Actually we also don't like to clean the floor. My wife only clean the floor once a week on Sunday. But we wanted the study room to be bright so we have painted the wall white and chose a whitish floor. But I have bought the iRobot for the new house. That robot can help us clean the house.

Same here, regret not picking zebrano for the other two rooms. But will be using the same laminate for the cozy corner at the living area. Post pictures when it is done.

Singapore roads are full of humps, so is my house. This is the "hump" to cross-over from the bedroom to the living area.
-
Bedroom 3 also uses Pearl Ash.
-
Bedroom 2. Colour of laminate is Peal Ash but using the same skirting as MBR.

Actually got more pictures. This morning left home hurriedly for a meeting. Later when I reach home will post the laminate for the other two bedrooms (different design).

Hi joseeng, 1. We decided on Supreme laminate before we decided on the ID. The Supreme guy told us that he could work with our ID/contractors and that he is giving us a price that we can't get from contractor, if we agree not to share the price with other people. Also, [at that time when we signed up, things might be different now] you could not get lifetime warranty from Supreme unless you signed directly with them. You get only 15 years warranty if you purchase Supreme AC5 through an ID/contractor. On hindsight, it is better to get the laminate through the ID/contractor. This way, you won't have to worry about the workers damaging the laminate (since the ID/contractor) has the responsiblity of ensuring everything is perfect during handover. Moreover, the part about better price than getting from ID/contractors is probably not true. 2. If you are mainly doing carpentry, it is worthwhile considering a contractor that has a carpentry factory. I have a contact that I can PM you later (don't have it with me yet).

Ok, the laminate flooring is up! The Supreme guy did a good job in installing the laminate flooring. He took pain to stagger the laminate, so the patterns on the laminate looks a little more unpredictable. Unfortunately the painter and electrician were in on Saturday and they dirtied the floor, leaving lots of footprints so it is hard to check if there are scratches. Here's the master bedroom

forkie, I like your doors! Mine is customed made with laminate not sure how it will turn out.
-
Read your blog, solar film not cheap leh! Think I will just do the part that is facing the west - and leave the rest alone to save some money.

Thank for the reminder. I will ask them for it when I hand them the cheque.

Is Painting Of 3 Bedroom Door And 1 Main Door $180 Xpensive?
sohck replied to cutecuteboy's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
For $180 why don't you do it yourself? Painting door is not as shiong as painting ceiling, and since there are only 4 doors, you can finish it within a day at most. -
Hi fatmian, Fire-rated door is not cheap, why do you want to change it. My resale's main door is also in very bad condition (look wise), what we did was to ask the ID to modify it with laminate. It is not done yet so I can't show you how it looks like, but just want to let you know that it can be done and it will be much cheaper than changing a new door.

I like your MBR toilet. Wanted to do something similar but my wife had other ideas....
-
Your wiring will be okay since you will be hiding everything in the false ceiling, right?
-
I can't wait to see the laminate floor too! Think I will drop by on Sunday to take some pictures to share with this forum. Yes, actually wanted to lay homogeneous tiles but everyone is against it. So will keep the marble (by previous owner) and polish it when everything is done. The thing about your reno approval by HDB - it makes a different when you (the house owner) call HDB. They don't care much about contractors calling them.
-
Very important for wiring / air-con trunking: tell the contractor how you want the wire / trunking to run. If not, they will try to use the least material to get the job done, and you will have messy wires.
-
Oops, she plans to have you work in the kitchen (to cook). :-)
-
Find out from your ID who the contact person is in HDB. Then call and ask for approval everyday. It works and will really speed things up.
-
Wow, you ceiling's much higher than mine. According to one of the ID I spoke to, the minimum false ceiling is 6 inch (15cm). So you can afford to have a false ceiling and 2.39m "air-space". Really envy you - without the false ceiling my cables are all over the place. Take picture and show you later.

Just posted this on beany0811's blog. Thought I should also post it at my own: "The All Around Beamy Bedroom 2"
-
As promised, here's the pictures of the beams in my bedroom 2: You see, for my place, MBR and bedroom 3 have no beams. The beams are all in bedroom 2 (all four walls, including the one where the door is). You can see them in the pictures.

Hey beany0811, The ceiling quite low right? You still doing false ceiling? My ceiling is only about 2.45m so I gave up the idea of false ceiling and L-box. What's yours? I have yet to speak with Jestac. Could you let me know the price after you get the quote? My ID got kangtao can do the whole house windows for about $200 (also using car solar film), but I want to check out the more established brand first.
