Err.. we didnt buy from RF. We wanted to get from RF very much after reading so much about it, even went there twice. But most of the stuffs are based on catalog which we cant really put them together to try out the effects. And most importantly, RF told us that their wc+basin promo had already ended during our 2nd visit. End up we got our stuff from another shop and prices are close. Hope they will be good also. *pray pray*

Hi Ripples, Nice doors and window. Did you chose silver frame and light grey window? Hee.. my hb chose that combine and I was still worried, it might look weird. Now that I saw your window, I think it look pretty nice. Hee..

Yah, we also thought the slow cooker look cool. Hee.. I had posted the picture of those lights, bathroom stuff, heater and aircon already. Hee.. ummm.. i seems to have missed out the sofa picture. Hee.. I post tonight, cause today on half day leave. Going back soon.

Er.. i don't know the damage, need to check with my hb. Which item you want to know? Actually not alot, most are just simple stuff and I happen to post them all at 1 go, so seems like alot.

Last but no least... our aircon. We went at least 3 times to ask about it and wanted to wait for promotion initially. But Hb decided to confirm it before the renovation starts so that we don't have to rush down to confirm later. We went for toshiba inverter system 2 aircon, though we wasn't heavy user of the aircon. The saleman kept promoting the non-inverter's saving after hearing that we are non-heavy user. However, Hb was pretty fixed on inverter as the noise from our current non-inverter compressor is really loud each time it kick start the compressor. And we read that the gas of non-inverter might obsolete in future. We went for 13K btu for mbr and 10K btu for the other room. I know nuts about this. Its hb who researched on it and decided on the brand and the btu thingy. Hee..

For the kitchen sink, we wanted to go for 2 bowls (1big, 1small) initially so that we can put the sponge/ detergent etc at the smaller bowl. But later we found that the depth of the smaller bowl is pretty short and somehow felt that its pretty space consuming. So we decided to go for single bowl one where we can 'stick' the sponge holder at 1 side and put the rack for drying the dishes. We went to quite a number of places to look the right size as we wanted one which is around 750-800 but most of them are either in the 500's/600's/850+. We saw 1 amasco sink which is exactly 800 but its a display set which sit outside the shop. I was worried about its condition as its under the sun/rain daily, so didnt went for it though the owner gave some discount. Finally, we found one which is 790 by 490 but made in TW. Not sure if its good. But HB said should be ok, so we bought it with a simple looking tap. a) Kitchen sink with the add-on basket b) Kitchen tap

And for the w.c. , we went for casanova (or magnum) ones. We bought the lower back ones. Didnt took a picture of it as most of the w.c. are removed from the shops due to the new govt. regulation about displaying the water efficiency for all the taps & w.c, starting 1/Jul. I managed to find a picture from the net which look alike to them.

Hee.. I thought it look pretty penquin to me... my penquin shower head.

Here's the water heaters. We are installing the storage heater for the mbr bathroom and instant heater for the common bathroom. I think most people who install storage heater will share it among both toilets. So the shops that we shopped were kinda of surprised that we going to get one each. Hee.. a) Common bathroom instant heater Hb decided on this heater as it uses the new quartz heating system and it allows the users to choose a range of temperature, unlike the usual kind which only have low, middle and high. I am bad with technical stuff but I thought it look sleek, so its a go for me. Hee.. we selected silver colour for it. It has another model which is black in colour with gloss look. Very modern looking and look like a art piece in the bathroom. Good for those with black bathroom. We also got it at $238 though most shops are retailing at a promo for $268 (usual price $299). b) Mbr storage heater We went for Joven 35litres horizontal tank as the inner layer of Joven is stainless stain. Our current one is a Rheem which is good also. But its price is much higher than Joven so decided to try Joven. c) Mbr shower set Initially wanted to go for rain shower, but read some comments about its functionality and low water pressre issue. The practical side of us decided to forgo it. So we decided to go for those sleek squarish looking shower set. But end up, we bought this shower head which is nowhere near squarish. 2 factors brought us to buy this shower head. 1st concern was whether the water flow from the small squarish shower head going be very 'small area'. 2nd factor was this shower head was pretty interesting as it can change the water pattern into 3-4 different kinds and 1 of them is a mist effect. Hee.. shop owner was saying his kids spend another 5 more mins in the shower to play with the water pattern. hee.. hb told me later that he was sold on this sentence as he thought the kiddo side of me will love to play with it.

For the common bathroom, the items are more squarish. We didnt plan for it but halfway during selection, found that half of its items are square square. So decide to go for all squarish. Initial plan was to go for the squarish things for mbr bathrm, but didn't materialise as the shower set and basin tap are both roundish. So change the mbr concept to roundish instead. a) Common bathroom basin This basin was a package that came with the w.c. Didnt have much choice for the package, only 4 basins (3 of it are having the same look which is this look but different sizes). But we guess it look ok, not too bad a choice from a package. b) Common bathroom tap A squarish tap to match the square shaped basin. c) Common bathroom toilet roll holder Squarish looking too. We didnt get any holder for the mbr as we thought of recycling the current one. And happen so that our current mbr vertical holder is also roundish. Seems fated that our mbr is roundish. d) Common bathroom rack We bought the middle one with 4 knobs. This looks slightly roundish to me. Hee.. was thinking too much squarish might bore the user. So mixed this into the common bathroom.

We also bought simple stuff for our bathrooms. hope they turn out ok. a) Mbr basin b) Mbr basin tap Hb had a hard time trying to find a tap to match the basin as the tap position on bracket for the clear glass basin is quite a distance from the basin. So most of the taps cant match it as the water will be dripping at the edge of the basin. RF kept insisting that 'waterfall' tap look best and matches best with this basin. But we didnt want to go for the waterfall tap as there are some writings about the maintenance of it. In the end, we went for this where the water angle and the protruding distance of the tap seems ok. Hope it turns out well. c) Mbr glass shelf As we are mounting the basin at a corner, we went for this corner glass shelf to put the toothpaste, daily facial wash and the handwash soap. Oops... I just realised I forgot to take a picture of the towel rack for mbr.

We also bought 2 Amasco 50" fan with light kit and fan regulator for our living area and mbr. Chosen white for both so that it can hide with the ceiling colour.
-
Here's the pics of our simple lights. Didn't buy any downlights as we are not doing any false ceiling. Just plain plain simple lights. 1) Our bedrooms lights 2) Living light 3) kitchen light 4) Walkway and recess area light (seems to look big on the pic, but its actually mini size)

Hi forkie, Nice room doors. We are also looking for such doors. Wanted to go for nyatoh doors but we was told by alot of renovators that such design only available for veneer doors. So we went for veneer doors but read about its lightness which make me kinda worried. Your Nyatoh doors really surprises me. If you don't mind, can share the door code and cost with me?

Hi Poseidon_gal, Nice pics of your renovated house. Got the clean look. Is your house handover already? Seems like quite completed. Do share more picture.

hee.. thats a cool idea. Think Japan also have services where the customer pay to hit some machine or something to relief stress. Maybe we can start such a service in singapore, definitely will beat Japan's one. Cause this is really hand-ons.. not some technical stuff. Hee..

Hee.. long time no update again... nearly cant find my blog. Past 2 weeks, we settled and bought the below items: a) our simple lights, b) ceiling fans, c) bathroom sinks, taps, shower set, w.c. and accessories, d) kitchen sinks & taps, e) instant & storage heater, f) aircon, and g) sofa. Hee.. is there anything that we missed out?

I see i see. Thanks for sharing. Guess prolly tell him to break 1 tile on the first day, before the worker start their actions. hee..
-
Actually I also wanted to ask about this. What does the owner suppose to do on the 1st day of hacking? The symbolic hacking... does it mean that my hb just break one of the tiles at the kitchen, will do? No need to pray pray right?

Hi Adrain, Nice drawing. You really draw well. I think your layout is good, except that its going to be very cramp, esp. after you mention about the foldable bed. You might want to consider doing the wardrobe along the wall (meaning L towards the bed), taking out the wiw concept. Just my thoughts as I think the room too crampy with too much 'idea' / 'features' in a single room.

Hi F4, Saw your pool. Look very cute and the design you chosen is nice. I wonder if your balcony need waterproofing? Will the water splashing out of the pool seeps through to your neighbour below and they will get you got to fix it? Just a thought that came to me when I saw the pool, cause I remember reading someone's blog who initially wanted to install a jacuzzi at her balcony and her checks concluded someway about waterproofing the balcony. Cant recall the full details, must be getting old.

Good Morning, Pink Congrats!!! Great to read that your letter finally arrived. Hee.. I think we will start bugging HDB to expediate the process soon. Their process so 'fast' one ah.. 2months to get the first letter.. then I think my house reno over by then. That means I need to clean up again during the recess area reno.. *fainted.. think really must go bug them already.

Hi pinkpetter, We also submitted our application for purchase of the recess area around 25th June. Til date, no sound no picture. HB went down to check with branch office and they told us its a very looong process. The process advised was as follows: 1) They will send us the letter to confirm the purchase and ask for the layout (to shift those meter stuff). 2) After we revert about the layout, they will check if its acceptable and if so, they will send us another letter to tell us to shift the things according to the layout submitted. 3) Then we can get the electrician to shift the meter. After which, we need to inform them that the shifting is completed, then they will send their TO down to check. 4) After their TO checked and its correct, then they will send another letter to confirm the shift and then advise on the purchase. 5) Only after the purchase is completed and they send us the letter to confirm, then we are allow to erect the wall and door to seal up the area that we purchased. And only then can we do the floor tiling of the recess area and any carpentry for that area. Just hearing those from my hb, I already feel like fainting. Need so many replies (letters) from HDB and each one takes so long to arrive. I have not received my first letter after 3weeks of waiting, maybe need to email them to rush already? No wonder my contractor told us that he expects to come back again after the whole reno is completed to fix up the recess area.

Hihi XBB, I see I see. I think I will take leave on the first day to look around. Hee.. Now that you mention, I guess we will have to confirm our sanitary stuff soon. Thanks for the reminder. Good to hear that Henry is responsible and responsive. Both of us are not good with details. Its going to be good for us if Henry have high standards. Then we don't have to stress too much. Hee..
