  2. wah skyblue, u are the best lah!....superb pictures with illustration...hehe....i wanted to do flap-up door initially but then now changed to flap-down due aesthetic and practical considerations....and i totally get what you are trying to say.... really thanks a lot!.... but hor...kakaka...actually i asking abt the depth of the console , ie , from wall to the front edge of the console...but its ok...i decided to do a 500mm one...ie from wall to front edge of console is 500 mm...cos one of my player is an AV receiver...quite big with many plugs behind....so decided to extend out... but really thanks again
  3. Hi skyblue, something to ask abt ur swee swee tv console again.... what is the depth(width) of your tv console huh? and the doors are flap-down doors or flap-up? and inconvenience encountered so far with ur current door system?
  4. okies...i shall go take some pics of the shelving's brown line and show the after pics..
  5. or u can wait for me to try it on my shelving and tell u the effect...i am hoping it looks good cos i keep thinking tat if its good for car paint touch up, it shld be good bah...
  6. I think desperate times calls for drastic measures...i think u shld get the officer-in-charge's name, when he/she ask why, tell him/her that you are going to tok to your MP during Meet-the-people session. (pink, correct if i am wrong, u stay in marine parade right? mp is Mr Goh?) this will call for more attention from them and more prompt replies....and i mean really tok to ur mp if this thing cootinue to keep ding-dong back and forth...cos this kind of thing can be very disrputive to u and ur family lifes....
  7. philips have one flourescent tube that is dimmable...saw it in mustafa. told my electician and some of the light shop owners and they dun believe initially. i asked them to go update themselves...haha... but the tube is not the long kind, its those for PLC light type...
  8. i have 8 downlights in the living room and i have 2 switches to control 4 downlights each....so i might be installing warm white for 4 of them and cool white for 4 of them. if i wanna cosy effect, i will on the warm white switch, if i wanna bright, then the cool white switch. if i wanna duper bright, then i will on all....
  9. self-fix and home-fix sell those special type marker pens for touching up car paint which is chipped or scratched.....thinking of getting one to touch up the joint lines in my study room's built in shelvings....i am thinking if its good enuff for touching up a car, its shld be good enuff for the joint lines.... so maybe u wanna try it out...
  10. i think for cove light, u dun need to buy T5....just the normal flourescent tubes can le...cos no one can see and the space is big enuff...i think but not too sure, that T5 is more for small spaces whereby u need those thin tubes...maybe i am wrong...
  11. hehe..i think so too....how's ur HDB prob? hope all is going well...
  12. yeah...must top up....200 plus for the tv console... the tv console i gonna face long term..so worth it bah... i went hse viewing once to see workmanship of an ID...the console is white...the black joint lines so obvious and screaming out to me....i cant stand it at all
  13. the orange lighting is warm white... the white white type of harsh lighting is daylight and the in-between is cool white
  14. wah...tats very worth it from xzqt! i got my dining table from AIR Division already, so thinking of getting the Funk Chair from XZQt...but after 30% disc, still cost more than $200...no choice...gotta wait and see...or see parents-in-law wanna sponsor anot..haha...if not...found an Ikea substitute....ehhehe
  15. yeah it sure does look good....use warm white and not cool white or daylight, or else defeat the purpose of creating a cosy and warm feel..
  16. wah...Elder Goh is like a super hero coming to ur rescue...very nice...hopefully from now on, Uncle will attend to your hse promptly and properly...
  17. our ID warned us abt the ugly joint lines beforehand..which was good, or else i will be super irritated... asked them abt the postform laminate...looks like not suitable for our tv console and dining feature...so chose solid core instead....
  18. Ivy, i heeded ur advice and chose Formica's solid core laminate for my tv console and my dining feature wall.
  19. wow...your lving room and the cove light is so long!...i like...very grand...
  20. hehe...ya...i am glad i contributed, but not only this wor...still got many things i DIY..haha ya, there will be a shower screen with door cos we are using overhead rain shower which is right in the middle of the shower area, so a screen alone cant prevcent the water from splashing out... see tat tile...its 600mm by 1200mm...one single tile which my lady like a lot...so hopefully, it wun cos flooding due to water unable to "run" to the floor trap...the floor trap is also not the usual one...its 600mm by 100mm to "catch" more water to increase flow rate......cost me a mini-bomb ....
  21. Common toilet tiles....effect not captured at all...look nicer "live". basically the tiles give a wallpaper effect... took a break to enjoy the "view"...
  22. Hi folks, some pictures to share today as the tiling work for the 2 toilets are done but before the acid wash. so its a bit dirty and the effect cannot be seen clearly today went to lay the pebbles with the Shifu, got my hands and legs dirty... finished product...i laid that strip near by the shower kerb. shower shelving for the shampoos and shower foams... Boxed-up pipe clad in "rusty" tiles... Finished look before wash and plumbing stuffs up...which is not very nice cos of the layer of cement, plaster and watnot
  23. I agree with Ah wei....if u box-up, u are boxing up nothing...so why not make the space as extra storage space....beter....the current box up at the corner can be make to look like a cabinet, which cant store anything of cos...
  24. 1m by 1m glass top with scented wood legs....not gold, but not cheap. not within my budget ..haha.... even if gold, also no money to pay.
  25. Reno Diary Update for week 29/06/2009 to 05/07/2009 Ok, let's see this week have been abt tiling and solving problems in the MBR toilet. and of cos more buying of stuffs, including big ticket items like tv, fridge and washing machine and the home entertainment system. the first 3 items, we have been aiming for months, so it was chop chop getting them. but we spend another 3-4 hours testing sound systems....but salesguy was my bro's fren, so he was super patient, bringing us back n forth between rooms after rooms......Initial budget for the home entertainment system was just 1k. not a big audiophile really, so just wanted the regular cheap Home-Theater-in-a-Box. but after comparing the sounds of several systems and the whimsical fancy of wifey and myself, the budget was increased by another $600 to 1.6k, to get a Denon 7.1 system. total damage at the electronic shop was a staggering 5 figure, biggest invoice so far. but its worth it. took delivery of our hansgrohe set and art basin for the MBR toilet too. then more shopping at robinsons expo and bought bath mats, towels, Lock n Lock stuffs and rice container (Bee Thung, haha). wanted to get a $98 Europace standing fan but was sold out, argh. went to get our PLC lights for the MBR and MBR toilet with my cousin-in-law and he was shock that we have 13 PLC lights in just these 2 places! haha....not a lot lah... 2 in the toilet. 1 at the MBR entrance, which is also entrance to toilet. 2 shining down beside wifey's side of her bed. 2 beside mine. 3 on the L-box shining sideways 2 in walk-in-wardrobe. 1 halogen spot light in walk-in-wardrobe shining at the wall opp entrance to illuminate watever future art piece it will be there. all warm white....control by an array of switches, so all wun be on at one go, of cos......not bright right?...forget to mention that all double tube...haha went Home fix and self fix hunting for spray bidet for the 2 toilets although i bought an bidet seat cover for the MBR toilet. should be getting the stainless steel ones in Self fix at vivo. went Proof Living @Stamford House to hunt for coffee table and dining chairs. Was quoted an insane amount for a very very nice looking coffee table. was really disappointed actually, cos tot i finally found it when the salesguy said, "it cost Seven ...Nine....Six...".....but then came the "Zero" alamak! why liddat!...then he said " i can give u 30% discount" and started punching his calculator. i was thinking "bro, u give me 50% discount also no use, still beyond my budget. unless u give my 90%" sianz... went XZQT and saw their new arrival, Funk Chair, very comfy and stylo for a dining chair but beyond budget again...$998 for 4....worth it anot? I am thinking of at most $800 for 4 chairs.... and the week ended with the coffee table and dining chairs at large...elusive...sungei kadut next..................
