Hi, I'm changing my washing maching after its 10 long years of service, yes its a THomson brand. Would like any suggestion of electrical consumer goods store that carries this brand of washing, nevermind its a hdb shop or the model is old one as long as the washer is new and the price is best. Thanks.

Hi, you can check out buildershop on silestone. I also read it on its website that it can take cutting and acid but not sure how true it is? Anyway, purchase mine last month during sale but yet to be install. Btw the no lining part is NOT TRUE hor! There is still a grove line because unlike solid surface which is a mix of synthetic plastic can mould and bend into any shape and the joints can be melted together before installation. Engineered stone is afterall crush stones moulded together into a slab. The colour variaties aren't fantastic but I can live with it for the price and the level of maintainanence. Everyone has a budget but whether does it suit YOUR needs.

I'm had new pipes install when renovating my kitchen, the first few gush of water is brownish when i turn on the tap and my hands, plates and cups smell of copper after washing. Any way of getting rid af the awlful smell. Should I let the tap run until it turn clean? Other better alternative?

I'm starting my kitchen renovation in June and decided to throw out the kitchen hood. Its still in good working condition but not as shinny shinny new, bought it from Mayer 8 years ago but only use 20times. Gurang Guni won't take it, a shame to throw away but want the space for cabinets. Dimension height 110cm, square base 50cm by width 60cm. Interest can PM me, offer ends June 1st.

Thanks for the advise, actually my old surafce is postform so don't know their should be no joints lines for solid surface. Last sunday, went and bought a silestone countertop at stile shop but haven't install yet, will definitely put it across to the supplier.

Hi adding in my experience with laminate (bedroom) and terracotta(living room)flooring. About 8years now. Pros: Look nice, easy to clean, young children fall on it less damage on the child. Cons: Can see the join lines, joints and corner also a bit pop up. Don't know whether if the laying is done properly my master bed seems to be lopsided.

For added caution against the heat and ease of cleaning, if u r not using any hood, ask the contractor to put steel sheet for the cabinet above the cooking area.

Hi, try to go for the slimline model trust me, chimey ones are good to look at but take up lots of space besides hdb don't have a very high ceiling. u can put better use of the space save for storage. For me I will be discarding my chimey hood because I don't use it often and if don't do a lot of frying better off jus wipe down after cooking.

Some Suggestions/comments On Kitchen Revamp
2ndtime replied to 2ndtime's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
Nice! I saw its Blum system, expensive isn't it? BTW what is your previous kictchen like or is this your new home? -
This is my 2nd time going through renovation after a decade so bit out of touch with the prices of materials and workmanship. This time is just the kitchen, because we couldn't take the rotting wood and mould any longer. At first decides on solid surface for the countertop then think why not build it up with cement like those kitchens in the older days, practical and dont hv to care about water splashing on your wood cabinets. But the price doesn't comes cheap even now during economic crunch. One of the ID told me even hdb doesn't allow for a cement block for more then 10ft in length! So...I have to settle for a cement support for only the sink area. BTW my kitchen is L-shape. Can anyone enlighten me whether the hdb rule is true and see if I'm overcharge or any other better suggestion on kitchen design? 1st quote $1650 for 15ft kitchen cabinets(top+bottom) $638 for 7.5ft solid surface $800 for est 3ft concrete support. $260 for 1set of casement doors below sink 2nd quote(didn't tell me about hdb regulation, full concrete support) $1495 for 11.5ft (including tiling works) $380 for 2 pairs of casement doors.
