  1. Welcome PiggyBear. Congrats on your new home. I am moving to Delta Ave, just walking distance to where your house is. Let's keep in touch!
  2. My flat started the hacking one day earlier than forkie's, but he is now well ahead of me. Mine has only completed tiling, electrical and plumbing, and now starting the carpentry. We can't find the solid top we want, and so have to wait for a week for the distributor to make our color. So guess it won't finish by month end and will spill into August. blue_diamond, how far has your reno gone?
  3. HDB cannot hide pipeing in the wall. The only wall to hide is to box it up. But if you do that, then the toilet will become even smaller :-( I took out all the box in my resale and suddenly the MBR toilet is 20% larger!
  4. I have the same problem as you. The space for the basin at the common toilet for me is only 15 inch by 60 inch. If I can't find anything, might end up with the same basin as you.
  5. New rubbish chute. The location of the old rubbish chute was too low so I have asked ID to shift it slightly higher.
  6. Go for undermount lah. My own place 10 years, changed silicon three times, but still the same old sink. In fact still pretty good condition I think can use another ten years. My mum old flat, sink used for 30 years, tarnished but still useable. The problem with the silicon is that it will become black after some time, very very ugly.
  7. I have to seriously consider the grille. My windows at the balcony is quite low, less than 1m. After adding in the platform, it will be like 90cm. So it's risky to have any kids taller than 1.3m 1.4m to be around there. Moreover, I don't have air con at the living area. But fortunately we don't have many visitors. So see how it goes lah. But I got a feeling we will have to put it up sooner or later.
  8. Thanks for the advice.
  9. Same problem here. My mum pressurizing us on the grilles, but we have been resisting. Not sure who will win at the end, though :-(
  10. I really like your bathroom, very rustic look. Going to get the 707 too, but can't decide between the alphine or protek. Where did you get it from for $165? I have been asking around at Jalan Besar and the lowest quote I have is $190.
  11. In that case, the beam positions could be different. My master bedroom and bedroom 3 have basically no beams. All the beams are in bedroom 2. In fact, every wall has a beam for my bedroom 2. I will try to take some pictures too to show you. You are also welcome to visit my place if you want to take a look.
  12. Yes, I think the flame is quite fascinating - goes around like a tornado, hence the name.
  13. It was taken on Tuesday when it was raining. But Singapore has been quite misty lately too.
  14. Quite cheap leh. I saw one small one at Jalan Besar, asking for $138. If buy together with toilet bowl can reduce to $99.
  15. Current: Exec condo 1195 square feet @ Simei Moving to: 5 rm HDB 119 square metre @ Delta Ave (same as cyprusblade)
  16. Yes, in fact everything is the same except for the balcony. I have the added headache because my balcony is round. Do you have a lot of beams in bedroom 2? My ceiling at bedroom 2 is 2.47m but the height from floor to beam is 2.15m. As a result, I have to give up the full height cabinet at v.Hive (2.4m) and have to go for the half-height one (85cm). My other problem is that the height from floor to windows at balcony is less than 1m. Because of that I have to give up my balcony (4-inch). What is the length from floor to windows at your balcony?
  17. The view from the balcony without the grilles and window panes is stunning: Compared with previously:
  18. Share with you my statistics: Signed the option to buy the resale flat in Mar. First appointment was mid-Apr. Second appontment was early-June. Started looking for ID the day after signing the option. Till second appointment spoke/visited some 20 IDs/contractors, out of which received 15 quotations. I think it is never too early to start looking. It took me 4 to 5 meetings before I have the feel to know what I want for the reno.
  19. That is a very good idea stormcontrol. Will discuss with ID this Thursday.
  20. Hi beany0811, older HDB flats all have uneven ceilings. You can patch it with plaster. And yes, depending on the condition of the ceiling, you could lose a few cm.
  21. View from the bedroom is very good! We have the same window panes. Will put up the photos tonight.
  22. Thanks. Our basin area is quite small, we wanted a basin which is very deep so the chance of water getting to the floor is lower. Because of the square basins in the kitchen we are also choosing square basins for our two bathrooms (porcelin type).
