  1. Buy a glossy laminate (8Ft by 4 Ft) from supplier, cut it yourself and paste it to act as a backsplash. Buy a stainless steel sheet from supplier, paste it at the hob area. This is the cheapest option u can DIY.
  2. It depending on how u rate yourself. Eg. $100 per day + $60 for the paint + $20 for the tools. You want to do it yourself or let them do it? Calculate this way and u can gauge whether your ID quote you is fair not.
  3. Hi Smallcarrot, U need to give more information so that others can help or give suggestion.
  4. HDB requirement for fire-rated door is min. 30mins. There are few types of material that can be used for fire-rated door. U can check my T-blog also for my fire-rated door. Must remember, all fire-rated door got the PSB test certified metal plate at the side door.
  5. Ya lor, neighbour wanted to do so I try to source for him lor. U can drop by anytime.
  6. He/She is referring to eg, like u got into a car accident with a taxi, the taxi driver will claim lost of income from u or insurance while the taxi is undergoing repair.
  7. So what actions did your contractor do? The contractor got to be 100% responsible for that and have to rectify until problem solve but claim lost of use from them is a bit hard unless u want to send them lawyer's letter. If water proofing not done properly, may it be the whole toilet flooring or up to the min. required height of the wall, leaking to lower unit is only sooner or later. The most is HDB deduct some points and a fine on the company if received a formal complaint. U should continue using the toilet so as to test it is really rectified.
  8. In case some of the newbies did not know. I had engaged an HDB registered renovation contractors to renovate my flats. Can HDB help me to resolve my dispute with the contractor on pricing, delay in work or poor workmanship, etc.? HDB Registered Renovation Contractors' Scheme (RRCS) was introduced to regulate the activities of the renovation contractors to ensure the structural integrity of HDB buildings, a safe living environment and minimal unsightly alteration to the form of HDB buildings when carrying out renovation works in HDB flats. Where there is a dispute between the flat owner and his renovation contractor on the pricing, work schedule, type and quality of the renovation works, both parties will have to resolve the matter between themselves as such matters relate to the contract signed between the flat owner and the renovation contractor. If the flat owner and the renovation contractor cannot settle the dispute amicably, both parties could seek assistance through the Small Claims Tribunal or seek legal redress through court proceedings. Thanks ncy, I forgot to add in this also. HDB's disclaimer: Disclaimer:- HDB makes no representations whatsoever and shall in no way be responsible for the quality of the workmanship of these registered renovation contractors, the materials used by them in their renovation works, their financial status, etc. Renovation contracts entered between the flat owner and the registered renovation contractor are strictly a private matter and HDB is not privy to them.
  9. Hmmm....might I say something? Personal issues, pls PM each other and solve it out peacefully, posting here is not nice at all and whoever win or loss, it doesn't reflect well on either side. After my last posted, I tot that everything will go back to where it was......to help other newbies or forumers who want to engage on Ah Soon to look thru the pros and cons of this contractor whether they can accept it or not, ultimately its their choice in the end. Pls, don't make it so ugly. Be focus....what is the intentions of starting up this forum --- to help others not for Badmouthing, Slandering and Personal Attacks of others. Thanks. I love this forum is because is really useful and there are always good advises for the helpless one and I hope it will keep on continue on it. Sorry for my broken english...not good at it....just from my heart and it really heart pain to see it like never ending issues here.
  10. Hi Joemit7850, Had PMed you the contact. Good to know of a part time neighbour here.
  11. If u don't mind google 3D sketch up, I might do it for u.
  12. Is there a different for engaging a registered or non registered HDB contractor? To me there isn't much different. What's are the pro's and con's? Both registered or non registered HDB contractors have their own pro's and con's. Not nice to lists it out here too as this thread is suppose to be on Uncle Soon. But newbies don't worry on even engaging a non registered HDB contractor. There are always bad sheep in every trade, regardless on registered or non registered contractor.
