  1. Kelvin Giormani is made in China using Italian leather. Quality is OK, if you are paying imported price then too much but if it is cheap then ok.
  2. Full leather means the whole sofa is leather, half leather is the seat, back and armrests are leather the rest is synthetic. It is possible to tell by looking and touching.
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about their quality, they supply to Harvey Norman.
  4. Elfe, The original sofa by Cierre is actually very comfortable, the Cellini Calypso is inspired by this sofa, it has been scaled down therefore not so comfortable. You can see the original at www.cierreimbottiti.it, you can also see physical set at Qsquare by Marquis off Upp Paya Lebar, the original sofa is beautiful and comfortable.
  5. What are you considering to use it for? It is great for a guest room. For everyday use please buy something better.
  6. Dunlopillo is now being manufactured out of Vietnam, there may be quality issues. You have a fairly generous budget why don't you just want for a bedding promotion from the major department stores like Robinsons, Tangs or even Takashimaya. You will probably get a good deal on a Sealy or Simmons. I prefer Sealy because I am fairly heavy and their spring system is better for me but all the top brands should be quite safe.
  7. You can try Small Claims, if the product not delivered the Tribunal will ask the dealer to refund. But no guarantees.
  8. I am leaving a gap in my system wardrobe and putting it on a Ironing board caddy.
  9. KingKoil not bad, but a bit dodgy because the local manufacturer is a licensee. But they have been around awhile, I am not a fan.
  10. You can call a locksmith, they can sometimes just change the internal components of the locks. You can get their numbers from the stickers they stick all over the place.
  11. Good Places to buy mattresses in Singapore are: Robinsons Bedshop, Courts Megastore and Tangs Vivocity. All the above are reputable store with a selection of branded mattresses. The stores will protect you even if the brands are dishonest. IMM and Furniture mall are good because of the presence of many boutiques but I suggest you stick to reputable brands which are: Sealy, Simmons, Slumberland, Dunlopillo, the rest are a little dodgy.
  12. Go to DIY store and buy a leather cleaner, instructions are included.
  13. If you look at the Backcare 3 and 4, they are not very plush, you are paying a lot for the Simmons brand name. You should go somewhere you can try and compare the feeling. Tangs at Vivocity has Simmons and Sealy side by side, you can try them out there.
  14. Hi Beef, I have had business dealings with these people and they are really a pain in the butt. I am just hoping that fewer people have to go through the pain of doing business with them. I am sure you had no problems with them but why let someone else take the risk?
  15. My old hob was Turbo, was OK can work but when the wind blows the fire was affected.
  16. I got some from Moderne at Temple Street, not really cheap but not really expensive as well. IKEA is always good.
  17. Lifestorey has a Bazaar sale right now at Great World City. Best time to buy.
  18. It is very unlikely that Lifestorey will sell you something that will peel after 6 months. Anyways, Singapore law provides that furniture that is ordered as new will have an implied warranty of one year.
  19. Piper, You budget is generous, the top brands are as follows: Sealy, Simmons, Serta and Tempur. Actually anything from Sealy and Simmons should be fine. Sealy mattresses are usually plusher because of their patented spring system and Simmons are usually firmer because pocket coil mattress have to be firm to prevent sagging. It really boils down to your preference for comfort. FYI, Capella on Sentosa uses Sealy mattresses.
  20. I have had sound sleep for the last 37 years without negative ions. Should not be a major consideration. You should look at Comfort and Support.
  21. My experience with Lifestorey is that they are fairly honest, if you are not sure look for Eric or Max. They can probably be the best people to check with. I bought some Kartell pieces from them, very happy with their service.
  22. If you are planning to split the space exactly in 2, in other words 3x3m, I recommend a 1.5m diameter round dining table with 6 chairs. But if you want to have a bigger sofa set, then a rectangular table makes more sense.
  23. PAN STAR is a local wholesaler operating out of Sungei Kadut.
  24. Ritz Rymen is one of those old school furniture shops that try to charge you as much as possible and give you as little as possible. Unless you are really good at bargaining, I suggest you give it a miss. For a less painful shopping experience I recommend the following companies: Cellini, Lorenzo, OM, Star Furniture, IKEA, Courts and Harvey Norman. At least these companies put out prices and you won't be charged based on how much the salespeople can get out of you. A sure sign of trouble is when you don't see prices on the products.
  25. Lifespan of Genuine Leather is about 6-8 years. Some people use it longer with maintenance. Also, your sofa foam and frame is already used for 5 years. So it would be better to buy a new sofa than to reupholster. Having said that if you have imported Italian set, it might be a different story.
