  2. Yup...maybe in 10 years time we might move back to my hubby's fave place, AMK...he used to live there until his family moved to Woodlands a few months back...so now getting our first hse in Woodlands also to get the live near parents grant... Wa now gain City got promotion? My single system air cond which I bought with them was quite expensive...nearly 2k...
  3. hehe hope you dun mind me using the picture here and to show my contractor...but this is exactly the type of altar which we want...somemore it's white color and will fit into our hse color scheme hehe... Do you have his number? I joined the club in facebook le...his work looks good so will consider Let me know how much he charged for ur altar
  4. Haha yea lor...but seems like now he has disappeared again... I am asking my contractor how much he would charge for the altar but if it is too expensive, mite consider engaging the contractor who did this altar for BD...
  5. Hmm..maybe dessert ba...cos I think it is going to be potluck and I might be making curry chicken for one of the main dishes...so something that goes with that...
  6. Haha..not far...need to take bus though, around 10 mins
  7. yea ours also those big big ones of legrand brand...we checked it out and found out each switch costs 9.90 each outside (in HomeFix). But Patrick got the whole set for us (nearly 30 over switches and sockets) at ard 200. But if you want it cheaper, can get another brand...legrand is considered expensive for switches. But of cos it has a nice feel to it...
  8. Hmm no offense but I find the top cabinets a bit too long...like out of balance with the bottom cabinets... Are your floor going to be wooden as well for the kitchen area?
  9. Me also sleepy...trying not to sleep as I marked compos... Later going down to take a peep at my hse again haha...
  10. Haha glass door not done yet...I think they shud be constructing it today or tomorrow... Costs ard 900 to install the door...and the door is frosted glass type. Can make it transparent also if you like, but we prefer to semi-conceal the kitchen from the living room...
  11. remember to ask him about the switches and sockets also if you want to replace the old ones in your house...For ours, our switches and new sockets cost ard 200 plus another 200++ for installing them...so extra 500...
  12. Oh my, that's a lovely color! Think it will look great with white walls and white furniture...
  13. Any easy and fool-proof recipes? I need an easy-to-make dish for housewarming haha...and first time using my oven so need something simple...
  14. If your kitchen is open concept then shud be fine...mine is enclosed with glass door...so going to be hot and stuffy inside. Although got window in the service balcony right next to the kitchen but the dining area is still hot... Actually all this you will only find out once the kitchen is done up then you go and stand inside...we also never thought about the heat issue until after the kitchen is constructed...
  15. Yea lighting needs to plan very carefully...for us we missed out quite a number of stuff...like the position of the dining table light and also the power point for our altar...forgot to plan properly for these two...so now going to incur extra cost
  16. Yea I hate horizontal beams lolz. Actually for our kitchen, even wif the beam there, it is still quite bright even though we only have two lights. Maybe cos our dining table lights are those 3-in-1 type... But my kitchen and dining area super hot! Do you have that problem also? I think I need to get standing fan to put near the dining table, otherwise confirm will feel very warm when I am cooking and eating...
  17. Yup, moving in on 7 Nov, as advised by him haha. Our reno will actually end on 26 Oct.
  18. Omg you are fast! Just mention ur name here then u appear le...like genie in the bottle like that haha... ah wei is a subcontractor or ur main one? Does he own his own company? You got make other items wif him?
  19. haha if i had my way i wud have bought a lot of things before my reno even started..but dear hubby controlled me :P
  20. Yea...will check wif him. Hopefully wun exceed 1k. The carpenter will be coming down tomorrow to do measurements also, then my contractor will tell me how much it will cost before we proceed
  21. I also not working... But need to do work at home...
  22. Yea..and the not-so-fave part is when the bill arrives Luckily my FIL agreed to sponsor the altar otherwise will be added expenses...went to walk ard Rochor Rd yesterday to look at altar but all look so 'obiang'...all made of rosewood which will definitely not fit into our house theme...we want something like this: Simple and clean design...tink it's done by one of the forumites here, blue_diamond..but forgot who did it for him/her.. So tomolo Patrick will be coming down to take a look and give us a quote for this type of altar...
  23. Wa you are not in Singapore now? then how you coordinate all your renovation procedures?
  24. My dining room is also located in my kitchen. Currently I only have two lights there. This light is powerful enough to light up the entire kitchen on its own lol. If you are interested, I got it at lightings.com.sg Then for dining area, I just use this: So far the kitchen is lighted up quite brightly even when I just turn on the white light... HTH!
  25. Haha yea lor...this weekend going to be a huge spending day as we will get all of our furniture in IKEA...then going over to courts tampines to take a look at the bedding sale
