Hee.. i agree that its a pretty unique idea. You might be the first to install the fan in this manner. But I think must really plan and check if its going be a danger hazard if its mount on the wall like wind mill.

Hi Risis, Your kitchen look reddish-orange with white tiles to me on the picture. Is it due to the camera or angle of lights? And did I read Jacuzzi? Wow, must post pic of your jacuzzi.

Hi Poseidon_Gal, My flat still going through the lift upgrading, so probably not the same flat. I pm you on the answer to the question.

We can moved back to neither side, cause my room already taken over by my bro and his room better still, his parents shifted to his bro's place and rented the whole place out. So the plan is either to stay in during reno, or rent another place. 6month will just pass by in a wink of eye. Like now already May, I am still thinking.. seems like just started 2009 and yet its almost half the year gone. I bet your reno probably going to start early than mine since we are great procrastinators.

You mean my current old horrible kitchen? The current layout is L-shaped but no glass door. The L shaped and glass door at entrance will have to wait for Poseidon_gal reno. I am thinking of opening the entrance at your green wall tile side, not sure if that wall is hackable. Hee.. I guess the few of us are really going to turn up in all the different variation of the kitchen, though we have the same layout. Very interesting hor..

Hi Metalsubzero, You seems to know alot about washing machine. We are looking at Hitachi SF-80JJ. What do you think about the brand and this model? http://www.hitachiconsumer.com/sg/products...s.aspx?oid=2692

Hi Wakzoo, Your kitchen look good. Very unique with all the white applicances. Its my 1st time seeing an all-white kitchen. It give me a very pure feel. Only thing is that I feel that your kitchen worktop is pretty limited. Do you have any other worktop hidden somewhere?

Yes, our layout are pretty close. Mine still not started yet. Your blog is good , alot of tips to pick up. I haven't really give a real thought of what to keep in the cabinet until seeing how you planned for yours. And they really fit in it nicely. These are really useful tips. I think I need more time for my planning now, cause need to think of what to keep those bottles/ sauces / utensils etc... must really .

Hee.. that time was thinking of having some 2-ppl world, so moved in after just painting and cleaning up the place. The stay-in during renovation had not occured to me that time. Now, I also don't know how , cause our barang barang have increased quite alot after staying there. Meanwhile, still thinking and planning of what we want to do first. Hee.. we quite layback kind, probably won't start the reno anytime soon.

Hi guy77, The decals that you have ordered are nice.. I like the urban and the trees one. Are you doing the shelving on top of your sofa? You make me feel like buying them also. Do post pictures of them after your reno finishes.

Hee.. after seeing your layout yesterday, I am also thinking that we might be neighbours. And its a yes to your question. I think its just the matter of how close we are. My flat is in the midst of the HDB upgrading. Is your flat undergoing upgrading now?

Wow, you managed to dig this out from ermm.. don't know how many feets below. Hee.. Im getting lazy to update my blog, didnt even finish the part 2 and 3. Ok, I think I need to brace up, will continue the 'leaking' stories... er.. later. I didn't took any picture of my current house condition, cause haven't really start the engine to do the reno. But I will try to take the kitchen one for you.

Hi Poseidon_gal, "Another beam that runs across the passageway where your rooms are.." you mean that your flat only got 2 beams which is a like cross (t junction for your beams) ? I got another beam which is in the middle of the passageway (cutting across the passageway). The 2 parallel beams that I mention earlier are where the walls of the storeroom extend all the way until the wall of the entrance. If you only have 1 beam in this direction, I wonder if one of mine can be hack off. How do you intend to place your lightings? Are you doing any false lighting? I feel that these beams are making things difficult for the ceilings works. If do false ceiling, its like too low if I level them at the beam level (to hide them). If do L-box, it looked kinda of messy on top. So I don't know what to do with them. Cracking my head to think of a nice solution for it. Back to the kitchen, my old sliding doors are not clear glass. So cant see into the kitchen. I can try to take a picture of it for you. But my kitchen cabinet are in a horrible state and colour. They really don't look nice. Don't know if they will affect your decision.

Hi Poseidon_gal, I am so excited as I just found that we are having the same layout. Infact, our measurement are identical except for the fact that mine is the mirror of you. My ex-owner had hacked the kitchen opening just like you and put a 2-panel sliding door on it. And yes, the entrance to the kitchen is pretty big. The old sliding door that we inheritated doesn't work anymore as 1 panel sort-of came out of its track, so we are just having 1 panel as the entrance which I thought is quite spacious already. So your kitchen going to be pretty 'exposed' to the outside if you are going to install clear glass panels (viewing from the dining area). And the other coincidence thing is...... my current kitchen cabinet layout is exactly how you draw on the paper (L-shape to the Fridge, instead of the usual L-shape to face the windows). The fridge is also at the same location, except for the sink support which is above the rubbish chute. I wonder if your flat also have those beams lying inbetween the dining and living area (2 beams parallel along the passageway) ?

Hi iluvmybeans, Welcome!! This is what I usually do.. I press the 'printscreen' button on my keyboard, paste it to the program 'paint' and then save it as a picture file. Afterwhich, I will upload the picture to the photobucket and then paste the photobucket link here (under the picture). Hope it helps. By the way, me and hubby also at the initial phase of planning the reno. Hee.. only difference is that we already shifted in. Where are you staying now?
-
Hi Risis, What door is that? Is it your mbr door? I actually prefer the circles which I thought match your theme better than the mickey and bears shape to follow the theme throughout. Hee.. but most importantly, is what you and hubby prefer. Your contractor seems pretty efficient.
-
Hi Smallboy, Nice kitchen you have. The wet and dry area look good. Very good planning. Myself, I don't like L shaped as its hard to reach and kinda wastage. If I were you, I will forego the cabinet between L-area 2 & 3. So that there isnt any L-corner for 2 & 3. Hee.. Thats just me. Your kitchen is still nicee... and useful with all your prior planning. Looking forward to your picture with the cooking wares.

Hi risis, I also think the coffee table look out of place in the drawing. Is your theme going toward retro? If so, you might want to re-think about the cove lightings above the tv console. Somehow I feel it doesn't fit into the retro feel, more of modern comtemporary. I prefer the first picture as I think the orange + red console has the retro feel. Very bold colours to use. But I still feel it lack abit of somethng which I cant really pinpoint to it. Just my thoughts.

Yes, don't think my hubby will allow me do the sacrificial ceremony of 1 room. Hee.. anyway, your kitchen island is nice.. one of the 'swee'-est that I ever come across. Thanks for sharing that pic. So where are you putting your dish washing detergent and sponge? I thought 1 of the bowl is to hold them.
-
Hi quix, You got pretty nice layout. I think your layout has high potential for doing an island in the kitchen. Hee..
-
Hi Zonkkie, Your kitchen look very niceeee.... I noticed that you didn't have the usual dish rack. How do you plan for that area? Is it somewhere under the island, near the sink? Hee.. didnt see any picture of the area between the island and the cabinet, so just guessing. But your kitchen is really nice. So tempted to do island also.

Hi Pinkiedreamy, Read that you intend to do a pole system for your wardrobe. We have done our with Alumix roughly 1yr ago. Quite good. The pole can be disassemble and reassemble back. So we are considering going back to them to add an extra unit after our reno. You might want to consider them as well. http://www.alumix.com/

Sorry for the lengthy post above. I'll keep this short and sweet. But since i am at the wiring part, I feel like sharing my parent's one also. Recently, the singtel telephone line at my parent's place also having some problem. They ask the singtel technician to check and found out that the line was 'spoilt' because of its old age (10+ yr). So to resolve the issue, they need to redo the line. But the telephone line was actually hide in inside the cornice too. Think its really popular to do cornice last time. So need to tear down the cornice to redo the phone line. How my dad regret on doing cornice last time. But the lucky part was.. my parents went through the upgrading last year to add on the new unit so a new phone line was pull for the new unit. Hence, he was saved in a way they can still have phone at home but the phone is at the utility room behind the kitchen. The technician suggest that they buy those cordless phone so that they don't need to run to the back to answer phone. The singnet modem is also currently at that rm behind, so the signal is pretty weak. To think last time he do telephone line at all the bedrooms and living room, now all the telephone point doesnt work anymore as all of them run on the same line into the house.

After reading some of the blog here, I think its a common trend with the young couples now to hide / conceal all the pipings, air-con, wiring etc.. So I feel like sharing my thoughts about this. Before I move to my current place, I had the same thinkings. Conceal or hide whatever at all costs to make the place look neat and pretty. But after moving here, I realise that its not very practical to conceal. Just to share several incidents that we encounter. Incident A : Water heater storage tank electricity trip occasionally We encounter several occassion where our electricity trips whenever we turned on the water heater at the mbr. This water heater was inherited from the ex-owner. Its in working condition, but somehow it just trip 'occasionally'. So we are trying to find out which point will trip together with it. Called in several electricians but none are able to resolve as most of them claimed that they only check for electricity and not familiar with 'water' stuff. Finally we managed to get hold of 1 good electrician who managed to solve the issue for us. Of course his bill is also 'good' After this incident, hubby decided to do re-wiring of the whole house to clean the wiring up. We check with several electrician but most don't want to do. Why? Because our living room and dining room have cornices all over, the centre part of the living room is a 'dome' look-alike cornice. So if we were to do the rewiring, they need to tear down everything and its really troublesome and the rewiring doesn't include making the area good back. So we put off the plan until our reno. Some kind uncle electricians was telling me its trendy to do false ceiling during reno nowsaday. Nothing wrong with it and they look real nice. But there are some electricians will try to cut their costs by instead of pulling a new line for the box, they just pull 1 line and interlink them to many points at the bedrooms etc.. and when the owners finally move into their new place, their electricity tripped all the time due to overloading. By then, usually they cant find the electrician already and even if they can find, need to tear down everything to redo, so very seldom people will do for them since its 'extra' work for them. So end up the owner need to source on their own outside, and that's when they are approached and learnt of these issue. But most of the time, they will reject such job as its like cleaning the sh*t for the one before and not so easy. So they told me to take note of this when doing rewiring and false ceiling. I think they are really kind to teach me these, when I didn't engage their service. So now, im cracking my brains to think how to run my wiring to minimise the ugliness and whether to have false ceiling.
