  1. so far i only been to the one at Ubi a couple of times. Also visited the one along Yio Chu Kang Rd. Bought my day-bed from there back in 2005 after searching around everywhere. Most of the daybeds were selling for $800 and above at Barang Barang, The Helping Hand and at a few other teak shops. Recently, we visited a teak shop at Macpherson opp Potong Pasir, The Helping Hand and another one at Geylang near Sims Drive. The prices of their furnitures are not cheap.
  2. they're in a desperate situation cos of the releasing of funds back into CPF for their next purchase. Do you think u can help them out by letting them stay on for another month? They might not have the $ to pay u rental. U might wanna work it out with them by maybe getting them to pay the utility bill and the conservancy charges for that month. Just a suggestion to resolve the matter as there are instances whereby the whole sales got screwed up and both parties lost out. Or in some instances, sellers damage some of the items in the house just to get back at the buyers.
  3. Hi, sorry to kpo on this. Doc also said i'm allergy to my own sweat and there's no cure. I realised that my condition gets better if i jog more often but being lazy, that's out of the question. I tried to 'cure' myself by applying medicated oil on my body especially on my legs, thighs, arms and tummy area and its much better. Recently, I applied yoyo and it also works. u gals might wanna try it
  4. 707 is an old brand but very reliable. Price is also more ex than most of the instant heaters in the market. My parents 707 lasted close to 20yrs before it decided to 'retire'. My buyer is still using our 707 which is coming to 11 years. Our current place using Alpha and heard its quite popular these recent months due to the wide variety of colours.
  5. huh.....no la, wihardja's prices are cheaper than Barang Barang or other Teak furniture shops we visited but of course the quality not very good.
  6. try to go for a win win situation. Find out why the sellers need to stay on for another month first as ultimately u would want to take over the place happily
  7. ya it should be the HDB officer chasing after the illegal works to be restored back. Y as buyer u need to do it? Just few years ago, inspection was carried out after 1st appointment and 2nd appointment would be delayed if seller did not fix back what they're supposed to do. I was in this situation back in 2005. HDB hold on to the 2nd appointment date till I made arrangement to change the windows rivets for my casement windows as i was the seller. They 'issued' the 2nd appointment date only after I submitted the invoice to prove that the works had been carried out. its quite tricky for your case as the seller might not want to get the works done if the 2nd appointment date is already out and was there any notice from the HDB officer about the illegal work? Did u or the seller by any chance draft up any agreement to state that u'll be held responsible if the seller did not restore back the illegal works? Think time is very critical here so would strongly urge u to contact the HDB officer to clarify this matter.
  8. do remember to get the indemnity form and the necessary documents for sellers to endorse as u're starting your reno before 2nd appointment....its to cover both parties. as for Zen furniture, u can also try picket and rail as their furniture are also in dark/walnut colour which is the theme for Zen. For cheaper furniture, u can try wihardja
  9. hahaha, thanks for reminding me about the upcoming PC show but still saving up and cant afford it and would have to wait for a few more pc shows b4 we can afford it. Plus most importantly, the grand old man aka our 29" TV still going strong and we actually hope and praying hard that it'll last us for a few more years.
  10. since its for guestroom, u might wanna try hdb furniture shops....less than $100 also have.
  11. u can get from those neighbourhood electrical shops like Goh Ah Bee in Hougang. I bought 1st set from Goh Ah Bee. This is my 2nd set which I bought from Kleen at Jln Besar opposite the Stadium.
  12. could it be the weather or the location of yr flat? Is it seated on West sector?
  13. yalor, scary when I found the first one at home. Luckily read up on it and feels much better after confirming that it has no direct effect on our health
  14. u can view the silverfish images here silverfish inhabit dark areas such as kitchen cupboards of houses. Also, they inhabit dry papery areas such as old books and newspaper stacks. Silverfish will commonly graze in and around showers, baths, and sinks on the cellulose present in many shampoos, shaving foams and so on. Apart from these cases, the damage caused by silverfish is negligible and they have no direct effect on human health beyond psychological distress to those who are frightened or disgusted by their appearance, or to those whose books have been destroyed by the creatures. Other substances that may be eaten include cotton, linen, silk and synthetic fibers, and dead insects or even its own exuvia (moulted exoskeleton). During famine, a silverfish may even attack leatherware and synthetic fabrics. In extreme cases, silverfish may live for one year without eating.[2] Silverfish can be found anywhere in homes including, but not limited to, garages, closets, underneath beds, couches, and in electrical appliances where food can be found, such as computer keyboards. They generally prefer dark areas. the young ones are white in colour.
  15. ic. Sorry to hear that. Maybe u can get your wife's auntie to speak to your contractor.
  16. u can try charcoal as we tried it for the room when my boz room got a funny smell the other time. As for wardrobes, we opened the doors to ventilate and so far ok. I also bought the refresher from NTUC to put inside the wardrobe to get rid of the woody smell. Moth ball is also a big NO NO for us as me and the boz are G6PD. silver fish? We had that when we were staying in EM. Really freak out when we saw them but its usually the occasional one appears and the next moment we'll send them to heaven if u know what I mean. We tried to keep the area dry but I was thinking if its the quality of the wood that was used to built our WIW and MBR platform cos the silver fish only occurred in our MBR. Or is it because MBR has the attached bathroom? We never managed to find out the reason and we've seen moved out. So far, no more silver fishes over at our new place.
  17. ic. If u want to share, u can email to me and I help u to 'up' your t-blog posting. Heee... ur girl would be going to P1 in few years time right? Nowadays, MOE 'expose' the kids to computer at very young age. Some schools even get teachers to set worksheets online and the kids are supposed to complete it online. My boz had to do research from the Internet every now and then. Got no choice but to be more tech-savvy than my kids. i agree. We were got no time for ourselves. My free time is only when the kids are off to bed.
  18. hahaha, i think its everyone's dream house. Me and hubby fulfilled our dreams for 3.5yrs. Housework really no joke especially the amount of dust that I had to clean almost everyday. Think its because the unit was along the main road and we had walnut coloured furniture. u'll definitely enjoy the breeze and happy climbing the stairs. Good form of exercises too. We had many plants back then but had to give away when we shifted to current place. he's open to anything eg sales, delivery, etc.
  19. no problem. We're all here to learn from one another. No updates to my t-blog liao. I've been pretty busy recently and hubby still looking for a perm job.
