Really Need Help On This, Type Of Walls Etc.
sohck replied to simonang29's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I think glass is more expensive. But it will be nice and bright for your study room. A friend of mine just reno his office - every piece of tempered glass is around $1K. If your wall is long you will need a few pieces of the tempered glass. Best to ask a contractor to quote you so that you get the actual cost. -
From to The shelf at bedroom 3 has been hacked.

For those constructing walls, this is how "63mm hollow blocks" look like.

All the raw material for the house renovation is here, time to make the second payment of 30% / 40%!

This picture was found behind the feature wall in the living area. Some kind of treasure map?

Hi Reiki, Actually I am not keeping the hob, just not sure why the workers still left it there. Can't be for their own use, right?
-
The sand is in the master bedroom.

Bedroom 2 (study) after hacking. The chair from the master bedroom has been shifted here The ceramic tiles are laid by the first owner. The previous owner has overlaid the ceramic tiles with laminates. We are going to do the same.
-
The common toilet after hacking. It took the Bangalah less than an hour to hack a new opening for the door (left of picture), and that cost me $80.
-
The kitchen after the hacking. The two pipes at the far end will be boxed up, together with some storage space for mop and vaccum cleaner. The black box on the left is the hob left by the previous owner. Rubbish chute at far right will be replaced by a new one, and the position moved up slightly.

We are also into second day of tiling - so you have caught up as I believe I started the hacking before you. My aircon is system-3 le, yours the same too? I got my aircon from my ID as the three shops we approached at IMM all cannot do the installation until end of month. As we are not sure when we need to do the trunking, we have decided not to take a risk (delaying the renovation) and go with our ID instead. In fact, I believe Gain City quoted us $2,650 but won't be able to do the installation until 30 Jun. Anyway, I will check with my ID on where he gets the aircon from and pass it to you later. No harm getting an additional quote.

Big mass at the living area:

Yesterday we went to the new flat to meet the master tiler. The master tiler, a Malaysian, double-checked with us how he would lay all the tiles. Another three workers will be there tomorrow to help him. Basically the hacking is more or less done, the workers were clearing the debris while we were there. Old laminate flooring has been cleared, air-con disposed. The tiles, rubbish chute, cement and sand are all there. So ID asked us for the next payment, either a 30% or 40% (we paid 20% when we signed the contract). Will be posting some pictures soon.

Baroque's workmanship is quite good - I checked out one of their completed project at Strathmore area. Price is a little bit steep, but not overly expensive. Go with them if you are happy with the price and design.

Hi matchgirl, Not sure if our quotations are useful for you - we all have different requirements and our houses are all different. Wouldn't it be easier for you to post your quotation for the forumers here to help you out? Innerview at IMM? I came across them when I was searching for an ID - found them quite professional and good. But didn't go with them because they could not get an existing project for me to see. Think their business not very good during this time.

Great. Let us know if the solar film can effectively block off the heat and light. When do you intend to do the installation?
-
Well, hard to get cheap and good ones
-
I can think of two good ones: Pergo and Supreme are examples of good laminate, Pergo being European and Supreme local.

Hi, we are shifting to Delta Ave late July / early August. As my entire family (wife, son and daughter and myself) all enjoy playing table tennis, we would like to continue playing table tennis after we have shifted. Currently we play table tennis on the table found at the void deck of one of the HDB block. Does anybody know where I can find table tennis around Tiong Bahru area?

Andy is one of the shortlisted ID for me. I find him very professional, and fast with his quotations. I have not met Mike so I can't comment on him. -

No point asking for freebies lah. There are only very few things that are free in this world. The cost of the freebies must come from somewhere. Ask them to give you cash discount instead. Between Baroque and ClassicIdea I will recommend you to go with Baroque. Their quotations are quite clear and turnaround quite fast. I have also checked their workmanship - the tiling and carpentry are among the best I have seen. -
Yes, you could either seal up the gap with wood or even construct something there, eg cabinet, feature wall (not cheaper than sealing up with concrete). Check with a contractor for price.
