Really can sense the anger and the stress that you went through. Especially when you're alone handling the whole renovation. But let's put it this way, you knew way before the reno that he and company has no licence. Yet you chose him. You chose to take the risk knowing that what he is doing is wrong. Now when things really turn out wrong, you kept emphasizing that what he did was an offence for not having HDB licence. But we as consumer, we're suppose to check. It is an offence to engage someone who is not licenced too. When everything has no proof, no contract, it is difficult to get the law on your side. Even ID or contractor who has licence, and did not do their job well, we also can't do much with them. Either we accept what went wrong, or get them to rectify, or worse engage another contractor to redo/rectify the job done. If things are really not done up well in your house, perhaps you wanna look for rectification? Mayb can give Ah Soon a call and see if he can advise and help out from a contractor point of view. Anyway those who knew who the contractor is, can PM me? thanks

your hood is white. Where did you get it from? whats the brand?

saw from your blog, the inital qote for 9ft as 2.5k. so u reduced to 5ft. and yours seems to be cheaper than mine. do you have any picture of your wall feature? my ID mentioned it is designer wall feature. hopefully not just a board with laminates. I kinda like those wall feature with 3D feel....

I agree. If they do whole house, then the prices are better. But the tiling contractor we engage, sub the carpentry out, and we pay direct to the carpenter, so price not much discount, but of cos cheaper cos he is not ID. The "carpenter" brought us to view a flat which he done up the carpentry, and I would say, very outdated feel. Whereas the ID we spoke to, gave us a trendy and modern feel. Moreover hubby and I cant design, so decided it is best to leave this job to ID. And best of all, she can do a 3D graphic design for us to visualise. Perhaps you might ask, why didn't our tiling oso give to this ID? well, we are very particular about the tiling job. and this tiling contractor has good workmanship. So we decided to have 2 different companies to do up our place.

To supply and lay protection sheet for the affected area - $180 General cleaning for the whole house - $280 Debris fee - $250 This ID oni do my carpentry, false ceiling and lighting. Tiling and hacking is by another contractor. cos my contractor sub his carpentry and ID out to others, and the 'designer-cum-carpenter" cant even dry a proper 3D design. So we decided to get ID to design our place and the carpentry. But really scared of ID firms....expecially hearing lawry's story

Turning A House Into A Place We Can Call Home
pinkiedreamy replied to trashley's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
I think most people kept the toilet downstairs mainly for guests. Cos in the event where you have friends and guests coming to your place, and when they need the toilet, they will have to go up. then there will be no privacy, and you will have to keep your things well, as you can't possibly keep track who went up and kpo into your rooms. but i do understand that EM kitchen are small. A friend of mine resized her toilet. so that just a toilet and a small sink inside. no washing area in the toilet. so perhaps you can consider this. I also love having an island. i guess most women wants a WIW and a island. lolz looking forward to see your end result. -
Nice 3D drawings. White is really nice. I also wanted a white house. but now I'm having a black-white and glass cos we wanted to have black tiles for our living/dining rooms and bedrooms. and ID say white house very glaring.....mayb she meant bright. Just love having glass at home. but really need to maintain especially with dust and fingerprints. You getting a maid? cos dust is obvious on white surface too. And really not easy to look for pure white furnitures. Really cant wait to see your final product. How much are you quoted for your reno? The glass are ex

Met up wiith that so called ID. aiyoh. more of a carpenter cos do carpentry. No 2D or 3D. realli need to use my brain cell to visualise. Anyway, he quoted us the following: 5 ft wall feature for LCD TV = $700 6 ft TV console suspended = $900 Shoe cabinet suspended till ceiling = $800 Vanity Top (MBR Toilet) = $550 Vanity Top (common Toilet) = $350 Vanity Mirror = $150 - $180 (depending on size) Pricing reasonable?

We already took a package with Closet Design. Closet Design also mentioned that in future, when we move house, we can dismantle and bring the whole thing over to the new place. Of cos, without the partition wall and door =) So we find this rather good. At least the money spent can be "reused". unlike most built in wardrobe, which is not movable. Anyway thanks. Will still go check out Alumix for my bedroom 3 wardrobe

I'm meeting my ID tonight. looking at our floorplan, 1. My kitchen entrance is 2.2m We dun normally cook. If yes, will be steaming/ stir fry/bake/ boil. Do you think I should do up a glass sliding door? My contractor quoted me $1.3k for that glass door. 2. After much thought, we decided not to have aircon in living room. cos I want a false ceiling in living room, and with aircon, means there's a hole at the false ceiling near the wall (just for aircon) don't seem to look nice. Anyway, i can always have a ceiling fan. Cooling enough? cos never have a ceiling fan at home before. 3. I know ceiling fan must be on original ceiling. Then those hanging lights for the dining area, is it okie to hang from false ceiling? Will it be too low? 4. MOST IMPT!!! This ID is a sub company my contractor recommend. He will be doing our carpentry work. Usually they will ask what's our budget. I will get him do... - feature wall for TV - TV console (still deciding - is it cheapr to buy (then it will not be suspended) or get him to custom build(will suspend it)) - shoe cabinet - 2 x Toilet vanity - study room suspended table and book shelves. How much budget should i give him? This excludes wet work. Our kitchen and WIW will probably give to Closet Design.
