  1. I seriously dun think we need to justify our comments esp when the person asking for it isn't going to be engaging intra but is just sharing his opinions. I agree that there are those who register accounts and post that very day itslef may seem defensive and fishy.. But as stressed, those of us who have had positive experience with Dave and are able to accept his working style just wanna share in this thread. I think pics would come under t-blog. Not just that, seems like pics are meant to prove his workmanship but that is apparently not the issue here. So why is there a need to prove that so-called authencity? Actually authencity of what? That we are dave's customers and not Dave himself? If I were Dave, then I would have more than enough pics to 'show' u isn't it? Might as well scan my receipt.. That would be better proof of 'authencity'. The thing is.. The initial issue was with the payment method Dave has. So at the end of day, same old thing.. If whoever really wishes to engage Dave should speak to him and if u really want to see workmanship etc, I'm sure he'll be more than glad to show u his works. I feel that whether it's really Dave or dave's customers, we have been more objective in our comments and opinions. We are not saying 'dave's the best! Go for him!' but rather only go for the ID if you are comfortable with his style of working.
  2. I think the bottom line is.. go with your gut feel and your own level of acceptance. If you cannot accept that ID's working style (in ALL sense, not just how he designs your place but also collection of payment, level of comfort with him) to even begin with, then.. that ID's not for you. Simple as that. There's no point questioning why his collection in 50-50.. why he needs the money etc etc. I mean, even if he justifies it himself, it may still be unreasonable to you at the end of the day.. . If you are not comfortable with it, and after talking to Dave about it and both parties are unable to come to an acceptable conclusion, then I think another ID would be a better choice. Btw, I think Dave's also the boss. So when one pays Intradesign, it's sort of like paying him too isn't it? Hmm...
  3. Hi all, Dave was my ID for our new place just a few months ago. Experience has been positive and even till today he responses really quickly to touch ups and requests. he also never fails to update on Reno progress and keeps us assured. His payment scheme is 50-50 and it's his practice of doing things. I think if one is not comfortable with that, you should just talk to him and see what he can do about it. His first 50% is during orientation and then the last 50% before carpentry goes up. To be honest, my Hubby and I trust him enough to pass him our cheque without asking for receipts. Yes of cos we have heard horror stories about even the most reputable IDs or contractors 'running' off after that or has change in attitude after collecting full payment but I guess it's quite obvious with Dave's past records in this thread that he has been a responsible and prompt ID. Ultimately I think it all boils down to having good and clear communication with the ID and of course being comfortable with his working style. So in dave's case, his is such that his payment collection method is 50-50. If you are really keen on engaging Dave, it's good to discuss with him further. He's an easy person to talk to.. Though he can be loud. Hee.. He's a very open and straightforward person so u can just tell him honestly how u feel. Sounds like I'm 'promoting' our ID but just giving my two-cents worth on his working style and practice. If he's irresponsible or even untrustworthy, I wouldn't even want to waste my breath here.
  4. I would like to add my two cents worth about Intradesign. My hubby and I engaged Dave after going to a number of IDs. 6 to be exact. And yes, as loud and straightforward as Dave may be, we found him easy to get along with and was able to build a rapport with him. Our reno has started in mid-Dec and it's still ongoing. Once we collected our keys, Dave never wasted time coming down that very day to do an orientation and kickstarted the reno. He even applied for our reno permit on that very day. Although the quote from Intradesign is not broken down, we can safely say that there is no hidden cost and he really tries his best to accede to our requests along the way without compromising on anything else. It has been a smooth and easy reno process so far and we're glad we placed our trust in him. Initially we agreed to completing our reno only after CNY but due to some personal reasons, we had to bring it forward to moving in before CNY. Dave was very understanding and is really going all out to help us. I'm posting all these not to do free advertising for Intradesign, but just wanna share the pleasant experience we have had with them so far. Choosing the right firm and ID is not just about designs and quotes but also boils down to that little stroke of luck and that chemistry. And yes, gotta add that they are indeed very responsive.
