ivy, actually my consideration when i first ballot was also becos we dun have much cash & cpf so we ballot for ulu location like jurong west, sengkang, pungol, even the last we tried was the one in yishun but we always got lousy number, dun even get the chance to choose, so we decide to get resale unit where u can choose location. seriously i also think $300k is way too expensive for 3rm flat but even with the economic crisis HDB valuation never drop too much for resale unit in city area. Corner unit in this block is very rare, for the past year only 1-2 unit sold. that's y the high valuation. personally i'm also thinking of option 3, i heard it's no gd to put dining table in front of alter right? so i'm thinking of shifting it behind to the dinner. rondy, ya lor i heard frm my agent also, a lot of FT come to buy that's y the valuation of unit still quite high. a lot of down graders also so 3 rm resale price never drop. pinkpetter, my contractor says it's wear and tear, even if u replace with new tiles, sooner or later also will have hairline crack. but i'll try your suggestion to make sure, or else wait laminate liao, it 'pop' than very troublesome. angel81, ya lor bed behind tv no good but the wall on the other side is not flat, if u look closely @ the pic with my bedroom light, got pillar there so i'm not sure how to place the bed. I would love to do a L-shaped kitchen but that would cost us ard $5k more to hack & redo bottom cabinet and relay wall & floor tiles Option 1 - Below is my design of a L-shaped kitchen: * the white table besides the living room windows is my alter Option 2 - Kitchen remains, alter is place beside tv console Option 3 - Alter place near kitchen entrance My friend advise my to place the alter near the kitchen entrance as it's facing the windows, he says it's beside if my Guan Ying face west. If I place the alter near the living room windows it's best not to sleep in the room behind. Please advise on the 3 designs, trying to max. the space if my alter is place near the kitchen entrance. Due to budget constraint and not to rely on bank loan for renovation (cos my wife & I are both thinking of studying using study loan, dun want to stress too much on our pocket), below is the scope of work to be done: 1. hack & redo top kitchen cabinet w soft closing. 2. remove L-box and fan in living room, replace by simple cornise 3. redo bedroom 2 and living room windows grille. 4. redo some lighting points + add scv point and replace both bedrooms downlights 5. replace wc and basin in shower total damage:$4.5k Everything should be completed within 2 weeks

Hello everybody, After lurking ard the forum for the past few months and drooling @ all your marvelous home transformation, it's my turn to contribute. First a bit on our story, my wife and I rom in Jan 2005, started balloting for new units after my wife got her PR in Jan 2006. I remember my first BTO was in Jurong West near the current Pioneer MRT, we got some lousy number is the thousands. We try again with the new flats near Tiong Bahru MRT again, we got lousy number, to cut the story short after countless of BE & BTO, finally give up and decided to look for resale units in end of feb this year. We managed to find our dream home after only 1 week of searching. , it's a quiet estate within the city. Attached below is my floorplan:

i have also signed up with supreme for ac5 laminates, just paid deposit haven't done up my place yet. anybody have problems of laminate popping up?

actually i agree with yowetan, u paid for someone to coordinate the work and be the contact point of the project, if he's always uncontactable and u need to take time off from work to supervise the reno, u might as well look for workers yourself to do it. we all know uncle soon is a great guy who put a lot of pride in his work but his group of workers is another story. i was also considering to look for uncle soon to reno my new place but after a few of the t-blogs, notice he could be uncontactable or forgetful abt details some of the time. i think all the workload is too taxing for him. i have decided to source for other contractors.

thks for the quick lesson in selecting hob & hoob, i was also recommended fujioh brand when i went to buy my wc set in genova. i settled for the baron soft closing wc set which cost $388. he says the oil from the hoob will flow to the plastic container so just clean this and occassionaly remove the filter to wash. easy cleaning is a must cos my missy cannot tahan stains. aubrey next weekend, 23 & 24 May phillips will be having a warehouse sale @ 620A Toa Payoh, maybe u can go there to do some shopping.
