Just dropped by the new flat this morning. Two days not there and there were lots of progress, especially on the carpentry. - Cabinet at Study fully done. - Wardrobe and cabinet at Bedroom 3 also fully done. - Main door, doors for MBR, Study, Bedroom 3 and Storeroom are done. - Shower screen done but wrong direction, getting ID to change it. - TV console, feature wall, shoe cabinet and glass partition are done. - All lights are done. Remote control also installed. - Bed frame partially done. MBR wardrobe done. The only major component missing is the raised platform for the balcony. ID needs to confirm that the new windows are water proof before starting work on the platform.

Get all the pricing from Palace Lights and then walk over to Strass, also at Balestier Road. Tell them the price you got from Palace Lights and ask if they could do better. You can easily shave 10-20% from the price. Free delivery if you purchase a few lights.

Look very reasonable to me!

The old model no more liao. The new one incorporate a microwave oven and is made in China. It has a bigger capacity and smaller wattage, so food is cook slower. That's why we went high and low to search for the older model instead of settling on the new one.

According to my wife's research and some people on the internet, yes. The panasonic one, however, could not brown so I suppose that means cannot bake, right?

Going with my wife in early August. She is travelling now.

Your choice of lights is good. Very nice!

I got the same oven. Bought display set ('cos no more of this old model) for $800+.

We modified the original fire-rated door to save money. Basically we pick laminate (outside + inside [consistent with our console and feature wall]) from the laminate catalog and the carpenter modified the door for us. So it is difference both side. The bedrooms are also done the same way, but we model it after the veneer door design from the door catalog.
-
Ya lor, so many coincidents.
-
Yes, the door is fire-rated. In fact this is the original door that came with the flat some 26 years ago, supplied by HDB. What ID did was to "decorate" it with laminate. So the door is quite interesting, the outside is what you see in this picture; the inside looks different - it is consistent with the design of our console and feature wall. Will try to snap a picture when it is installed.

We have the same challenge. The kitchen is so narrow so any L-shaped layout is definitely going to pose a space challenge. However, my wife wanted a breakfast counter so in order to have just enough space to put the basin and hob, we have to go for our current L-shaped layout. Now that the structure is already there, we have a good feel of the space. Actually there is enough space to move around, after we have relocated the common toilet door.

Scenes of the heavy downpour yesterday afternoon:

Since I had sometime waiting for the carpenters to bring up the carpentry, I started cleaning the house with the broom provided:
-
The side cabinet at Kitchen. This is mainly to cover the ugly pipes as well as providing storage space for my cleaning equipments: broom, mop, vaccum cleaner and iRobot. Due to the award angle we have to have a door that looks like bi-fold.
-
Main door (external view) It looks differently from inside. Because the door was modified with laminate, we have the luxury of making it looks difference both side,
-
Sliding door for Bedroom 3 wardrobe (that's for me). Don't quite like it, think it might be nicer if the strip is higher - maybe it is the choice of the laminate
-
Bedroom doors (partially blocked)

There were so much carpentry it took the three carpenters at least half a hour to unload them from the lorry. There were not enough storage space in the house to house the carpentry so they decide to leave it outside the corridor (oh, forget to snap a pictures of those at the corridor). Close up look of the light: We basically use the same design for the entire house (exception is at cozy corner and those fans with lights). Two bulbs for kitchen and room, one bulb for toilet, kitchen washing area and storeroom, and three bulbs for dining area. There is also a downlight version for the door entrance.

Updates on Work Done on 27 Jul 2009, Monday Because of the heavy downpour yesterday, the carpentry was not delivered till late afternoon (about 4pm+). As a result, only some lights were installed. The electrician works REALLY SLooooooW. They took a day just to install 4 lights. Looks like they will take at least another day to complete my 16 lights. Here's the first one that was done, fan-cum-light **** area: Without camera flash: (house was pretty dark due to the heavy rain) With camera flash:

Stainless Steel Or Tempered Glass At The Back Of Cooker Hob?
sohck replied to jo_mummy's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Been using stainless steel for past ten years and it stained big time. So chose to use tempered glass this time round. -
Ya lor, my wife picked most of the stuff and decided on the colours. I am quite easy so no problem at all. If I pick something and turn out to be ugly, then I will get nagged.... hahaha No update today?
