  1. If you are going to do the An Chuan thing, it is best to arrange for the delivery a few days before the actual date to build in a buffer to errors. If you arrange the delivery on the actual day and there's a screw up, then you will miss the auspicious date.
  2. A topper won't help you. The mattress is probably too soft for you therefore you are sinking into the comfort layers causing your warmth. If you are the kind that cannot deal with a warm mattress get a firmer mattress.
  3. I bought from them before, no problems at all. Sometime customers get bad service because they have a bad attitude.
  4. Look up upholsterers in yellowpages.com.sg

    Domicil

Apparently there is a warehouse sale going on at Domicil. Anybody went to check it out?
  6. Bump up for the benefit of forummers planning to go furniture shopping.
  7. Actually for this particular sofa, it should be obvious just from looking at the design to know that it is not genuine leather because the panels are very big. Natural leather comes from cows so the panels tend to be smaller and there should be joints on the seat and they backrest. Paying $1500 for a 2.5seater PU leather sofa seems to be high but then to get a decent genuine leather sofa that is properly constructed you must be prepared to spend up to $4000. So at the end of the day you got what you paid for.
  8. Nope standard mattress length in Singapore is 75" or 190cm. King size mattress are wider not longer, the width is 72" or 183cm.
  9. Actually Comfort Design is not bad, they sell a lot of replicas and copies of designer products. If you can live with copies to save some money if quite worth buying.
  10. Seahorse products are amazingly cheap, if you can accept the designs I am sure they are worth buying because for the price you pay for a branded product you can buy several Seahorse products, even if you end up replacing your sofa every year.
  11. A 2-day delay is actually very reasonable, perhaps they made a mistake and they have apologised, that should be compensation enough. If all companies start giving out 25% discounts because of a late delivery, consumers will suffer in the long run. Companies will have to build in an additional 25% margin to take into account that they have to cough up the money in case of a minor error. I am not saying that it is alright to miss delivery dates, but if it is a matter of principle the consumer should just cancel the order and not try to take advantage of a company that probably made an honest mistake. If the delay was 2 weeks that would have been unreasonable. If the consumer does not want to reward a company for missing delivery dates they are entitled to a cancellation and refund. That means the company loses the order and the profit that they would have earned for the order. Asking for compensation for late deliveries is just poor behaviour.
  12. If you look at the posts on the forum, even brick and mortar stores are not 100% reliable. Buying online seems like living dangerously.
  13. Kim Hwee Sofa is decent, you can find them on the yellowpages. But if you redoing so many piece you may be better off getting a new set.

    Armchair

Try Domicil, 11 Gul Circle, a bit far but got a few pieces.
  15. It is best to put in a firm delivery date on the order during the purchase. You can cancel the order if they miss the delivery date, important thing is not to accept delivery. Once you accept the delivery then you can't cancel.
  16. It is best to check when the goods are delivered, if reno not done do postpone your delivery. Otherwise, you are at the mercy of these retailers.
  17. Well, HTL at 11 Gul Circle is currently having a stock clearance you can try that.
  18. I just want to share my experience when I was selling mattresses. What most retailers won't tell you is that all mattress manufacturers offer a sales incentive to salespeople to sell their mattresses. The incentives given by the top brands such as Sealy and Simmons are generally not very high because their brand alone will generate the sales. For newer brands or brands without a solid reputation, the manufacturers will give the salespeople very high incentives to push their product, it can even go as high as 10% of the final selling price of the mattress. So imagine if you spent $1000 on your mattress, $100 goes to paying the salesperson. So if you are in the market for a mattress, the last person you should listen to is the salesperson in the showroom. Their recommendation will always be the brand that gives them the best incentive not the brand that produces the best mattress or the brand that will best suit your needs. It will be safer to go to retailers that carry only a single brand of mattress, at least they will be promoting the product that you are most likely to buy or to large retailers that have promoters from the manufacturers promoting the products from one manufacturers. My 2 cents worth.
  19. The difference is due to the fact that you actually bought something from him. I am sure your experience would have been less pleasant if had not decided to make a purchase.

    Domicil

  21. Usually the leather that will peel is either PVC or Bonded leather. Genuine leather may peel if it gets soaked in sweat or water too often. Hope this helps.

IKEA 317 Alexandra Road 60 Tampines North Drive 2 IMM 2 Jurong East St Park Mall 9 Penang Road With the exception of Xtra Living, Air Division and Grafunkt, I found the selection there to be mostly expensive and uninspiring. I think the tenants at Park Mall need a reality check if they want to remain the premier destination for fine furniture in Singapore. I just updated the list with Domicil.
