  2. Hi, Everyone Happy New Year, a bit late waterbase varnish should be safer for pets and for sanding a wood flooring which I had it done to my previous home you need to know the thickness cause over-sanding will destroy the wood flooring. Just to let everyone know, Hau Hau Parquet has moved their office to Blk 5, Kaki Bukit Road 1, #B1-07 Singapore 415936. You can try contacting Hau Hau Parquet for flooring repairs.

  5. Hi Jk and Happy New Year to EVERYONE Well from what I know Teak Parquet flooring length can reach up to 1' less expensive and Teak Long strip flooring length can reach 9' or longer if you can get it to fit in a HDB lift. Which is better? Well Parquet flooring with shorter length means more joins and gaps but can be lay with more pattern. Check our the pattern design page at hauhau.com, you will see the different pattern of laying. As for Teak Long strip flooring it can be lay parallel or vertical towards the length of the side wall. It is usually more expensive to installed. To me I like Teak Long strip more because there is less joins and gaps and it make my room look bigger. Well the final choice is still up to you.
  6. Hi I'm not sure whether you are using Teak if so try hauhauparquet.com check out their website for different sizes of Burma & Indonesia Teak flooring. Hope this help
  7. [Can I also check for teak, are there lighter or darker tones for them? Cause from what I see, the lighter shades of parquet flooring seems to be the hardwood (maple, birch) rather than teak.] Hi utopwe Try AK47sst link http://www.flickr.com/photos/ak47sst/3472566013/ on Teak flooring tones. If not try hauhauparquet.com they have smaller pic. It is natural for Teak Flooring no matter Burmese or Indonesia Teak to have lighter to darker color however Teak from Indonesia has slightly lighter color compared to Burmese Teak which has richer Teak oil content. Depending the adhesive use it is best to allow the wood flooring install on water base adhesive to completely dry up before sanding and varnish. This is to allow adhesive to bond firmly to the wood flooring and also allowing the water in the ahesive to evaporate thus minimize any shinkage that will happen in future. At least allow two weeks for the drying proceed if possible. Try not to rush through the installation process this will allow the wood flooring to serve you and your family better and longer.
  8. Hi everyone, As far as I know, solid Teak wood flooring in Singapore imported mainly from Burma and Indonesia. Where raw material source are few, prices of these products wouldn't varies too much. Hence if you are looking for solid Teak wood flooring and you come across offer, promotion etc. Make sure you look at the quality of the actual product first before you place an order. Never base on the lowest price you can get. Cause these are solid wood flooring, not plastic flooring. If it is very cheap there is a reason for it. Flooring is for long term use hence better be safe than sorry.
  9. Hi ak47sst Do check you room cabinet or furniture anything big that is not made of solid wood but chipboard, MDF board or plywood cause I've purchased a cheap book shelf which comes with termites hidden in the base. They manage to digest parts of the last shelve only after a while but leave my Teak flooring alone cause the Teak oil in the wood prevent termites from eating it. Spray Baygon at places which is dark and damp and destroy any ants nest you come across if you hear slight clicking sound that is where their nest is. Mackeith is right look carefully do some research and visit the company if possible don't get deceive by band name, special offer or free gift and no matter how big or small the company is, it still comes down to the final person who is serving you. Not to forget checking out RenoTalk forums will definitely help.
  10. Hi freezer Mine is a naughty 6 years old male Chihuahua who like to mark territory then come looking for me or my wife with the innocent dog face. Well I've tried many method hope at least some will work for you. 1) Do not allow them into the Parquet bedroom close the door let them know where they cannot go, if no choice then must punish if they pee on the Parquet flooring. clean up immediately if left overnight it can stain the Parquet varnish. 2) Get a special spray solution from pet shop spray on the sensitive places to deter them from marking the area. Also get the cleaning solution to get rid of any smell they've mark. 3) If possible walk the dogs everyday. 4) Get a large plastic tray secure a thick plastic pole in the middle and place it in where the dogs love to mark. Dogs love marking standing pole and table legs very much. 5) New place, new rules must let them know what they can and cannot do. Use dogs treats to teach them. Using the above methods for so many years my flooring is still in good condition ah with very minor damage all inflicted by me.
  11. Hi It is true, very dusty if sanding in an enclose room, I provided them with ventilation fan solve the problem. I also cover up the gaps and area which are hard to clean. However seeing my Parquet flooring look bland new again is well worth spending my weekend spring cleaning the ceilings then do it myself and unable to get the matt finish I want. Plus the job gave me a backache. I heard that there is a special equipment to solve this problem from my friend however at a higher price. Well I think there are other options which you can ask from the service provider.
  12. Hi Everyone Try hauhuaparquet if you are looking for Teak wood flooring. There are different sizes of wood flooring to suite different budget. Check out their website at hauhauparquet.com I think they have other hardwood flooring too. Hope this help
  13. Hi ak47sst My is also 73mm width but is 18mm thick and only 18 inches long. Do check with you contractor the thickness of your Burmese Teak Flooring cause in future you may need to resand and revarnish your Teak flooring due to wear and tear, I mean dents and scratches. With this info the contractor you engage in future will roughly know how much he can sand off from the surface thickness.
  14. Hi everyone I've once tried DIY a small area of Teak flooring in one of my master room fill with dents. I must said it is hardwork plus backache with all the sanding, patching and varnishing. However in the end I could not get same matt finish as the rest of the Teak flooring. I ended up calling the professional and was glad I've done so because my Teak flooring which was only 12mm thick minus the inital sanding when my Teak flooring was first installed I was left with less then 5mm of surface thickness before it reach the tongue and groove of the Teak flooring. Hence the contractor said they have to be very careful to prevent oversanding. Correct sand paper grit and equipment have to be use. Especially when using big sanding machince which could easily eat up a lot of the surface thickness before we even noticed. Well the Teak flooring is now serving a new owner who is also fond of Teak flooring. Hence unless you've experience in carpentry work or have done this before. It is best to get professional opinion first before jumping to DIY.
  15. Hi ak47sst I understand the contractor do not have the Cert. However the company or supplier who supply your contractor the Teak flooring installed in your house should have one. Anyway I've seen the picture look nice and I'm pretty sure it is Burmese Teak cause it look similar to my Burmese Teak Strip flooring installed in my room. Unless the light is playing tricks on my eyes. Sorry I couldn't show you any picture of my room but you can visit hauhauparquet.com then click on the Burmese Teak Products on the left column and there are some small picture at the beginning of the page. You will notice that Burmese Teak natural color come from very light brown to very dark. Is your Teak flooring size 11.5mm thick x 73mm Width x 1 foot up Length or 11.5mm thick x 95mm Width x 1 foot up Length?
  16. Hi I've added a post under Cost Of Parquet Flooring I guess you didn't see it. It is quite hard to tell the different when the Teak flooring is done with varnish. However Burmese Teakwood would look darker brown because the Teak tree from Burma are older much are from very old natural forest thus more Teak oil and also more expensive. While Indonesia Teakwood are from plantation normally cut down at a younger age thus look lighter in color. Both can repel termites. The best thing to do is to request for a Certificate of Origin by the supplier for the Teak flooring that are delivered to your house and call up the supplier to confirm. That is what I did. Hope this help you.

  18. Hi everyone Try hauhauparquet.com they are the supplier of Burmese and Indonesia Teak flooring. They also offer free recommandation of experience wood flooring contractor for resanding, revarnish and repair work too but only for solid wood flooring and not for laminate flooring. Hope this helps.
  19. Hi Been to witergal's Home photo, Wow I can only say your money is well spend. It give me the warm and cozy feel of a Batam resort and this is what Teak flooring is capable of. Well my Teak flooring was installed in my three bedroom also done by hauhauparquet and more toward Zen style. Too bad I choose homo tiles in my living room flooring for my house in Sengkang, thought of using Teak but afraid of too much human traffic. Got almost the same floor plan and same bathroom tiles as yours, how much do you spend on you bathtub wanted to install one in the master's bathroom for a long time?
  20. Hi everyone My house Teak flooring was also done by Hau Hau Parquet & Wood Industries Pte Ltd. It being 9 years and so far so good. I've no problem with the white glue they use for my Teak flooring and I even went back to buy some more for repairs to my rosewood furniture joint which I'm using for over 20 years. I happened to live in several houses which was installed with different sizes of Teak flooring from Indonesia Teak Mosaic strip which was only 6mm Thick to Indonesia Teak Parquet 12mm x 2" x 8" and Burmese Teak long strip with thickness 18mm x 73mm width. Well they all have the same warm and solid underfoot feeling unlike some laminate flooring which has the hollow sound and could not take the weight of heavy furniture resting on them. But dent can occur in solid wood flooring which include solid Teak flooring. Thus special care like adding 3M pad to the furniture legs and not dragging heavy or sharp object across the wooden floor could help reduce scratches and dents. Even so, dents and scratch marks on your wood flooring appears after many years of wear and tear. You can still contact HauHauParquet or a qualify wood flooring installer for a resanding and revarnish service which will make your wood flooring look brand new again. However do take note if you are using only 12mm thickness wood flooring be cautious, cause over sanding of the wood surface during the inital installation could reduce the surface thickness of the wood before it reach the tongue and groove thus reducing the number times you could revive your wood flooring to serve you. Hence in my opinion selecting a good wood flooring installer base on the company or installer years of experience and workmanship is very important. Cause they could offer you many ideas, advices and assurance that the wood flooring install in your house will serve you and maybe even your next generation as well.
  21. Thanks yokine9a However I've found link on http://www.hardwoodinfo.com/display_article.asp?ID=192 and on FREEINTERIORADVICE saying this Laminated flooring are made of High Density Fibreboard which are actually wood pulps compressed very tightly to form boards. They are not conducive to our humid environment as high moisture in the air eventually damages the fibreboard by loosening the fibre within. Laminate, which is a man-made surface with printed patterns, is 'glued' on top of the fibreboard, hence the term, laminated. Parquet refers to the method of laying solid timber stripwood. The size of these solid timber vary and the pattern of laying dates back. Solid timber, as the name suggests, is made up of a solid natural piece of wood. The most popular type of wood used for parquet in this region is teakwood. Because it is natural wood, the grain and colour of each strip is inconsistent, unlike laminated boards. This, however, adds to the beauty of the floor. It is unusual for laminated flooring to be infested with termites as these boards are treated with a certain chemicals. The problem could arise from other sources. There are a few possiblities as to how white ants could occur in your flat. The previous owner may have had white ants in one of his wood furniture and these may have spread into the flooring. If the flooring is old (>10 yrs) and if your unit is on ground or 2nd level, dampness, which results in wood rotting away, may have attracted these termites. Sorry too much info, although it didn't mention which brand of Laminated Flooring, oh well I'll try to get some Pergo Laminated Flooring samples. Dissect it to see what it is made of. Too many choices will get you confuse
  22. Hi Everyone I'm just curious, does the laminated flooring use real wood veneer or just printed image of the real wood? Too many choices will get you confuse
