  1. u hacking everything? oh, think i c wrongly.....if 24 days then looks impossible. Do u think u can KIV some of the things first? i.e do the necessary first
  2. yes, it can be done especially if your contractor has enough resources. Previously, when our EM had a major overhaul, our timeline was 5 weeks. U might also need to be prepared that certain things might not be ready when u're due to move in. This time round when we renovated our 5-i, we didnt do any major overhaul but still the timeline of less than 2 weeks was too pack. We moved in w/o the kitchen cabinets and granite top.
  3. i think gaku updated the days on his 1st post on 1st page 'Day 40: 12th June : HO day again.'
  4. hahaha....depends on how huge u want yr TV to be. LCD is better than plasma in terms of consuming of electricity right? But I read somewhere in this forum quite recently that plasma is better and uses lesser electricity....really confusing. I only know those who are movie fantastics and those who like to see good effects would opt for plasma as the picture quality is better. Correct me if I'm wrong. for fridge, go for at least those with 3 ticks. Think only F & P have fridge that's having 4 ticks. Size also depends on how u gonna use it. Do u intend to do lots of cooking, do u need to store your weekly marketing or ur fridge is mainly to put all your can drinks? for washer, have u decided on top or front load? For front load, i think Thomson and Electrolux is pretty popular.
  5. so would the officer need to check the railings again after u done yr reno since u agreed to take over the installation now? ya, must hope that the reno is without any hiccups otherwise really mess up everything since u would also need to have specific date to move in after vacating your current flat. Good luck!
  6. Thats fast! which brand did u get for your hob and hood? Hahaha, me also very fast one...i'll research on the things i wanna get from internet and zoom in to the shop to get it. Even for selection of tiles, I think me and hubby is the fastest. We had the colour of the tiles in mind, go in, shortlist a few then zoom in on the one we want and try not to confuse ourselves or change our minds by looking at other tiles. We were out of the tile shop in less than 20mins as time is very precious for us. have u decided on the size and brand for your TV, fridge, washer?
  7. how's everything? Urs also 5I corner? I'll also opt for 1 as looks neat and makes the place bigger. Black also nice but its glass right so might be difficult to maintain.
  8. so irresponsible of the hdb officer to put the blame on 'too many cases and overlooked your case'. What u mean by 'tearing everything down'? If its a requirement according to hdb then u'll have to install it for their dunno when inspection since its a requirement to have the railings at the balcony.
  9. How to cut cost if there's a need to re-do kitchen and 2 toilets. some cut cost by overlaying. some cut cost by only doing floor tiles and opt out of wall tiles for kitchen and toilets...just cement smooth both have their pros and cons.
  10. ya, get from the dealers like Goh Ah Bee slightly cheaper.
  11. staying in Hougang right? Ya, u can try to check out the prices with Goh Ah Bee. I'm using Rinnai for the past few years and love it very much though its very ex. The hob alone can buy other brands of hob, hood and even oven. Which brand to choose? U can try visit Citygas showroom to 'browse' thru the hobs and hoods on display and see which one u prefer. I opted for Rinnai as its easy to maintain and the inner burner flame technology helps save on gas as well as make cooking faster.
  12. if u intend to stay close to 10years then u might want to consider doing floor tiles as opposed to laminated flooring as u really need to take good care of the floors if its done up in laminated flooring. Some IDs/contractors advised owners not to lay laminated floorings for whole house as it'll have the pop pop feel when u walk on it that's y most either do it for the bedrooms or living room. There are many brands of laminated floorings in the market, some are cheap and some are expensive. I opted for AC 5 (manned for industrial due to the heavy traffic) from Kronotex for my 3 bedrooms at old house. Love the feel of laminated floorings but must really take good care of it. Had viewed a unit done up with laminated flooring for less than 3 years. The owners did not take good care of it and it was such a turnoff as already got big gaps and some of the top part of the laminated flooing was already worn off. I think your vinyl tiles could just overlay with laminated floorings but contractor might want u to hack and do up cement screed first if the flooring is not even. Best is to call up the laminated flooring of your choice to give u an onsite quote.
  13. yup, that's the only letter before the 1st appointment. There's contact details in that letter. Do keep us posted on the latest so that everyone here can learn about it especially those who may happen to be in the same situation as u.
  14. same here. We also got my bank loan from Standchart and their service is excellent. The banker updated us at every stage either via phone call or sms and we really appreciated it as we were clueless on the bank loan since its our 1st time. She also advised us on the amount of loan that we need to get as we really didnt want to be tied down with a huge amount of bank loan. In fact, we had approached other banks but they didnt even bother to get back to us and wasnt helpful even when we were down at the branch to seek their advice. Talk about local bank, the banker took down my contact number and asked me to fax the necessary to her the next day. She never once called me to check why I had yet to fax to her. I felt very turnoff when I spoke to her as she wasnt very forthcoming in answering my questions. Merely hurried me to fax the documents to her before she reveal about the procedures or the interest. That's the reason why I also cant be bothered to fax to her.
  15. Hi Hougang neighbour, we're at @Ave 8 too, Blk 4++ near Hougang Mall.
  16. remember the letter of inspection whereby HDB indicated that someone would be turning up at the unit to inspect for illegal works? U should have a copy of the letter and u can call up the undersigned. Nevertheless, u can also call up the officer handling your resale. Login to MyHDB from HDB website using your SINGPASS, go to resale flat status and u'll see the officer's name and contact number there. U can email to the officer with your contact number and he/she would response fast. I tried that and the officer called me the next morning as there's some issues with the loan matter.
  17. ya, cant be $8k. Just a few hundreds for the shifting of water and electrical meter. Did u shift out the SCV cable box?
  18. yup, u can get from from watson, guardian or unity. Oops, i think it should be yoko yoko. My friend tried tiger balm (the tube form) manned for muscle ache and it also works on her
  19. ya, i applied them before I start my jogging and no more itch and scratching. I also dont bleed but had to do plenty of scratching till it looks pretty scary....as though I got involved in a cat fight with another woman. i also have the occasional eczema and i think i passed down to my 2nd son. Hahaha, no la, from your blog pic I think u very skinny and had inherited from your mummy. Wow ur condition **** serious but good la, can b flower vase and tai tai next time. yoyo is for muscle ache.
  20. hmmm.. is HDB aware of this arrangement ie inventory list drafted by both parties? u'll have to get the agents to chase after the seller. I'm just thinking what if the seller don't restore back the work? HDB still let the sales go thru completion? cos previously HDB would must check to confirm that the works are restored before 2nd appointment.
  21. tv connection in common room? Is there a point now? can still arrange to get the point fixed thru Starhub. They would get their appointment external contractor to turn up during the scheduled appointment
  22. small to me. I've not been to the one at sungei kadut but i think the one at ubi is considered quite big.
  23. errrr.... i think Goh Ah Bee gave a 6 or 7% discount...not too sure about it. U can call up to check their prices, just tell them the make and model. I think discount for the promo package is more attractive than just getting the hood or hob alone. btw, which make or model are u getting?
