Defong Renovation Id

Hi, I engaged Jeremy (Defong) for my 5-room HDB and moved in since Aug 09. It was an overhaul of the entire place cos the previous owner didn't maintain it well. After we had moved in, there were some wear and tear issues e.g. minor servicing stuff, which were not Jeremy's fault in the first place and which I am not knowledgeable of....BUT Jeremy had always gone the extra mile to help us and promptly came to our place to resolve them, and this is almost ONE year after we had moved in. Most other contractors will just bochap u after collecting money, but not Jeremy, who always pick up my call and comes here with a smile! Because of his excellent service and attitude, I would strongly recommend him to anyone looking to do their renovations. THUMBS UP! Cheers, Bensen -

mine was tearing down the entire place...hack and tiling all floors and 2 toilets, false ceilings, carpentry (shoerack, kitchen cabinets, vanity top for master toilet) and many other small items...the quote came to abt 29.5k. Lots of other IDs were quoting 40-45k on average for what I wanted. I forgot how much per foot run, think its better you ask Jeremy directly. -

Hi everyone, I completed my renovation works for my 5-room HDB in Woodlands sometime in Aug this year. Jeremy has provided top-notch service throughout the renovation process. Despite several hiccups along the way, he has never said no to my requests even some of them were last-minute ones. In fact, I would say that some of the errors came from his workers so it wasn’t entirely his mistake but nonetheless they were rectified without arguments. One major plus point to highlight is his carpentry works, we are really pleased with the quality and overall design of our shoe rack, feature wall, kitchen cabinets and master toilet vanity top. I recall someone posting some comments complimenting his carpentry works...personally I agree that Jeremy’s carpenters are his company’s distinct selling point. Quotation-wise, I can say that his was the most competitive after approaching close to 15 different reno companies. He has also absorbed some of the minor costs and I was grateful for that, cos my reno costs totalled abt 30k, furnishings another 15k….so every penny counts! LOL 1 week ago, there some issues with the mirror and toilet tap. I called Jeremy and he arranged for his workers to replace it and it was completed yesterday, at no extra costs. This happened after I had paid him in full which was 3 weeks ago. So in terms of after-sales service, he still responded even after collecting $$$…some contractors I heard, don’t even bother or take a long time to respond after collecting the final payment, so I would really give Jeremy the thumbs up in terms of service. So whoever is looking out for IDs, do consider Jeremy for his 1) excellent service 2) carpentry works 3) quotation (this of course depends on what you are doing) -

Hi rock, I engaged Defong which is actually a 1-man show by Jeremy :-) Mine is a 5-room HDB and I literally tore down the whole place! LOL Basically, major items in my quote: - Hacking and tiling of living,dining,kitchen,2 toilets - Laying of laminates for bedrooms - Carpentry are kitchen cabinet, false wall at foyer, vanity top - false ceilings at foyer, dining, bedroom corridor and 1 L-Box **** - plastering and painting of all walls and other ceiling areas w/o false ceilings - replaced all bedroom, toilet and kitchen doors, plus install shower screen at MBR - replaced window grilles for entire unit - and minor items such as acid wash, applying for permit etc. All in all, Defong quoted 29.5k. In my opinion, it was one of the most reasonable quotes among the 15+ ID companies which I requested for a quote. Note i didn't do any wardrobe cos I wanted a 13ft WIW which I got Seng Kwong to do cos they had a promotion. Oh...to add on to my last post, I agree with big orange that Jeremy is very nice to work with and service-wise, he's top notch, no arguments with that. Anyway, no ID or contractor can guarantee an error-free renovation, sure got problems now and then. I had to check every nite after work to spot any mistake and ask Jeremy to rectify it. So far, he's been very accomodating. -
I decided to go for Seng Kwong cos both quotes for 13 ft WIW with aluminium sliding doors are approx 3k. ClosetRobe was slightly cheaper and they gave a FOC mirror...not going into the rest of the details else I gotta write grandfather story...LOL But the key difference lies in the material of the wood used. Seng Kwong used solid plywood with walnut laminates whereas ClosetRobe used compressed wood with those normal white PVC. I then asked ClosetRobe for a revised quote based on solid ply and it was much higher than 3k. Furthermore, I wanted walnut colour and ClosetRobe said they charged more for laminates so end up the price was alot higher than the original! Wah...I immed made up my mind to take Seng Kwong. LOL So I guess the most impt thing is to check the material used and what exactly you want. I guess some ppl dun mind using compressed wood so might as well get the cheaper one. Btw, both come with 10 yr warranties agst workmanship e.g. delamination, warping...

Hey folks, its been abt 3 weeks since my last post, thought of giving everyone some updates on my reno since it started on 8 June. Jeremy's company is called Defong Trading, cheque is also made payable to Defong Trading, so I guess Defong Interior Design is just a name used for his business activity which is primarily interior design. So far, here's some of the plus points and minus points in my few cents worth to share with everyone: 1) Pricing - One of the best and most reasonable prices for ID companies I've requested from 15+ ID companies before I settled on Defong 2) Service - Very accomodating whenever we make last minute changes. - Compared with our previous ID guy who doesnt bother to rectify minor faults and instead offer discounts to accept the fault, Jeremy rectified minor faults without fuss. - Prompt in attending to my calls during daytime and weekends (he answer calls on Sundays too but I sms him before calling cos it was urgent). Doesn't answer calls if its too late at night. - Mild-mannered guy, no temper, even though sometimes I feel I had gone overboard with my last minute requests but he was still very nice..haha 3) Workmanship - Just completed the tiling. So far we're happy with the homogeneous tiles on our living, dining, balcony, kitchen and toilet. But only after the wash then we can tell in exact if there are any faults...I'll post another comment in abt 1-2 weeks time - Carpentry for kitchen cabinet, foyer, vanity top is still in progress. Minus points: - Electrical: the overall wiring was done by a sub-contractor and had several faults. 1) we bought a storage heater and instructed Jeremy to put the heater point in our MBR, but it was placed outside the common toilet instead. 2) We wanted to install a dimmer in our living room, the electrician totally forgot about it until our lighting man told us! ****...dunno how to resolve this - Piping: the pipes running from the yard to common toilet to master toilet was a bit wierd. Some of the pipes could have run from a different direction that could have concealed it better. This issue I have yet to raise. I'm going out now...will post more comments later on... -
I'm doing a walk-in wardrobe with aluminium sliding doors, so I got quotes from these 2 companies. Has anyone used them before? Can share your experiences / workmanship?

I've combed quite a few shops in balestier and went to DK lights today, their prices for the rectangular glass types are cheaper than those in balestier. The guy recommended taking the PLC 'mid-sized' square ones for $22 each, anyone know if this is a good price? He said something about 'astro' brand so its supposed to be good but I've no idea about it.

I been to 2 of his completed projects, not bad...my wife was impressed with his workmanship. We got our keys today and decided to hire him His quote is reasonable and he was very responsive to our questions and answered calls promptly. Only exception were a few occasions when he didn't answer was when I called him after 10pm...hehehe...of course, he returned the calls the next morning and I don't expect him to answer it so late at night anyways... Now the toughest part - $$$ Hope to reduce it even further...i'm pretty tight on budget... -
I just got my keys for my hdb flat today! Yippee!! Have been thinking abt getting a crystal chandelier so appreciate any advice/suggestions on where to get one. I like those clear crystals with 5 'candles' and I'm confused whats the diff b/w egyptian and swarovski crystals. Are crystals graded in the 1st place? Heard there's fake ones which sell for less than $500..not sure if this is true or not.
