  1. Hi HomeMaster, Hasn't see your update for quite some time. I thought your reno is over. Hope everything's ok. Edited: Sorry, I was called on a sudden meeting after posting my words below. Hence, just edited this post to remove the red heading. However, I did a screenshot on the red headings for record.
  2. Good Morning Reiki, Thanks for sharing the pic. hee.. just noticed that you also having the rinnai 2 inner flame hob. Our hob was installed yesterday by our contractor and hb. My poor hb cut one of his fingers while shifting it around cause the bottom is pretty sharp. You might want to take note of this if you need to move/clean it in future. By the way, the two circle metal thingy just put on top of the black glass will do?
  3. Hi Newnyew, Your painting look good. Hee.. can match my living room.. By the way, check with you... two questions.. 1) For your chio stove, is it silicon at the sides to the top? We're wondering whether to silicon it. 2) Which company did you order your cylinder gas from? Are their service good?
  4. Hi Reiki, Hee.. thanks for checking. Now we're left with buying and nailing the trunking. After the Tv was mounted, we realised the distance is quite short. Think we only need less than a metre for it. Will share the pic if we successfully d.i.y. the area. By the way, can I also check if your hob is silicon to your top? We are not sure if we should silicon it.
  5. Hi AJ, Nice reno. Hee.. Congrats on the shifting in tomorrow. Your boy must be very excited. We planning to clean up first and slowly shift back. Guess we'll be back next week also. Hee.. Hi Chip&Dale, I guess should be 4cm for the front profile based on the cross-section near the kitchen door handle.

Updates on Tv console: Continue from above.. Hee.. we finally managed to catch the full view of our console on the day of marble polishing. Here's our simple and common console. Hee.. Instead of hiding that 'tube' inside the feature wall/console, we leave it outside. Look ok to us, actually its only visible from the balcony view. We didnt want to hide it cause of our concerns about future checks/ removal of it. Here's the front view. Cant really see that 'tube' in the background. Our Tv just arrived 2 days ago. Hb planned for the Tv delivery just 1 day before the singnet installation so that we can use them to test the miotv. This is the bracket behind the Tv. We also took a pic of those sockets behind the tv, so that we can roughly know the points in future after the Tv is mounted. Here's our console with the Tv mounted on the feature wall. Hee.. yes, those untidy lots are my barang barang which have now shifted and residing at the balcony. Hee.. snapped a pic after the miotv installation yesterday. Cant wait to move back to enjoy the shows.
  7. I see I see. I saw the wood plank above the sink, so thought of asking you incase your carpenter make any mistake. Hee.. Hee.. glad to know that those pics are useful.
  8. Good Morning Red_devil, Your kitchen cabinet look good. Are you having the dishrack above your sink?
  9. Hey Reiki, Its ok. I think I was the one who got it wrong. I think we will buy it ourselves cause quite cheap (around 2.80 for 2m). Hee.. thanks for the pic & diagram. Err.. do you mean, you nailed the 'top' portion (as in your diagram), which is the flat piece to the wall? I think the electrician usually nail the other side (the one with sides) to the wall first and the flat piece is later put on after the wires are run. Hee.. if I didn't get it wrong, is there any reason for nailing the flat piece instead?
  10. Hi Greenpeace, You can check whether your contractor have apply the permit via 'MyHDB' page. All our hdb permits will be inside with the details. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.
  11. Hi MTLot, Welcome and congrats on your new place! We also ran cat6 wiring for all my four rooms + living room. Think should be quite useful. We didnt conceal the trunking/casing. For ease for future repairs/ maintanance. Hee..

Thanks Reiki, Er... both of us are not around when the tv console is installed. The wall for my feature wall should be quite sturdy cause the lifts are right behind it. As for the screws.. umm.. can only hope that they had used enough screw for it, since its already up. But most probably, we wont have much stuff in the console cause our Tv will be mounted to the feature wall. Infact, our Tv had came in yesterday to prepare for the miotv installation today. The feature wall look quite ok with the mounted Tv. Will post the pics later. The Singnet guys just came to install the modem. Hee.. Hb brought my pc over to test out the internet. Seems good. Hee.. can surf forum from my place now.
  13. Hi Reiki, We went to a hardware shop (5 jin shop), paint shop and lightings shop to ask about this trunk. But none of them have it. Is the wire inside this trunk easily access? How do you 'open' the trunk? My hb is thinking of just using the normal casing.

Updates on Tv console: We didn't really spent alot of time planning for our TV console cause we just wanted the common simple design. Its only until the carpentry discussion that we realised, though simple and common, there's alot of constraints with the design we wanted. Our initial thoughts was to do the front part with full black glass to achieve the sleek and seamless look. But the carpenter highlighted that the glass are heavy so we will need to do a aluminium frame for support. But doing the frame would not be able to achieve the seamless look that we wanted. We did asked if he can 'paste' the glass on the front part. But the carpenter was concerned about the constant 'flapping-down' which can cause impact to the glass. In addition, the black glass that we are thinking of, is actually black mirror. The carpentry also highlight that remotes will not be able to go through. Another blow to us on our initial design as we didnt consider this aspect. Hence, we had to change the design on the spot. We didnt really know how the black clear glass look like. The carpenter kept highlighting that the stuff inside the console will be visible from the front. I was quite concerned about this as I don't know if it will look ugly if all the electronic gadgets were to be visible. We could go for black mirror, but that would means always having to open the console if we want to use the remote. That might be quite a hassle and danger as we might knock into them. Hence, we went for the black clear glass with crossed fingers. For the design wise, we also had to change it. Instead of having a full piece of glass infront, we'll have the glass in the centre. The common practise to do flap-down console was to do a 45degree on the console flap for our fingers to open the console. But by doing so, the center black glass will be 'smaller' as allowance need to be given for the top section wood. Hence, hb suggested to make the flap all the way and skip the 45degree. Slightly more difficult to open the console but we thought should be ok since we only need to open when we need to add new gadget or to clean it. For the laminates, we thought of topping up to use those solid core laminates to avoid those black line at the joints. Both my contractor and carpenter advise us against using those solid core as they don't think it worthwhile to top for them. Besides the sides of those solid core are yellow and not truely white. Hence, we decided to use the normal white gloss laminates and my carpentry will dot off those black lines. Really crossing all our fingers for our console since the day we confirmed the design. After the installation, we are glad that it turned out ok. Here's the pics~ hee.. The console before installation. Here's the side view of the console. Hee.. the carpenters managed to install it with my huge mountain infront. I also don't know how they managed to do it. 3 hinges per flap. Quite ok when we flap them. Hole opened for future subwoofer. The corner of the console that are being 'dotted' off with white 'paint'.

Hi Amrasenelya, The plumbers are quite ok. They will wrapped up all the taps, w.c. and basins after the installation at the bathrooms. Quite nice worker also.

Updates on Kitchen sink: The plumber came to install the kitchen sink the following day after the granite top was installed. He was very careful with the installation. To ensure that the silicon will be applied nicely, he spent sometime 'tape-ing' the granite top and the sink to 'outline' the area. Afterwhich, he first installed the tap onto the sink. And he starts to apply the silicon. Very neat workmanship. Hee.. Here's the pics.. This is how the plumber taped the sink & surrounding granite top. Very close gap between the tape, so as to ensure that the silicon doesn't go 'out of line' and dirty the granite top. This is after the silicon have been applied. Quite neat. Here's my simple kitchen sink. Hee..

Hey Newnyew, Nice nice island. I like your island. Most of the kitchen with island look pretty crampy. Yours look quite spacious with the open concept. Very Think the island will be very useful when you do your baking. Hee.. your stove also look really chio. The chio stove + phantom chairs for the island = very niceee. Very good combination.
  18. Hi Forkie, Yes. I called Richard that time.
  19. Hi Forkie, We used the helping hands to move just 1 sofa, 1 bedframe 1 queensize mattress to my mum place. Quite nice service and they wrapped all the furnitures before moving. I called several movers but most of them charged by per lorry kinda. But helping hands quote me on the items that Im moving. Hence, much cheaper than the rest. Sorry, I don't have the contacts with me now. I got their numbers from their website. You might want to try them. By the way, nice sofa combination and the colours look good together with the console.
  20. Good Morning Newnyew, Your kitchen very niceee! hee.. I like your island and those phantom chairs. Are you using government gas/ cylinder gas? I guess its govt. gas. But I wonder where does your gas pipes go? Very symmetrical kitchen. Are you having all drawers? Noticed that the top row drawers (below the worktop) are quite shallow. Are you having them all for your cutleries? Thats alot of them. Hee.. Lastly.... I think you might be the only one here who have an aircon in the kitchen.
  21. Hi Newnyew, For my wardrobe, we also found that there is 2 drawers which are also quite hard to pull out (comparing against the rest other drawers which are smooth). Hb feedbacked to our contractor who got the carpenter down to look at it. My hb was around when they came up to fix it. The carpenter told hb that its due to the sides of the drawers being uneven, hence the drawers are kinda stuck. So he aligned the sides of the drawers and its ok. You might want to explore that area for the drawers.

Hi ledd_777, My hb had checked on our quote, $10k is about there if you include hacking of current kitchen, laying new floor & wall tiles, waterproofing, plumbing, kitchen cabinet, granite top and the electrical/light points. However, you might have to take into consider your kitchen area, cabinet length as well as the material that you intend to use (e.g. solid surface/granite/quartz worktop).
