  2. jaskel : yup yup, 22nd Jun to be exact Couple of days before that we will to a meter reading to transfer the SP services to our name booy : my hubby wants to paint the house leh, give the whole house a fresh coat. mrspiglet : Oh yea! hopefully the greens will help in my failing eyesight pinklady : thank you Erm, my hubby has the easy access card, is that considered a member? Okay, we will check thoroughly when our sofa arrives. Over the weekend we went to change the colors of the set, initially was a light brown frame, but the more i thought through the more i felt it doesnt match the theme i wanted. End up we chose beige for the frame, 2 cushions of the same color as the frame, 2 walnut cushions and 1 brown
  3. Finally, our long awaiting 1st appt is over! Everything went on smoothly and we had set our 2nd appt to be on the 6 Jul. The owner agreed to hand over the keys 2 weeks before the 2nd appt, which means, we can move in in June!! Yipee!
  4. we bought it from barang barang - and coincidentally they use sealy mattress to display on its bedframe
  5. we bought a ready-made frame for our sealy mattress, and for the past 8 months it has been serving us well If you have an idea in mind or its design needs to suit the theme of your deco, discuss with your ID and see what they can do for you.
  6. haha..! true true, you can see the cars every second dun get this 'luxury' if watching there. If you see my house floor plan, the living room is longish... more practical to put juz a 3seater so it will not feel cramp. We still need to consider the area for dining table. Anyway, coming monday is our 1st appt!!! YAHOO!
  7. love your bright living room! Very spacious, many ideas for you to play with
  8. mode studio seems to have something similar... or you can try lush
  9. we will not do any reno as the house is already well done up. Juz thorough cleaning and move in furniture
  10. glad to hear that.. thanks!
  11. initially we were told to pay the 1% commission on the day of 1st appt. My hubby discussed with the agent and we agreed to pay HALF of the commission on the 1st appt and the balance to be paid on the 2nd appt. Is another way to 'protect' ourselves and ensure the agent 'serves' us throughout the transaction
  12. we will be getting our keys before the 2nd appt too. Owner has oredi outstation and they agreed to let us in earlier to do clean up and move in our stufs.
  13. has gave up on their balloting and bought a resale we tried before HDB changed its period of balloting (used to be 4 times a year for different areas but now they release all areas and limit to 2 times a year) with no luck. And from fiance/fiancee scheme we are now to purchase under public scheme
  14. GrandPaPa, I read up this article and it said sofa is best to lean against a solid wall, which symbolise stability/no worries (wall along corridor not considered a solid wall) but our house layout is unable to do that. We have to put the sofa in the mid length of the hall. Dining area is behind the sofa. Is there any method to turn it in favour to us?
  15. cool! so you will be going for the F1 nite race this year too? oh, tat sofa.... keke... small house need small furniture to complement each other
  16. exactly... our 1st appt is gonna be on a weekday morning, before 10am
  17. Went to Courts Megastore today and checked if there was any cheap deals to grab. Surprisingly, we were able to spot some sofas which we like The black L-shaped sofa caught our attention (its price and color). I wanted an ottoman and this set came with it. For a price of $1299 and choices of fabric for the frame and back cushions we felt this was a great deal. Next is this brown L-shaped sofa. Liked this as the length fitted better in our narrow living room. A safer choice. Lastly is a 3-seater. Simple lines, suit our theme to a T. Well... hungry men couldnt think hence we went to the cafeteria in the store to grab our dinner. After filling up our stomachs, was decision time! We decided on the black L-shaped, as the price was really attractive. Length wise was... eh... in the 'acceptable' range. I was actually worried that the living room would feel 'congested' if we had this giant in there but, well, price was too good to resist. So we started to select the fabric (or rather, I selected it). The SA was pretty helpful and suggested several combis, but i insisted on PLAIN design, MONO color. After much time spent on discussing, we finally chose a striped beige color for frame (my hubby's choice), medium brown and dark brown for the 4 back cushions. My hubby asked if it looks weird from the back (coz we gonna put it across the room) and i thought it looked fine, just that the back frame seemed kinda weak (quite 'thin' compared to the other 2 sofas). The SA then told us this set is not suitable to put across the room, better to lean against the wall as they were modular, the seat may 'slide off' from the position He recommended to put a carpet to prevent this happening, I shun off this idea. Carpet is a definite NO for me. Well... after spending so much time, we forgo this set and moved on to our next favourite The brown L-shaped was more suitable for our lit' home, coz of the shorter length... and there was the "L" for my hubby to lie on. The chaise will be against the wall and if you notice, there is no frame for the chaise. My hubby was concerned the wall would turn black in no time if we lie and 'rub' the wall (our wall is white color). Okay, idea dropped. So.... this was our choice! Actually, this is my favourite I always wanted to get 2.5 - 3 seater kind of sofa but my hubby loves L-shaped. To my surprise he could accept it and while sitting there he oredi felt at home! He likes the generous armrest allowance and the uber comfortable goose feather back cushions. I like it coz this size of sofa fits best in our longish, narrow room. Somehow it acts as a 'divider' from our dining area, and also the whole look of the room will feel spacious. The fabric we chose for the frame is a golden brown (something like lion's mane, it 'reflects' under light), a deeper brown for 2 cushions, a gold based floral design for another 2 and 1 more gold (exact in the pic). Flexible delivery service (unlike Ikea ), they allow us to hold the delivery for 3 months, and we could choose the day and time slot too! Delivery charge at $30 for weekdays and $40 on Sats. Okay..... 1 thing down, 2 more to go !
  18. yea, black seats are more practical though i agree with you that white will stand out more (unless you choose those 'plastic' seats or with removable covers)
  19. many 1 for 1 promo with UOB cards now.... In fact, we have booked for Furama Citycentre in May and Club Chinois in Aug
  20. actually i did not know what was that (thought is juz a normal seat) until my hubby's friends kept asking him how much... then i realised it's worth some money... haha...! You're a sports car fanatic?
  21. if budget is your concern, you may want to take a look at beds.sg. Knew someone who bought from there and she commented is pretty good. Of coz, this type of mattress may need to change after a couple of years whereas a good one can last for a good long time
  22. *salute!* dun think my hubby and i have the patience to shop for best deal (hence always end up getting more expensive stuffs). Read your t-blog, that is really alot! So far we have been to: - IFC Bugged my hubby to go there - it was soooo far! But the convenience is that many reputable furniture brands come under one roof (i had the idea that stuff in IFC is cheaper than TFM ). Nothing really catch our eyes other than a couple of consoles in Cellini and dining sets in Picket and Rail. Had brunch in the cafeteria, and tried the aglio olio. Too much olive oil Mode Studio I saw from its website that the sofa and consoles are quite in style to what we want. Went in and the console I had in mind exactly! Piano white! My hubby saw a sofa he really fancied, the sales staff was pretty helpful, telling us the offer they have ($1699 - last day), the factory could customize to our measurements, select our preferred fabric… At that moment we did not have the exact measurement of the house yet, and we do not have spare cash, so after all the goodies he mentioned we still did not place the order. Then the guy started to turn rude (or so I thought). He said something like, "cannot be anyone so stupid don't want to take up this promotion". Gosh! I was so pissed off, and at the same time glad that we DID NOT get from him. Enterprise One There were several furniture shops, but prices were…. Ahem… out of our budget
  23. thanks booy! shall try that hopefully he can do up something for us at a reasonable price.... I saw it retailing in the shop close to $1k, which i find the price does not justify... Is just a plain long console with 4 drawers! Have you settle your furniture yet?
  24. to those who frequent S&C, can we bring down pictures and request them to follow the same design? Actually my idea of the tv console is a very simple piano black design but the catalogues the lady showed us did not have what i want. And... Do they customise sofa? TIA!
