Yah, I think most of the shops have phased out the old model. I ever saw the bishan best denki cutting the prices to push it out like warehouse sales as the exhibition area. Most of the shop tell me that the new model is made in Thailand. Hasnt hear of China yet. Hee.. the bigger capacity and smaller watt was what we like too. Can cook more things at the same time, such as bake 2 trays of muffins at the same time. And yet the electricity consumption is lower.

Hihi XBB, We went to play with the display set before we made our purchase. I am not very sure about the temperature control but when i meddle with the display set, the round knob can turn the temperature under baking mode. Hee.. you can go and play with it first. Btw, is the width of your tall cabinet 60cm? I thinking how much to assign for the tall cabinet. About the old and new model, they have different model numbers. So its quite convenience to differentiate it.

Hi Mac_oasis, I pm you the shop name, you can go and have a look. I have not receive my loots yet, so don't dare to recommend first. We are taking a risk not buying from those forum-recommended ones.

Umm... i am not sure. Got to check with my hb. I'll check with him and let you know. We bought the new model from Hong Liang, went to those big electrical shop in the mall to look see look see first and found that most of their sales assistants don't know much this product as its still new. The other similar product is under panasonic. Have you went to their cooking class already? Is it fun?
  6. Hi Wakzool, May I check with you if the dishrack and the divider tray in the drawer, are they provided by Henry? Did you provide your own hinges for soft closing or you are using Henry's ones?
  7. Wow, your main door look very special with the laminate. Does it mean you choose the look from the laminate catalog or its a special catalog for the doors? Did you choose different laminates for the 2 sides? So the one in the picture, is it facing the inside / outside of the house? We also chosen our main door last Sun. Didnt get to see any catalog, the contractor just told us that its fire-rated, flat front and gave us 3 colour to choose (all wood colour).

Here's my kitchen layout. Just added in the washing machine after last night discussion with my hb. Its the one at the end (opposite the chute). Sorry, I cant seems to find the washing machine logo, so use the other one instead. The other position that we are considering is next to the chute and close to the cabinet ('protruding' inbetween the chute and cabinet). Idea is to make the place look spacious with everything at 1 side. But we thought it might look crampy at the other side. And also whether the smell from the chute will affect the washing machine. Our concern with this position is whether it will look awful as our entrance is a glass sliding door. So to counter that, we will be adding a half height parition thingy beside the washing machine to block the look and yet still kept the light shining into the kitchen. And the 2nd concern is the rain as this position is next to the window. Hb proposed that we can slide and kept the windows to this side at all times. Another good point about this layout is.... we can wash the chute more conveniently, without this washing machine next to it.

Hee.. no la.. I usually on the mixer towards the cold side first as the water are quite hot initially. Then when the water slightly colder after my shampooing, I will adjust it towards the hot side. Usually by the time I finish everything, the mixer is like 3/4 at the hot side. Thats why I scare not enough hot water.

Yes, currently my place also have 1 storage heater in MBR bathrm and 1 instant heater in common bathrm. Afew reasons for having them both, 1) to avoid unnecessary pipings (both my bathrm are separated by the dining area), 2) the switch for the storage heater is in the MBR currently, so if anyone want to bath in common need to walk into the mbr to switch it on which is quite inconvenient for them, 3) I like to bath in hot water, so each time after shampooing my hair, I have to turn the knob to mix in more hot water and by the time I finished, it seems like the hot water almost finish already. Hee.. I only bath for 10-15mins. Thats why prefer not to share with common bathrm, incase anyone bath at the same time, I don't know if there is enough hot water.

Hihi XBB, We are doing a straight kitchen cabinet. So the worktop quite constraint, especially when we have a full height cabinet at one end also. But I have a small facing worktop opposite it (next to fridge), to put applicances, such as rice cooker, kettle etc. I'll share the kitchen layout later. Yup yup... need to be cool headed now. Super duper thanks for all the great advices!

Yes, we went through the layout ourselves again last night. I think we will remove the cabinet door at the far end beside the sink to shift the sink closer to the end and leave space between hob and sink. Hasn't tell my contractor about it. Think will ask Hb to tell him later. Hopefully it can be done.

Yah, yah... so stress last 2 days. I think I was overwhelmed by all the things that we need to decide on the spot on Sun. So stressful and very worried if the decisions made are correct especially in such a short span of time. Felt better after last night cause we thought the stuff that we confirmed are quite advance at this stage (before hacking), so still in time to call for a change. We sort of decided the position of the washing machine last night as well as the position of the sink and hob. Will call Henry to let him know so that he can change his drawing on the wall. By the way, where did you place your washing machine and fridge? I remember we got the same layout for kitchen. Hee..
  14. Thanks for the confident shot, Dyleen. I'll feedback about Eric service after my installation. Yup.. definitely understand how you feel. I am shocked that they didnt even have the decency to give you a call to inform about the postpone and their inability to install on Friday. Do keep us updated about the progress. I guess alot of us are interested to know if we should continue to reco them to our friends & relatives.
  15. Oh my... we also engaged wellmax for the windows & grills. But we signed with Eric, not mark. Hb just phone Eric yesterday and he asked for our contractor contacts to liaise with him directly. How can they give you such a reply that the installation was not done due to not enough time and Mark was out of town. Did you speak with Mark about it? Me worried now cause my installation is next week... think will ask my hb to call again to confirm. Cant afford to delay the work...

Some updates: Had an eventful day yesterday. Arranged for the mover to come at 2.30pm, our contractor at 2pm and initially planned to visit Hafary at 4-5pm for the re-selection of some tiles. But Simon from Hafary told Hb that he had another appt in the noon. End up gotta rushed down to balestier around 11am+ and then rush home to pack some stuff. We managed to re-select some of our floor tiles yesterday. a) Changed mbr bathrm floor tiles as hb was worried about the ridges on it which might trap soap/water which was feedbacked by some forummers and also worried if the colour was too dark for mbr bathrm. Shortlisted 2 tiles where 1 of it was $3.90.. need to top up. b) Also change the balcony & recess area tiles as we thought the colour of the tile from the 1st visit was too 'yellowish' to match our greyish marble at the living room. We cant decide both tiles on the spot and brought 4 tiles samples (2 tiles for each area) back to think about it. But Simon told us that we only got 1 day to think as he need to give the tiles code to my contractor today. Gosh... so stress. We managed to reach my void deck around 1.30pm and received the call from mover to check if they can come earlier (which is now), luckily we are at the void deck already. They arrived at 2.05pm, straight after my contractor came. So I got to entertain them while my hb talk with Henry. Anyway, they are and fast. My mum who receive the furniture from the other side told me that they are very helpful. Henry came to mark the area for demolishing yesterday. Hb was following him around the house while I took care of the movers. Afterwhich, we went through the tiles with Henry and confirm the tiles for the balcony & mbr floor tiles with his opinions. At the same time, Henry also asked us about the bathroom layout for both mbr and common. He then drew the layout on the wall. Actually we wasn't very sure about the common one as we are thinking whether to put the washing machine inside. Anyway.... we didnt as we didnt want to put a shower curtain to hide the washing machine as suggest by Henry. So the washing machine is out of the bathrm. But I still cant decide where to position the washing position in the kitchen.... and I need to let them know by this week, still got some time to think over it. Henry also asked us about the kitchen cabinet.... and had to decide on the sink and hob position. Ermmm... I thought it is still early since we hasn't start our hacking so I hasn't give much thoughts to it. But seems like we have to let him know on the spot. The discussion ended with the gap inbetween the hob and sink to be only 45cm due to the tall cabinet at the far end, sink and hob length. And also based on the 'normal measurement' of the drawers/doors for the bottom cabinet, such as my hob is around 70cm, so he leave the bottom cabinet as 80 or 90cm to make 2 doors and the corner beside the sink, I thought only need to leave around 20cm, he said normal door is around 45cm so the allowance beside the sink is 45cm... end up the middle part can only have 45cm. I thought its too close. I wanted at least 60cm initially. I cant confirm the layout. So Henry told us that his carpenter will discuss with us in details at the later stage of the reno. This is just for the wet works. Erm... is there any difference? How how.... does it mean I cant shift my sink position later? We even discuss the laying of the kitchen floor tiling (whether vertical / horizontal from the kitchen entrance). We also have not think of it yet. Have to decide on the spot, so Hb decide on vertical laying so that the kitchen look longer as suggested by Henry. Hopefully it'll look nice. We also discuss and confirm the bedrms door selection, bi-fold door selection, main gate design & colour as well as the main door colour. Gosh...... we actually didn't expect to confirm those so early. Hopefully we didnt make any wrong decisions. Oh.... and Henry passed us the lamitak catalog to decide our kitchen cabinet laminates. We are thinking if we should match the tile backing at the cabinet area with the kitchen cabinet laminate colour. Henry gave us 1 day to think over it as he's going to order the tiles on tuesday and if we are going to change, we need to reselect and confirm the tiles tonight. Aiyoo.. make me feel so stress.... we are looking at the catalog until 1am.... and I need to wakie at 5.20am today. Really feel the lack of beauty sleep and we havent even start our hacking~~~~~~~
  17. Hi BD, Nice progress on your bathroom. We almost got that stylo 'microphone' showerhead for the mbr. Settled for a penguin one instead. Are you boxing up or painting those toilet pipes?
  18. Thanks for the advise. We are thinking real hard whether to use white glossy laminates. Very scare of it turning yellowish in few years time. Yet white seems to be the best option to go with black galaxy top. Do share your ID's comment with us. I am sure she can do something about the sink. But the laminates colour.. i . Aiyo.... how can they throw hammer on your laminated floor.....so rough.. must be very heartpain for your wifey to see it. Must check the area if any scratch / dent.
  19. Hi sohck, I also didnt see the yellowish from the pics, prolly cause the laminate look whiter than the wall colour in the pic? Guess need to see the real stuff. Hope your ID can provide a good solution to you since she recommended this laminate to you. We're also in the midst of choosing our kitchen cabinet laminates. Kept re-thinking and re-thinking... scare make the wrong choice and have to face it for years. About the basin, I would also insisted it to be shifted to the centre if I were you. Otherwise, the tile design behind would be spoilt. Do speak to your ID if the plumber make things difficult for you. The scratch on the marble floor look bad. Are they going to repolish it for you again?
  20. Good Morning XBB! Great to see your new house. transformation... from a darker shade to lighter one and it makes the whole place look really spacious. I like your blue mosaics.... we didnt pick any mosaics during our tiles selection, going for plain & simple look. Hope they turn out as nice as yours. Do share more picture of your house.
  21. I see. I see. Your glass is green. It look slightly grey to me on the pic. Think its the angle of taking bah. Ummm.. think we still sticking to light greyish for the windows glass. Just pray hard that they look good. But yours look good.

Thanks reiki. We going for the simple and neat look. Nothing outstanding, just hope they don't turn out too ugly. Hee.. Yup. We got them from Extreme after reading from the net. We also visited lightings.com.sg which was also highly recommended. But we found that it seems to have more nice and fanciful lights and those common type, they only carry the popular size like medium size but no mini/small and large size. So we went for extreme instead. Its only after I start taking pics of the lights that we bought and I realised..... we only got 5 types of lights (and small burger for store and bathrm which I forgot to take pic) for the entire house. So wondering if we should re-think about the lights. Hb came up with the reasoning that choosing too many different lights for 1 house will make it messy.

By the way, we selected our tiles at Hafary yesterday. Spent around 1.5hr only and we didnt go to any other tile shop. Is it too fast? But now that we are back, we realised that the balcony tile does not really match our living marble tile. How har? Still can change? Do we call Henry or Simon from hafary?
