to pieces either. you'd get to clear out some barang barang and be eco-friendly in recycling those mags too! cheers
  22. hihi, i find it so difficult to find other 3rmmers!! like everyone with a t-blog has a big big house...!!! looking forwards to your renov...when ya finally decide on your contractor. wishing you shun shun li li renov!
