Hi fondue, yap, xvirusga = amk ivy one qn, cant recall your floor tiles for your kitchen, are they matt or gloss and off whitE?? we went to choose tiles today, hubby chose black matt tile for kitchen floor, but we wanted to keep kitchen pure, high gloss white for the cabinets, so now hesitating if we choose correct color for the floor in kitchen. could you also pm me your fotos for your mbr toilet too! thanks!

fondue! omg! i was definitely drooling at your WIW when we were at your place! its really really huge! gosh..! *envy*.. renovations pretty well done actually, carpentry is above my mark actually, so *phew* i am rather relieved. btw, i think you are right abt the hinges of your kitchen cabinets rather stiff, we had to use *bull strength* too. one qn, did you choose a high gloss white laminate for your kitchen ? and i mus say.. maybe i am alittle suay ku.. the new bi-fold door system at your toilets kinda impressed me i'll get this as well vs frosted glass.. thanks family of 4 one question to ask all of you on your opinions of open concept kitchens... how bad does it smell for the sofas, and the whole house,? toying with the idea, but dare not to take the risk... but visualize that its better for my super active kids and nieces and nephews who will definitely be bunking over my place during holidays.. (my orginal idea was to partition the dining/living with the glass door) to make the super small house look bigger, but had a horrible experience when i saw my cousin running THRU the GLASS DOOR when he was too urgent when he was a kid)..

thots after quotations met up with Uncle Ah Soon last nite for the first quotation, and it came up to 27K, haiz. We were hopping to do it below 20k for a 3rm..thou. In the end, we had to cut certain items on the spot, and i soon realised that it got further and further from my dream place. To cut cost, had to settle for the normal L-Box, instead of cove lite or someting for both living/dining/MBR, cant have wallpapers and mirrors as it will jerk up the quotes. As minutes past, it drifted further and further away from what i initially planned. still struggling with the disappointments, but i guess in life we cant have the best of both worlds. in the end, we reduced it to 22K. now i have to re-adjust and re-design the place accordingly. kind uncle suggested ways to cut costs, but my heart sank deeper and deeper.. any ideas wat color we have for the panel of wall behind the tv console? inital idea was black/white.. but along the way now, have to change, since cant have wallpaper for that panel, have to think of nice bright colors to spruce up the black/white furniture we bought. (i love the black/white/green concept by klipp-klapp) or those modern retro look. sob...

Ah Soon uncle says he has 4 ivy's on hand nw, very confusing, as he cant recogn voices. ahahah. so i have to say i am the 418 AMK ivy.. did you managed to check with him if you can do this strip wall? i am also rather interested to do so for whole house (different cotton candy colors for diff room ) as dun have budget to do wallpaper or anything fanciful.

wwow!.. thanks everyone, i needed some advises along the way, ya., thatz why i was so shocked, so after sERRIOUs consideration, i told my agent NEGATive, i cant afford to take any risks nw..esp i have such tight timeline, having the house done up by june is good as its school hols, dun hv to rush home to teaach my kid,hahah... and i dun wan delays and complications in july, so near to kao ying, so...hv to be alittle mean.. but, anyhows, thanks to all for your rooting! nw i am eagerly waiting for my quotation from uncle, hope all is well.. only thing he told me is,,, "dun pin too high hopes on hacking and combining both toilets".. sad.. resigned to small toilets..where i can hardly move..hahah...

actually with regards to the seller wanting to extend their stay, well, its bloggers world here, so i dun wana sound racist, but we were given the impression that they wanted to sell the house eagerly, coz they have a new 5room flat waiting for them initially and the seller is a P.R, so he also wants to sell eagerly, so i agreed to paid deposit of 5k, give high valuation, seller also insisted that he wanted to move out asap, etc. hence when hdb officer appointed 13th may for second appt, both sides agreed readily, as i as have a time line, getting remarried again in 3mths time, got to be ready by then. however, when i asked if we can bring our contractors to go measure the house before they hand the keys, they say OK on the condition, that, they can stay over 3 more days, but continue to go down to hdb to sign the necessary papers on 13th officially, but .. only give us the keys on 16th, what i am afraid is, come 16th may, they tell us another story, and try to extend their stay again, lorz.. the first story doesnt gel with the second story, i am only afraid, that, there are really strange people around, and if anything happens, with the 3days of overstay, i hv to bare all the consequences. sorry to blast it here, but just need some opinions, dan decide carefully. again, i do not mean to sound racist, so no offence to anyone.

Hi Roamca wow! ave 3, 3room+utilty at 310k!!! wow , here i was complaining mine at ave 10, 3room+utlity at 282k very ex liaoz.. so afraid next time if i upgrade in five years time cant get the value i wan, my reno i hope to keep within 20k lorz, excluding furniture and fittings. did you mention to combine both toilets?? i wanted too, was advised not to pin too high hopes, so small and tiny the toilets, me also on the bigger side, 1.7m tall, and more medium build, go into MBR toilet no space to turn! utility room aslo duno wan to spend money coz i dun like the flooring given by hbd.. heee.

Hi Merryman, i must say, the 3NG flats in AMK are really really small, and so are the miserable tiny toilets. Ah Soon uncle commented that its pretty difficult to get "pass" for combining the two toilets together.. so.. Sob sob. there goes my dream of a nice big toilet. and the utility rooms, duno wat to do with it, dun wan to turn it into store room, such a waste (coz i hv to pay $9k plus for the upgrade)

actually, seller also agrees with HDB on 13th May for handover, but SUDDENLY, tells agent to ask us to delay the keys till 16th, which i'm afraid will have implications as we are due to received the invoice from HDB anytime in may, worries is what happens when we do receive during the 14th - 16th period when he physically hands over keys.

Ok, latest updates, i finally managed to meet up with the Legenary Ah Soon uncle, whom, i feel, is rather fatherly. He has a very good grasps of his market industry, somewhat way better than those IDs i feel. He did provide me very good and practical solutions to my SMALL flat, and i am definitely eager to see his quotations. *crossing my fingers and toes* that the price is definitely more affordable than those i received so far. For those looking around, he is indeed VERY busy, as his mobile rings no stop at 11pm!! many many thanks to Pink Petter! thanks for your recommendations. I'll keep everyone updated. one question to all forummers, my current seller has SUDDENLY proposed to extend their handover keys process from 13th May to 16th MAy, should we comply?? just afraid there will be complications later. (my official date is 13th May - as per HDB letter). thanks.

Hi Everyone, i've been actively reading up this forum ever since i eyed on my unit 2 months back. finally after 2 months of ding-donging, i attended my first virgin trip to HDB! cant wait to collect my keys next month. prices for a 3NG resale for AMK is really ex, so i finally settled down on this unit together with my 9year old son. contractors/ I.D hunting aint fun, and its rather tedious, i end up toking about the same stuff to about 4 and i am already tired. think i sound like a broken recorder. prices quoted are so exxxx and the highest was $43k for a mere 73sqm flat lorx. so i'll hv to abort all the I.D's and go through for a contractor (hope it saves some cash), since economy is really bad. my budgt for the reno plus furnishings is only $20k. oh ya..hahaah, and to be really honest, i got so excited , i have already bought a substantial no of furniture from Winter at IFC Sungei Kadut! Total damage $4.4k Includes:- 1) Sofa 2) Side table 3) Black top dining table 4) 4 White leather chairs 5) my most fav of all, a white tv console that comes with nice feature wall behind! My best friend was like laughing at me, so typical kan cheong Hence, i tink my renovation should be cheaper, reallywould appreciate if you can throw in some good reliable names to choose from. hope to hear from all!
