  1. 10 April 2013 Got news that my carpentry will be sent to my place today. So I dropped by after work to take a peek. Full of carpentry in the living room My big red bottle design wardrobe doors for dunno which room Master bedroom wardrobe Tmr will be the big installation day. Stay tuned for more photos!
  2. For the entire last week, my floor tiles are redo because my ID is unhappy with some of the uneven tiles in the living room. Was given the "Out of Bound" Order not to step into my new flat. So I guai guai stayed out of my new place for the entire week. Kinda of miss the place as I had been travelling between workplace & new flat everyday since I got my new keys. 6 April 2013 Surprise Surprise! My ID sms me and told me that the glass doors for my kitchen and bathrooms are up. The mirror for the dining area is also up. Shower screen also up. So happy that my ID arranged some stuffs to do up my place and I was not been informed. Thanks for the surprise har. Shower Screen for master bedroom Kitchen Glass Door Half Mirror for Dining Area
  3. It is a standard boxup for the water pipes for new BTO flats.
  4. My water pipes are not installed yet so I cannot comment on the water pressure. Will update again once the water pipes are installed.
  5. The last piece of furniture yet to purchase is the King Size bed that me and my CFO are having headaches every night, thinking which to purchase. We caught sight of a Sealy brand bed from Courts and it costs a whopping 6K without bed frame. Ouch, i didn't know my CFO's taste is so 1st class! 6K for a bed. If i buy it, i will have burst my budget way way too much! The current bed that i am sleeping right now is from King Koil. To be frank, i am not a fan of comfortable beds. Because when i am tired, i can sleep anywhere including the hard floor. I am also a person where i will stick with the trusted brand that i had used before. So King Koil is naturally my first choice. We went to many places selling mattresses and only the mattresses offered in the King Koil Boutique @ City Square Mall caught my CFO's attention. Well, the price is not cheap as well. It costs a whopping 5K but it comes with bedframe. Original Price was 8K. Not sure how true is it? I used my bargaining skills to push the price further down in the 4K range and sealed the deal. Abit heartpain after buying the bed because it exceeded my budget badly. Need to use my bonus to cover the overspending on my bed.
  6. Went to shop for the suitable sofa and coffee table for the new house. Had shortlisted a few selections but only the sofa from Hommage and Full House left us the deepest impression. This one from Hommage. It was initially our first choice but the price increased $200 plus when we asked before CNY period and now when i finally decided to purchase, the price went up and the sales person refused to drop price. Being abit budget tight due to my overspending on other home accessories, i decided to KIV the confirmation with Hommage. Then we decided to visit Full House Furnishing again to decide on our second choice. This one looks abit crampy but the feeling on sitting it is excellent! It comes with 2 recliners and a long L shaped sofa. Price similar to Hommage and best part is that i can pay by credit card instalments at 0% interest. We also found a suitable coffee table to match the sofa. Small and nice. Got secret compartment.. Swee swee service from Full House as well. So finally confirmed the deal with the same salesgirl that i bought my dining table from in Jan.
  7. 31 Mar 2013 ID emailed me the final design for my living room feature wall. It will have a marble effect laminate and a bottle shaped design shelving for my collection of vodkas. Looks nice? I have asked for a 2ft full height shoe cabinet with settee done near the main door. Not sure how the final product will look like. I saw this vodka sticker/ decal done up for one of the forumer house. Does anyone know where i can get this done? I PMed the owner but no response till now.
  8. Electrician came to install the chandeliers. Passageway chandelier without the crystals. Was told not to install the crystals first as the painter will be here again to do some touchup so in order not to stain the crystals, it is better not to install them first. See how bright it is at the passageway! I bet with the crystals up, the whole passageway should be wonderful! Dining area chandelier up without crystals. One bulb is enough to lit up the dining area, there are a total of 6 bulbs. Not sure if the brightness can cover the whole of living room? It comes with LED lightings. 3 modes, Red, Purple and Blue. Comes with a remote for you to choose the type of lightings effect you want. Cool!
  9. 30 Mar 2013 Happy Saturday! My plumber is here to install the rain shower and kitchen pipings. Citygas is coming to install my gas heater and pipings and the electrician is coming to install the chandeliers. Rain shower up in mbr. Water pressure is good. Hopefully with the installation of gas heater, the water pressure stays this way. Got disco lights on the smaller shower head. No batteries installed but running on the water energy theory. Not bad for the price i paid for. Citygas uncle doing measurements for the gas pipings. Got my Rinnai gas heater installed at the service yard. The gas heater placement does not block the hanger system when it is down. Neat
  10. 29 Mar 2013 Good Friday Since it is Good Friday and public hoilday for everyone, me and my CFO spent this special day fixing up the chandeliers that we received on Monday. It was fairly easy to setup and the instructions were clear. But there are alot of crystals to fix up and we spent quite some time to get the whole chandelier up. With the help of my ipad and CFO, we assembled the chandelier up Now i finally understand why the shops are charging so high for the chandeliers in SG. Because the installation will take them alot of time as the bigger the chandelier is, the more crystals you have to install. However, i am not sure if the shops provide free installation if you purchase from them. After fixing up the passageway chandelier, we realised that it is not logical to install the chandelier with the crystals on it as it is too heavy. So we remove the crystals and pack them nicely back in the box. Although it sounds stupid to fix up and dismantle after that but we gained the valuable experience of fixing up. The other dining area chandelier and entertainment room chandelier are a breeze to setup once you get the whole picture on the setup.
  11. 25 Mar 2013 I had received my goods from China! Didn't know shipping took 7 days to reach. Too anxious to receive the stuffs that i drove down to collect the items although it comes with free delivery service. A total of 6 parcels. I was so amazed by the packing of the basin. It came with wooden crate to protect the basin and i need to spend 30 mins with the help of my ID and CFO to remove it. Chio chio.. hopefully the gold plating does not fade over time. My kitchen Mixer. Looks good at SGD$60. Rain shower set also came in but never take photo. Will show the installation photo later.
  12. Hi Snookie, I believe it will fit because most of the taps that are selling in Singapore are from China. I had received and installed my rain shower and it fits perfectly. So i believe the rest of the accessories should fit without problems.
  13. My ID smsed me a good deal. She got a brand new kitchen sink available to give. Sounds like a very tempting deal but I had already set sight for the Blanco Metra 9 kitchen sink from Hoe Kee. So no choice but to reject my ID's offer. After rejecting the good offer, I made my way down to IMM to purchase the kitchen sink and arranged delivery on the 22 Mar afternoon. 22 Mar 2013 Tada.. My kitchen sink is here. Opening up. Yes! I choose granite black to suit my black granite kitchen top! Overspent on my kitchen accessories. Hope my CFO don't...
  14. Gotten my kitchen mixer, basin and basin mixer plus rain shower together with my chandeliers to save shipping costs. Placed an order on 18 Mar, it should arrive in 3 weeks time.
  15. I decided to purchase my chandeliers, kitchen mixer, basin, basin mixer and rain shower from Taobao. It is not the first time that I bought things from China as I have a close friend staying in China so I always got my friend to send me the stuffs that I bought from Taobao. The chandeliers that I choose for my dining area, passageway and entertainment room cost me slightly more than $400 in total. Plus shipping costs, it added up to be $500. Well, the price I paid for taking the risk is worthwhile. I saw similar chandeliers in lighting shops at jalan besar and balestier road. The price for one chandelier equals to my whole purchase. The Dining Room Chandelier http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.28-7255283717.5.ImNCee&id=4456497676 I got the 800*220mm version. Comes with LED lights and normal bulbs and remote control. 16. More photos of lightings in master bedroom & Living Room Master Bedroom Living Room The lights really make me over the moon.
  17. on the very same day, the electrician came down to do the installation. I am installing Fan with Lights for my mum's bedroom. Silver fan for my living room. LED Downlights are installed as well. Cove lightings plus Downlights effect
  18. My master bedroom colours designed by my CFO. Hopefully the colours match the design of the wardrobe and bed frame. 18 Mar 2013 Was told by my ID that the electrician can come down anytime to install the lightings so I decided to get my ceiling fans and LED downlights and stripes immediately to suit the electrician schedule. Got my Fanco fans & toilet lightings from Alex @ A Lightings through recommendations from renotalk kakis. While I was window shopping for home furnitures, I bumped into one of my ex bunk mate and to my surprise, he had set up his own business, selling LED Downlights and LED strips for private property and commercial buildings. He also supply downlights to some shops in Singapore. So I decided to give my good mate business and in fact he offers the most attractive package by having 3 years warranty for all his products. I got 11 LED Downlights and 15m of LED strips from him at a much discounted price.
  19. ID got a solution for my uneven kitchen tiles! She proposed to have pebble stones installed to make the uneven tiles look even between the living room tiles. Something similar to my main doorstep design. Not a bad idea. Save cost and solve the big headache! Kitchen kerb are constructed as well. 17 Mar 2013 Painters are here to paint the house. Had a hard time deciding the colours as we wanted the house to look bright and painting white is too plain and normal. So we decided to paint yellow for living room and sunshine yellow for my cove design! For my mum's bedroom, we choose jade green for her. My Entertainment room is so ...
  20. Was very furious over this defect. But I cannot do anything about it since reno had started and it is impossible to get HDB to rectify the issue. So I can only get my ID to think of a solution. The gap is very obvious if you take a closer look. Meanwhile, the tiling is done in a span of 3 days. Aircon Pipe covered up by tiles. Neat and Nicely done! My Main Doorway done up with pebble stones. Swee Swee
  21. 11 Mar 2013 Finally chose the homo tiles that we will be using for the whole house. Got the tiles from Hafary and it cost $3.85 per sq feet. Ouch, the tiles are expensive but still cheaper than marble flooring. Initially wanted to get marble flooring, but the price is really out of my budget and I cannot imagine spending 15K to step everyday in the new house. Tiles in! Tiler measuring the difference in height between the kitchen and the living room Received a shocking sms from my ID. Was been told that the level of the kitchen tiles are not straight with my living room tiles. There is at least a 1cm gap seen between the kitchen tiles and living room after the tiles are layed! Wah piang, what a defect and poor workmanship from the construction company! Can you notice the gap?
  22. The rectifications took place immediately after I shown my unhappiness on the workmanship of the false ceiling. The subcontractor accompanied with my ID took down my requirements and proceed with the changes. Does the curve looks weird? At least it looks better than the initial stage! Similar curve at the living room corner The gap between the aircon unit and the ceiling is been reconstructed closer for the master bedroom. The incident over the false ceiling design left me pondering whether am I too stingy with my ID. But to think of it now, who will not want their flat to be nice when so much $ is involved?
  23. Second Hipcup during the installation of the false ceiling. We wanted the living room design for the cove lightings to be as smooth as possible, no sharp corners or any sharp ends. But the cove design for the dining area end just before it hits my aircon unit. Complained this to my ID and she got it curved instead. To make the overall feel better, my ID proposed to have the other corner of the cove design facing the living room side to be curved as well. Hopefully the overall feel is good after painting. At the moment now, it seems that the curve is not smooth as it looks.
