Do You Keep Your Appliances In The House During Reno?
jaskel replied to mybearbrick's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I feel that good and responsible contractor will let help u ensure all the items are safe and sound. I left my new TV, new fridge and new soundbar inside the house during reno and everything were not damage, loss or being used when I moved in. So if you trust your contractor, let him know these items are inside your house and he got to look. after it. -
Under the lease, lessees are responsible to repair any maintenance faults within their flat, including repairs to spalling concrete. So either u ask the seller to pay for the repair cost or u got to fork out the money yourself.

Hi lowmy2005, had I PM u the contact? -
Is this a new flat? If not....from HDB, Spalling concrete is a common surface maintenance problem especially in older buildings. It is largely due to a natural deterioration process called carbonation. Under the lease, lessees are responsible to repair any maintenance faults within their flat, including repairs to spalling concrete. This service package gives flat owners information on the likely cause of spalling concrete, repair method, List of Spalling Concrete Repair Contractors and the recommended charges for spalling concrete repairs. For spalling concrete without symptoms of ceiling leak, flat owners are to arrange for own repair works at own costs.

Ikea got those nice arm chair that cost less than $100. I brought 1 at $98, easy to install. But previous high back rest arm chair that I got from warehouse @ $75 is quite hard to install.

It really subjective, depend on the workers they used (their workmanship and experience, most importantly their work attitude) We can't rush them, if not they anyhow do or cut corner or make mistakes, this will take u more time, more headache, more heart pain.

For flooring and wall, maybe u can try doing spray paint or sediment flooring which take 2-3 days or even less than that. As for kitchen cabinet, it really depend on the planning of the contractor. He/She can plan like this, go on-site to take measurement first, do up the cabinets in their factory already fix a date when they can install it. Then the contractor should arrange the hacking to come a day earlier to hack and disposal of the old cabinets.(another 2-5 days works or lesser) Maybe becos of the profit margin is not that much, they will prefer to send more time taking in other projects than to do this small project. But still there maybe some will take in such small project. Don't worry, the forum here got a lot of great helps in finding the rite person for your reno.

Should All Types Of New Types Be Soaked Before Tiling Work Begins?
jaskel replied to DL838's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
No all tiles needed to soak but around 50% of the tiles in the market, needed to soak with water. For experience tilers, they know how to differential those tiles needed to soak water or not, by splashing some water on the tiles and see how fast or slow the water dry up. The reason for soaking water was that if the tiles are those type absorb water quickly when placed onto the cement, it will absorb the water from the cement which made the tiles and the cement would stick together, and sooner or later, the tiles will popped out. This my 2cents of knowledge on tiles. -
Hi LittleDreamer, I'm doing whole house using Blum system so I do not know the break down for the kitchen. My contractor just passed me the invoice from the Blum and I paid for it.

If u renovating your house, I think ask the ID or contractor able to quote u cheaper not. Although I do know where can get cheap marble tiles, but if house owner do not know how to see the different between marble and 80% compressed marble, u may get cheated. So go for a reliable and honest contractor better.

Hi tobee, Have the job completed? For $381 pfr for your kitchen cabinets, it really really very expensive. U can't sue them due to the black and white didn't stated the brand of the solid top. If u can, record it down while you talk to him, best is the topic on the brand of the solid top suppose to be install. He must state that he change it to 3S which is different from what suppose to be - Cresto, then u got chance on your case. Is the company Case Trust?
-
Hi Mimi, So u had started reno?
-
New, give u this for your new house...
-
I do understand the lighting shops at balester rd maybe quite ex compare to other ulu ulu shops.

3S is made from China, so it much cheaper than Cresto and your ID actually earn much more if quote you for Cresto but using 3S. Cresto is a registered product and it got 10yrs warranty. Normally, contractor don't indicate the thickness of the materials used in the contract so as to win the customers over to their nice and cheap quotation, after sign then they use those cheap and less quality material . Good and honest contractor is really hard to find nowsaday. My advise is, u got to be firm on your ID. Can I see your quotation too?
